I can remember when

This may be changeing the subject a wee bit but it's been hit on a little here.---Speaking of being shot in the mountains (no jokes on this one).---Do any of you guys remember this---back in the 1960's, there was some people being shot and killed up in the Superstition mts.---A few of those that ventured up in there (at least in certain areas) were being shot (and killed in most cases) with a high powered rifle & at long distance.---I've remembered that ever since it was happening.---I don't think they ever did get the person(s) that was doing it.---Maybe some "crazy" with a claim up there (or just plain crazy without a claim).---In any case, it eventually stopped--perhaps whoever was doing it died or was shot themself.--------Del

Somewhere I think I read there was an old prospector suspected of the shootings on that one.. Guy went loCo looking for the Gold Mine...and over the years, there here have been many, that went over the edge looking for Gold.................

Here is a pathetic but true story...

Myself and 4 other guys loaded up in a van to go detecting.. This one guy ( Nameless) hahah  said he had a great spot to detect.. and gave us directions..
We split the gas bill.and away we went...drove two and one half hours to get there........

As we turned down the road where the site was located he says..( Guy who directed us there) ......" Honest to god"...........he said these words.

Oh I forgot they would not let us hunt the fairgrounds.......... and he was right. They still would not let us detect the grounds. 2-1/2 hour ride for nothing LOL:biggrin:..well he sure ticked us all off, and the ride back was a little quiet..LOL till someone said ..hey I know a site they won't let us detect..You guys want to go ?? well that broke the Ice, and we all laughed till we darn near cried.. To this day we still rib the guy who directed us to this great old fair grounds..

Ok Larry tell us some stories.....I know you got some we having a good time........hh.........Dan

HEy Elton.
Don't youI think we should all get together and take a trip to Arizona and hunt for the lost Dutchman. NAAAAAA they problem wouldn't let us hunt:clapping:

Elton, old fair grounds will always remind me of that story....hahaha

LOL Roy

Hey Larry---good to have you back my friend!---I thought you were probably gone on your hunt.---How did you do?-----Well, I have a couple of "short stories".----- In our travels, my wife & I tow a vehicle behind our motorhome-have for years.---My wife gave me permission to tell this one! :) ---We had camped in the mid-west at an old fairgrounds in our M.H. & hunted the fairgrounds, then traveled to an old town park with the CRV to hunt the park.---When we got done hunting the park we went back to the M.H. & unloaded the equipment and NO DFX (my wifes).---I asked her quietly (yeah right)--WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR DETECTOR????---She said she guessed she left it at the park.---I said, we'll at least I didn't run over it (I don't think).---I said "you left it, you go get it".---So I stayed with the M.H. & she went back to the park and "thank goodness" it was still there (right where she left it).---It was a small town park & I'm sure if it had been in a busy city park, it would have been "long gone".----We usually carry 3 or 4 detectors in the Jeep or CRV when we go hunting---so ever since that time, we always ask each other before we leave a hunt site--"are all the kids (detectors) in the car"?----I'm careful not to run over one of those "kids" to---haven't done it yet.-----She "got even" with me though on another hunt, I'll tell it later if you guys want to hear it. ------Del

Yep Del, Tell it

We had a great time Del. We met up with another couple for the holidays and while the girls enjoyed each others company, Rob and I got to get some hunting in. We hit the local parks that has been hunted hard and what old coins we found was 8 inches deep or more. Big old shade trees in the old parks were a must in the 90+ degree days with high humity. I dug my deepest nickle by far yesterday, and honest 8 inches deep for a 1910 V and a 1902 IH at 9 inches. Rob dug a 9" deep 1925 dime and the rest of the newer silver was not as deep. Good friends, good eats, good detecting and some good sleep made for a great weekend.
