    V3i D2 10" Versus the 950 Concentric

OK... I can buy this. It actually makes more sense. But it does still show a pattern that is narrower than it is long. Good to know. Thanks

    V3i D2 10" Versus the 950 Concentric

This thread tells me a lot. I was not aware that the DD coils had this kind of search pattern. This explains why the 4x6 DD shooter is so surgical. Stupid me didn't know this. Very narrow width, but able to overlap more. Turn 90 degrees and it tells me more. Now I have a better...

    Things are really slow

In my part of Indiana the ground is really hard. I tried a little yesterday but I wasn't in the mood to dig questionable targets in concrete. Hope to get some rain soon.

Issue with ground balance and modulation

I am wondering why you would choose this method of ground balance when it is so simple to manually GB. After that you can run it in auto or lock.

    Short 25 minute hunt surprise.

They tell me when I dance it looks like I am being tazed... So I don't

    Headphones

OK, I thought you were insulting me. And from a moderator it really pizzed me off. I lurk, and read, and try to learn, but I rarely post. That's why you don't know me. Many times these forums have clicks, and if you aren't one of them you get put down.

    OK... never mind...... Thanks anyway

    Headphones

When I bought my v3i I also bought the wireless headphones. The headphones are great. They work very well and are comfortable. The problem is me. With headphones on, either wired or wireless, I can no longer hear what is going on around me. Call it paranoia if you wish, but with my...

    V3I Excitement !

We havn't had rain since mid May. The ground is like concrete because it is so dry.You would need a pick to dig here.

    V3I Excitement !

In central Indiana it's 105 right now, and has been like this for days. I would love to get out with my V3i but it's just too hot and the ground is hard as concrete.

    New V3i

I am sorry for getting in on this but your post has me confused. I have a Pro Pointer and love it. It doesn't cause problems with my V3i. I pull it out of my back pocket and it just works. You state that you have to give special treatment to your DX-1 to get it to do what you want it to...

How do stratified soil layers affect ground balance?

OK... I'm confused. If the machine is able to maintain GB with autotrac why would you want to enable locktrac. I would think you would want to have the best GB available. I realize that in very high mineralization you might have different issues but in normal ground why not autotrac?

    Best data vs. correlate

Thanks Rob, you have already validated my opinion, but I am new to this machine and so the questions. Thanks... Joe

    Best data vs. correlate

I would like opinions on the advantages of best data or correlate and when it makes a difference. Also maybe a dumb question... how tight do most of you keep the screw that holds on the coil? Do you keep it tight enough that it doesn't move or do you prefer to leave it a little looser so...

    Cemeteries

Thanks for the input guys. I actually feel the same as most of you. My intentions were to not search the actual graves themselves but the open areas around. Both of the sites that I had in mind had prominent citizens from the period buried there and both sites were nearly lost at one time...

    Cemeteries

Thank you for your reply Larry and I pretty much agree with you. Problem is that with these old cemeteries many of the markers are gone and you may not know if you are on a grave or not. I guess where I am coming from, is as long as I am only going down a few inches... is it considered...

    Cemeteries

Hi all. I want to know what the feelings are about detecting in OLD cemeteries. I would personally feel uncomfortable in locations that are still used. I really wouldn't want someones mother find me digging a coin above her son's grave. I have access to two old cemeteries that date back to...

    OK...Am I being stupid???

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't made a purchase yet but intend to in the next couple of months. I live in Indiana and although we have had a mild winter so far I feel like we will get hammered one of these days. I hate being cold and I am sure digging in frozen ground isn't easy. I am...

    OK...Am I being stupid???

Thanks. That is what I was wanting to hear. From what I have seen this machine should perform right out of the box with the factory programs. I know soil conditions and EMF, and trash, etc. etc. will cause problems but it looks like this thing is pretty awesome. Actually I think learning...

    OK...Am I being stupid???

Hi all, first post here I built a Heathkit metal detector back in the early 70's and had a good time with it. It had ONE control on it. It was the on/off switch and sensitivity. Oh and it did have a meter to show how strong the signal was. Pretty primitive compared to today's detectors...
