Customer Feedback

I love the two Tesoro's that I have, a Tiger Shark, and a Silver uMax. Your customer service is top notch. Your total lack of nothing new has me looking at other brands including some non-Chinese overseas brands. As stated earlier your poor website is just that, a poor website. Your lack of user info on the website and the outdated manuals you get with your detector are also poor. Do you make great detectors? Yes you do, but you are living in the past. Take a look at the DeLeon and Cortes, the displays are small and a joke. I have seen better displays on high school science fair projects. As mentioned earlier your flagship model should be something that shines and you should be proud of it. Compare your flagship, the Cortes, to the competitors flagships and try not to laugh, it's not even a contest, it's embarrassing. Lets not even talk about that joke the Golden that you still have not corrected. That one to me is just inexcusable and does little for customer confidence of any sort. Also as mentioned earlier why do you put out so many hot and cold detectors? If you really and I mean really cared about your customers and your reputation, all of your detectors would be peaked for max. performance before leaving the door. Adjusting a detector to an acceptable window of limits is just not cutting it because we get detectors at the middle of the window and right at both ends of the window. Peak each one and send us a great detector the first time. There are several people on this forum and another who have complained about different performance levels from the same detector. Right now I feel your great customer service and lifetime warranty are carrying you. That won't last forever.

I don't mean to be too hard on you folks, but as far as new detectors go, you all really need to wake up and smell the coffee before it's too late.
That was very well said Rainyday101! I would hit the like button, but I can't find it.

bring back the Eldorado in a big box with a pistol grip like a Whites MXT rear mount. ( MAN GB TEN TURN OR DUAL GB ADJUST)
3 tones but a toggle to switch to single or ferrous/ non ferrous or high med low.
adjustible iron audio
pinpoint on pistol grip
ed180
salt switch (optional)
number only big display with depth indicator backlite for the screen on top of the pistol grip
frequency shifter
dual frequency- switch RADICALLY DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES LOW TO HIGH IF POSSIBLE
varifilter
water resistant
coil assortment

color never found a coin or relic but eye appeal does sell. dont make it look like a dinosaur or a tinker toy. a no nonsense ergonomical design and a modernistic approach and tough materials.whites new box a good looking unit. i would like it to look like a silver sabre plus box rear mounted with controls on the side and screen press pads

name it "THE WANDERER" SEARCHING FOR THE ELUSIVE CITY OF GOLD or "THE GALLEON" HAULING OFF THE TREASURES

or better yet work on the resonance of metal more and defeat aluminum then retire to paradise!

So you're saying one Vaquero isn't the same as another in regards to depth/sensitivity? Great, I just bought one. I hope it's one of the good ones...

Sorry Kapok, look at all the outlaw posts alone, I think everyone here has one that does something different the next guy. Very inconsistant.. I 'm liking what I see, alot of suggestions for the pistol grip pinpoint all metal trigger. It just makes sense. Anywhere else is like putting the trigger of a gun on the back of the slide. Oh ya, did mention black color...hehe... hammer it home people and they will listen...

Are there "generations" or serial number series that are known stinkers or exceptional performers or is it just pot luck (or Russian roulette...)

I have no idea bud. My guess would be pot luck? I never really thought much about comparing serial numbers with those who are having some strange phenomenon. Perhaps I will look into that myself.

How about adding an L.E.D. light on the face of the control panel that would change in intensity the closer one gets to the target? This would be great for silent / night hunting without draining the batteries. My 2 cents.

I think you have some good high tech ideas Mud for a guy that does not like high tech detectors....... I really like the idea of no external controls, that would make the detector water resistant/proof...... adjustments could be made with an app on your smartphone.

Unfortunately that level of technology would be well beyond the scope of a small company I would imagine.

Hey Larry, it would really not be that high tech except for the production of a long lexan tube of some sort, and of course getting rid of the knobs and replacing them with magnetically operated switches, which pricepoint wise may be a wash.....I bet Sven or somebody else could whip something like this up in a few hours! Heck a guy could take something off the shelf and even keep the TID screen inside the clear tube which should act like a magnifying glass if the TID screens are somewhat bendable or able to mold into a semicircle....It would sure LOOK hi-tech, and thats what Tesoro needs from the sounds of these posts, something that is extraodinarily unusual, modern looking,
and bullet proof?

I may may be a detector dinosaur by today's standards, I don't like high tech machines. I like the "KISS.."method, just keep it simple, I want detectors that you don't have to scroll through endless menus to make a simple adjustment. I like to make adjustments with knobs and switches, I've tried the high tech machines like the Minelab Explorer ll, E-Trac, White's DFX and XLT, never again.

I love my Vaquero but wish it did two things differently. I already stated that i wish there was a different threshold for all metal. I would also like a three position toggle switch on the handle to switch to all metal , like on the Whites Eagle.

Oh man I can see it now, smart phone controls my machine. There goes another phone in the water for me...Lol

Basic old school works .And many will always utilize it as a preference. But some up to date Digital features with large useful screen viewings would be nice too.

Id...ability to electronically Gb with tracking , tones features .......and possibly even a multi frequency machine could sell well. even if just a point of single change 3..5.12 with coils for each frequency.

YES!! Exactly. I too have tried some other high tech machines like the T2, F70, F5, GTI2500, Omega and probably a couple I'm forgetting but I've returned to Tesoro products. My life is complex enough with the technology I handle at work. My detecting time is my break from stress. Simple, fun, and confidence that I didn't miss any targets because I failed to select the appropriate mode or menu pick that day. That's a good day detecting to me.

I only have a Vaquero in the Tesoro machines, so i'll speak about it.

Multi-tone.
some type of notch discrimination, probably would require some kind of tid screen.
No motion all metal pin-point.

I like the Vaquero, but it mostly just gathers dust because i have other machines with theses features. I think any detector with limited features will have a limited market.

I guess I'm easier to please than many of the posters. I'd like to see the DeLeon or Cortez come out with ground balance for both modes, either manual or auto, if auto, a ground lock setting. Also a larger screen. On models like the Vaquero, a separate toggle for all metal so the disc setting does not have to be disturbed, and possibly a toggle for a second disc setting similar to the Tejon. Also, how hard would it be to offer a small, screwdriver access to the preset machines so the user could tweak the ground setting, or heck with that, make them all gb adjustable?

I want user adjustable tone id at a price I can afford. The Golden series was a good start, just take it up a few levels. Let me pick the tones and the conductive range to associate the tones to. Or at the very least, you set the tonal pitches (although the past shows you are not very good at this) and let me pick the conductive range to associate to the tones.

Believe it or not, I have a picture of a Cortes face plate saved as the background on my computer. Love to look at it. Dislike hunting with it because it doesn't have tone id in the normal search mode.

I don't want to rotate a knob or look at a display for every signal to figure out what conductive range it falls in. I want to HEAR what conductive range the signal falls in.

Thanks for asking.

I have one simple suggestion maybe make illuminate the knobs/settings somehow (i.e. glow in the dark discrimination marks, LED underlit knobs, etc.) for us night hunters. also Headphone jack located under armrest?or other better location?

I`m still using my original Silver Sabre that I got from Jack Gifford back in the early `80s when I was doing some promotional work with him on the then NEW Silver Sabre...This probably makes me primitive in the eyes of what is happening now, but I don`t feel all that handicapped...A lot has happened with Target ID and exotic notch discrimination, but the fact is most good things are missed unless you operate in the all metal mode...A simple easy to tune unit using 6 or 8 AA batteries, with some kind of distinct Tonal ID ( in a Golden Sabre case ) should fill the bill...One point that is of importance to me is long battery life...The cost of batteries can be a big factor in attracting TH`ers ( old guy term for Treasure Hunters ! )
