Saw a refference to something called the MXSPORT. Any idea what it is?

Good looking machine for sure, hope it has the feel and ruggedness of the AT Pro. If its priced right I will surley snag one !

Salt Track
The MX Sport is a single frequency (VLF) metal detector. More expensive multi-frequency and pulse-induction metal detectors do have some advantage in wet conductive (salt) grounds. However, the MX Sport provides for excellent results in these wet conductive salt conditions. The MX Sport Beach program has a revised ground balance range to accommodate use in wet salt sand because salt (when wet) is conductive like a metal target is conductive.
Other situations where a person may need the expanded salt ground balance range added to a program other than Beach include Relic or Prospecting programs Thus, the salt option is available in the Options mode and can be added or subtracted from any program.
Relic hunting is often conducted in farm fields. These farm fields, when wet and heavily fertilized, produce conductive conditions similar to wet conductive salt. Add the Salt Track feature to the Relic program when searching heavily fertilized wet farm fields.
In desert regions alkali (salt) patches are often found in good nugget shooting areas. By adding the Salt Track feature to the Prospecting program, these alkali areas can be searched effectively for nuggets even when wet.

OK, since we are making wild arse guesses, here are mine...

Basic: $799
Li-ion rechargeable battery option: $849
all the above + waterproof headphones: $899
all the above + second smaller coil: $999

Or you could buy the options "a la carte" at slightly higher prices if you didn't want everything in the "Pro-pack" or wanted to buy them later, Basic ($799) plus:
Rechargeable battery pack w/quick charger: $99
Waterproof headphones: $99
Small coil w/waterproof connector: $199

If you are making book, you should call out the first day one of these things appears in the classified ads! My bet is 3 days after release.:)

"Noooooo....I still don't 'agree' that it [ has to ] compete with the ATP.

Pretty soon that model will be 'old hat' anyhow! (new stuff coming - Yes - it has been a cash runner for G)

I'm seeing 'some' similarity[ in construction / concept ] tween the MX and CTX: therefore I don't think twill come cheap? (It's even being marketed in a similar fashion - even the "music" from the 2nd video [ sounds similar ] to Moonlab's little ditty that featured music played on detectors!)

NB: it's also what would be regarded as [ a niche ] model for the few who require such a device therefore, a higher premium?"

Trying to get involved in a race to the bottom is not a good idea for White's. Better they concentrate on building high quality, high performance and therefore premium price detectors. The Aussies have proven time and again people will pay for features and performance. I say leave the cheap machines to people that want them - they are there for you with plenty of options. Please let a few companies compete for my business which basically is performance, no matter the cost.

I have to agree with Steve. The market is just plain flooded with mid-level machines. Most aren't all that different. Now if White's has some new trick up their sleeve with the MX Sport that puts it in a whole new class and at a mid-level price, great. If not then give me the good stuff.

Ditto that Steve and Southwind. I have a detector or two that I can unload to raise extra cash if needed to get a really quality detector that can run with the big boys at the top. Gave up fast cars and fast women years ago. Got to have something that runs hot, just saying:blink:

Talked with White's Electronics and I ask if it was a mxt in a smaller package and the answer was yes. The person I talked to said, there has been tweaks done to it. Like faster recovery time, and maybe better depth. I ask about price, they are still working on that. When is it coming out? The person said it will be out faster than Spring, they are ahead of schedule, will be earlier.

This just had to show up a couple months after I bought an AT for water hunting !! :sadwalk:

Well at least the AT is still an awesome machine, so that isn't too bad.

We have learned a lot since the rumors started, the big question right now is does it have analog audio like an MXT or digital like an MX5?
