and we'll do a little analysis of RD3D's post.

1. If you do a search of the posts RD3D has made in the last year there is a grand total of 15 and most are on finds he has made with a CZ. He appears to be a coin shooter for the most part because those are the types of finds he posts.

2. By the following post he made further down, he didn't actually own an Edge:

"I also hope others will report their ID Edge experiences. There were some positive attributes that I really liked about the ID Edge, however they didn't justify me running to my local dealer and purchasing one."

So I assume he had a dealer give him one to try out or was lent one. Therefore there is a time factor question as to the amount of time and locations he tried it in.

3. He is a CZ user, I own two, so I can tell you it is a very endearing machine with some great qualities about it. One is the VCO pinpoint, which they did not use on the Edge, and I also wish they had, so that you can pinpoint more easily by ear and not look at the machine. Once you get used to the VCO PP it's something you'll miss on any other machine that you try that doesn't have it like RD3D. But by the same token the CZ's place nickels out of their low conductive range, and into the high coin tone range, which I just despise as a wader, but RD3D seems to like from reading previous posts. The Edge leaves them where they belong tone wise, hurray!

As a CZ user he is trying to use a machine that is really quite different in the way it reacts, if he was digging nails, then he lacked experience with the machine. Depending on ground, and type of target, the Edge can approach the CZ in depth, within 1.5 to 2 inches. And that is nothing to scoff at, as the CZ's have always been noted for depth, no matter what else is said about them. But now we come to working in trash, no contest, not even close with like sized coils.

When you get the Edge set sensitivity to no higher than "8", disc to 0(zero), put it in all metal mode and find a spot with no metal, Auto GB it, go back to disc mode and off you go. Give it about twenty hours before you muck about with the notches or factory modes.

Need any help with it, stop by the C$ forum and ask.

some very sound advice and insight. I have just about any detector you can think of including the Edge and IMO you made a great choice. Use it, learn it, and you'll see what we mean. I will differ or maybe expand upon what BB had to say about the PP system on the Edge. He's right in that in order to get the most precise PP info you do need to look at the display however the Edge/Excel/C$ numeric PP system will IMO give you MUCH better and more precise clues as to the target's size and to me that is well worth the tradeoff of the VCO PP of the the CZ's. Enjoy! Ya done good! :)

less then 50???? The CZ3d is no deeper then the CZ5 and both aren't as deep as the CZ70, which has a good 2" on them and the C$ has a good inch or so depth on the CZ70, but then that's in my soil and I have better then 150 hours on a Coinstrike and had more then 60 hours on the 3d.

Hey Willy, someone has been trying to sell the Millenium on Ebay for buy it of 749.00 brand new! Sounds like a good price. I talked to Mr.Bill about it and said the outfit isn't making anything on them. CU later Willy.:garrett::detecting:

Mike,

BIG information for you. I had it for 2 years and put alot more time than 50 hours on it. More than your 150 hours. My C$ was NOT (I repeat NOT) as deep as 3D or my Explorer. I've also hunted along side of CZ-70s and it's ever bit as deep as the CZ-70. I could actually hit a few things with my 3D that the 70 would hit but would bounce on the ID or miss ID the item. I've had my 3D for almost 2 years. I have a problem with this or that machine is 'deeper' than this or that machine... especially since soil conditions vary alot for state to state and I even had wide variation within my 50 mile radius... alot of times I have seen wide variations within the same site. Just because the C$ is deeper in your area don't assume I don't know what I'm talking about or that I didn't know what I was doing with the machine when I say it's not as deep in MY AREA. The 70 is no deep in my area than my 3D. The C$ is the worst in depth of the 70, 3D and C$ in my area. End of story.

Will find the deeper finds,I have only had it now for 2 & 1/2 months and did like you said, leave the other detectors alone while learning the C$.

Mike every time I take the C$ to the beach it seams like I learn new methods on distinguishing the different tones.

I have noticed that when I get in all the little pieces of iron,I just turn down the sens to 3 and thresh to -15 salt on track on and no problem, with that setting it really surprised me I was digging dimes and nickels,at 9" to 10" I would look at the inch marks on my scoop when I made the dig (just a estimate).

I sold my MXT & Explorer, boy I sure hated getting rid of the MXT but I don't need them now.
Mike I sure appreciate the help and advise you gave me. HH- - Bernie

Sorry for the previous post. I was trying to figure it out. I have been hanging out reviewing the feedback on the Edge for the past month. I am currently using a 1270 and have used a 1266 in the past. Also the XLT and DFX the problem with these IMO are limited depth. My questions are what kind of depth can I expect from the Edge compared to a 1266 or a 1270. More or less,I am looking for depth with hard hitting audio and a number ID would be a bonus. Thanks for any input. By the way I am hunting in N. Ga.

Bruce
