I fear stating my opinion, knowing there will be retaliations for my being honest, hence, my lurking status. I've run 2 sets of batteries through my ID EDGE and I'm having the same problems as you, as I did with the Coin $trike. In air tests, the EDGE is great. In real dirt, I'm also finding a lot of rusted and/or bent nails that register as +17 through +36, and this is from all different approach directions. I'm not a newbie to this hobby, I have 34 years of experience at detecting. In my dirt, it ground balances easily and well, but deeper targets (4" or greater) will not lock on very well. This is in several different areas. Seems like my old 1266 does much better. I'm not a CZ user, but I still have a problem with the ID EDGE. I know that NASA Tom is responsible for the CZ-70 and CZ-3D , and I love everything he writes. He has taught me so much, yet others are jealous of his knowledge, when we should be encouraging him to produce more. In my eyes, he is not 'old technology' as others have stated. Dirt matrix DOES matter. I know that Bill Ladd gets free detectors from Fisher and that Mr. Bill is a Fisher dealer, and, by all rights, they should be pumping up a new product. I respect them, but my EDGE experiences do not reflect their experiences. And I'm not sure why some people will slam the CZ's, but pump the EDGE (initially, the Coin $trike). Seems to me, they are BOTH Fisher detectors. The 'old coins' idea belongs to NASA Tom, and it is too bad that he had nothing to do with the ID EDGE. I think he would have done things quite differently. I was told that Dankowski has hooked up with Dave Johnson. If this is true, LOOK OUT! Also, I have never heard a dealer say anything bad about units they carry. Apologies, if my honesty offends anyone. Lets all enjoy our beloved freedom-hobby, enjoy each other, INCLUDING opinions. Slamming not allowed!
