just what is your criteria for "high end" and also which high end detectors you've owned. Of the ones you've owned, which ones did you like? That info might help folks like myself give you some additional info about the Edge, given you take such stock in what you read.

Coinstrike, 70pro, 3Z, DFX, 6000XL, Exlporer II, ACE 250

Also, did any of the other detectors you've mentioned that you own(ed) not "cut it" in your opinion for a top end detector?

I am now looking at a high end Millennium Cointrax II it is high end and all I said about Fisher is I love all of my detectors I just wanted something different. I am a CZ kind of guy! No big deal more power to the EDGE I hope for the Coinstrike clan it is their new best fast detector.

and I know you have asked for opinions on it. But if you don't believe what I have to say about the Edge, Excel, and X-Terra 30, then why should I waste bandwidth telling you anything about the Baron?????

And I'll add this statement for anybody who cares to pay heed, out of the hundreds of targets I have dug with the Excel only a very few, have been nails. And those that were dug, were either bent or heavily encrusted, AND they were dug as iffy targets that were deemed to be possibly mixed targets. In 25+ years in this hobby the Excel is the quietest machine I have ever found in iron.

So Lawrenzo, for about $250 a used Excel can be purchased, set Disc to 0(zero), sensitivity to 8 or less, GB, and enjoy quiet in iron you won't believe. Target separation??? I can pull the nickels out of coin drops at the beach when sniping for gold on a consistent basis. And I don't owe that to my skills, it's the Excel mi amigo.

I currently own two CZ's, two ML's, one BH, one Tesoro, one Baron, and the Excel. If I am headed out for a trashy site, or sniping for gold, the Excel gets the nod, not even a contest.

Nobody is trying to convince you to buy anything from any manufacturer, but neither should you be making suggestions that others not buy them, because frankly you have never used any of them, let alone put any time in with them. Right?

So buy an Edge, M6, and X50, then write a review, you'll learn something and we'll learn something based on your experiences, not just your opinions. That's what the forums are for, taking and giving.

Hasta la vista,
BB

I've got a modded Cobra II and it outperformed both an Excalibur/Sov. and GTI1500, can only imagine how good your Baron setup is. They never seem to be on classifieds when I have the cash & the new ones are too expensive for me. ...Willy.

This got a bit out of control so I apologise for the big misunderstanding. I guess I feel like since nothing very different has come out on the high end that I close my eyes to the mid price detectors. I would love to find more gold rings and not dig so much trash and I know that is not going to happen. With some machines you may hear a difference in the tone I don't seem to be able to do that! I look at my 6000xl meter and that gives me a lot of info, but not anything that it gives me an edge.

I love the fishers and can't seem to part with any of them. Maybe someone can do a review on the X-Terea and the Edge and maybe your Excel. I like the fact that your Excel is great in trash, I would love to see how the Excel and the 6000XL do in trash.

So again I love detecting and maybe my ego or lack of it got in the way. I would love to hear about your Cointrax II?

Garrett's Gateway detector to just get people in the door. I gave one to my nephew who is seven. But a real hunter would be moving up the scale to something more, as Garrett figures[rightly.]
If Fisher would maybe drop the all-metal mode on the Excel so they could lower the price, they would "OWN THE PUSS__S"-on the lower COST end. One thing Garrett and Whites does not have in their lower cost detectors is a Fisher circuit.

The EDGE comes with an eight inch loop as opposed to a 9.5 or 10" by many others. Results will be different because of that. I just started from the beginning with a 10.5 on the EDGE, and in my area it will run and gun with any.

considered a major stockholder. I think we should form a 'power-bloc' and vote the CZ back IN!
