Understanding Some of the Magic of the V3's Analysis Screen

This is starting to sound like TDI discussion...where you "alter" the GB to increase sensitivity to certain target types because the machine loses sensitivity right around the GB point. That would be awesome for the V3. Taterhead

    5.3 Coil

TX boost could be hooked up to one of those red lights that they use to keep the buffet warm, you could use the 9.5 concentric coil with a bulb mounted in the middle, I like it. Taterhead

Pod Control Cover ..does it exist ?

I REALLY like the box cover on my machine. It keeps sand and grit off of it and out of the speaker holes (you could use a sticker, I don't have one) and it keeps the machine from getting scratched. Additionally, it keeps the other folks from getting jealous of our sweet machines. Folks at the...

So what you people useing ???

I use those things pictured above, the set screws are plastic. It works fine but it should hold it up higher, IMO. This is because if you set it down in sand, or the ground isn't perfectly flat or whatever I don't think it holds the machine up high enough. I will say that it works on our MXT...

    Big foot for V3

I heart my bigfoot on the V3, the VDIs can be a little strange, but I don't mind? Oh yeah...it works with TX boost on. YMMV. but I really like it as I tend to dig most positive VDIs anyway. On single frequency I bet it goes pretty deep, I will have to try that at some point. Taterhead

Do any of you guys machines when Salt compensate is selected in coin/Jewelry mode notice how the 22.5khz freq is dominate on a coin or any target?? Ma

Hi - I run "salt comp" mode in parks sometimes and in pinpoint the dominant frequency varies just like with other modes. The same is true for my partner's machine. Additionally, the pinpoint dominant frequency also varies in both wet sand and dry, just like all the other modes. This is in...

    No detecting here!

Years ago, I was one of those kids. My family made me go to a reunion every year but I hated all the hugs and kisses from the old folks. Our reunion was held at a fairground, so I used to run off on my own and explore all day, every year. I know, most parents would never let their kid do...

    Went for the V3 then . . .

You make an interesting point, which comes into perspective when I realize I could get a macbook pro for $1200. It has a color screen and optional wireless headphones, too. :) Only thing is, the macbook pro won't find me a gold ring. When it entertains me for hours I am will be sitting on my...

    Coil Field Patterns

I found a web page online from a guy who looked at coil field patterns and it was pretty informative. He used a graph system and it was pretty neet. The most dramatic difference was between disc and all metal modes on his machine, a garret. What was of great value to me was not the obvious...

    SunRay Probe vs. Garrett ProPointer

Hi Aaron: Regarding your feedback problem, I switched channels on my headphones and don't have this problem anymore. I have found that the strength of the pointer goes well before the battery goes. I keep my pinpointer battery extra fresh so that I get max distance out of the pointer. It...

    V3 WORTH IT?

Hi - Let me caveat by saying I'm new to detecting, having had an MXT for just a few months before getting a V3. In short, yes it has been worth it, even if I'm not sure that I have found things I wouldn't have found with the MXT...I think I may have dug less trash in getting to those finds...

    I WANT A BIGGER BAG!

I found that if I flip the D coil so that the long part points toward the box, rather than down and rotate it so that it is in line with the stalk it fits a little better. I was really having to stress the zipper and stitching until I got a little more careful about how I oriented the coil...

Got a new V3with some sort of coil problem.

Don't let that driver get away! Simply take your V3 down the road into a field, and it will be turn on and go. You probably have some weird EMI thingy at your house. Is it humid out? It will be worse. I get this sometimes at certain houses, sometimes a dog fence will do it. You can work...

    V3 on the Today show

I thought the show was friggin' great! That is almost exactly what its like when Nugget and I go to the beach. We drive 200 miles one way, pay $80 bucks a night for a hotel, and hunt all day for bottle caps and pull tabs. We ssssuuccckkk and make sure to hunt only when the beach is sanded...

Does anyone else use Mixed Mode Pro?

I agree on Mixed Mode. I turned it on in Coin and Jewelry when I was having trouble on a beach telling where "real" items were. When the background hum and the beeping alligned, I was able to tell which "iffy" targets (according to the beeping) were "real" by if/how the all metal mode alligned...

    Whites detectors,and there staff...

I totally second that. And have to mention both Todd and Anne, as well! When I think of White's, though, I don't just think of the people that answer the phone. How about Wayne's Detector Sales, where I bought a used model that belonged to a customer and they gave full support and...

    PINPOINTING PROBLEM

Hi Redbird - I second what Anne says. In the multiple times I've called Whites about all 3 of the detectors I've worked with, and I have always spoken with a person. Very few times have I ever even had to wait for a call back, and in those cases, they always called back. Plus, your forum...

    PINPOINTING PROBLEM

Exploreman - Thats pretty cool, and it makes sense that a coin on its edge will pinpoint in the wrong place. In the analyze mode you can also have a shot at identifying if your target is a coin on edge because i find that the wave shows a dip on one side and a hump on the other and then...

    PINPOINTING PROBLEM

Larry and Redbird: My partner and I have access to two Vs. Is there anything that I we do to help with you and redbird figure something out? We can do some pinpoint and search depths in the air in stock programs or on fairly neutral ground if it would help. Tater
