I'm just careful with where I set it. I don't bother with the little accoutrements. But I am considering a neoprene, or similar canvas cover over the box just for a little added protection.

For $5 and less weight, White's sells stands that work just as good. http://whiteselectronics.com/products/accessories/miscellaneous.html

I just use a towel at the end of a hunt and save the $5.

That's because Larry never puts his down. If the set screws are those are metal I think they could nick the powder coat. The ones from Whites aren't bad. Rob

Now that you mentioned it Rob, I don't set it down on the ground much. In recovering a target I'm down on my left knee and the box is resting on my right knee.

I notice these things, I have to watch my mentor closely. Rob:devil:

once you get a good coating of mud on the control box it no longer matters LOL !!! :nopity:

i have and xlt and mxt and use the whites stands on both with rubber feet on them. plenty high enough.the control box says water resistant so some mud shouldnt hurt it much. if weather turns bad i keep clear plastic bags handy to cover electronics. but the stand from whites is all you need, them ones you showed us have bad reviews.

Doesn't the xlt or dfx detector stand fit the v3 ? If not some one cant make one I thought whites would of made one by now the one on the xlt work great for keeping out of the mud made by whites. Just passing though:detecting:

They are the same, and will fit all the black boxes. Some people will have to move their rubber feet if they put them on too close to the edges of the box. Use a little contact cement and put them on the bottom of the stand. Also mount the stand on the two front screws for the most height. I made one to match Whites until I got a couple from them. $ 5 and they match their box. Rob

I use those things pictured above, the set screws are plastic. It works fine but it should hold it up higher, IMO. This is because if you set it down in sand, or the ground isn't perfectly flat or whatever I don't think it holds the machine up high enough. I will say that it works on our MXT and TDI as well, so its pretty nice that way, if I want to use it I just put it on the machine that I want it on. The TDI could stand something a little taller. I like the design overall and it doesn't bug me. Plus its an easy rotate out of the way if you want to swing it around out of the way for whatever reason and its easy to get it on and off.
