Big foot for V3

jrgentry

New member
I'm new to detecting and posting on forums. I've had my (first detector) V3 since late November. Have found $150.00 in clad coins oldest quarter 1965 deepest 8+ inches. I'm detecting at parks and schools in Simi Valley, Ca. 93063. Using only the coin program with bottle cap rejection at 3-4. I found a picture on this forum ref: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,933167,933167#msg-933167 I think this is a Vision with a big foot coil. I guess it's an older coil? I have e-mailed Jimmy Sierra last week and still waiting for a reply. Does anyone know if/where I can get a big foot for my V3? I'm hooked for life, wish I would have started earlier. Thank you for this forum it was all your imput that helped me make an educated decision. :clapping:

Steve is using a bigfoot that would work correctly on a DFX, MXT etc. As he stated it works but not like it would on a machine it was intended for. I will work at the 7.5 frequency but not perfectly.

The BigFoot is currently out of production. Jimmy Sierra was the Distributor and the coil was manufactured by Applied Creativity. The owner of AC pasted away a year or two ago and took his secrets with him. Jimmy has been trying to get one reverse engineered but to my understanding, hasn't been successful in producing them. Your best bet would be to find one on one of the classified forums or on ebay. Make sure you find one made for the DFX-MXT-M6. They were also produced for the earlier models like the Eagle, Spectrum, XLT and even the Prizm series. Although there isn't one produced for the V, The one made for the DFX works very well on it. You can use it on the 7.5Khz frequency or the 3 frequency. If using 3 frequencies, the VDI on lower reading items like pull tabs and nickels will read much higher (nickels at 52, pull tabs at 75 or the same as copper pennies and dimes but the pull tabs will have the 22.5 frequency (blue line) as the top line where as the coins will have the 7.5 frequency on top as the strongest. I hope this helps.

The Bigfoot is being made in limited production, but the waiting list is long...........very long. There are no plans for a V3 version. The DFX/MXT/M6 version works great in 2.5 and 7.5 single frequency and it does work OK in Best Data or 22.5 SF once you learn the quirky VDI's. I would recommend the 7.5 SF with the V3/Bigfoot combo.

I heart my bigfoot on the V3, the VDIs can be a little strange, but I don't mind? Oh yeah...it works with TX boost on. YMMV. but I really like it as I tend to dig most positive VDIs anyway. On single frequency I bet it goes pretty deep, I will have to try that at some point.
