where to go when it rains..

What if the picture is of T.M.B.???????????

I just reread the entire post. Flash, Last12know never mentions 3 playing cards.........how would you know there were only 3 unless you buried the jar!!!!!!!!!

And T.M.B. could be "The Mark Bennett" another unemployed detective who has been posting on this case AND a confessed owner of an identical Magnifying glass!!!!!!!!!

It's all coming together now.

 Without going back to look. I thought he did say 1 card taped between 2 or something like that.. But it looks like 3 anyhow. You almost had me.

Then again,, it didnt take you long to figure that pig latin out,, As if you already knew what it said.:clapping:

i threw the mt dew bottle up there for scale.... it's getting tighter and still pitch black... what you can't see is just around the corner and heading uphill to the rite is where we found the jar buried...

back of the cave...see the geocache? tried to find it on geocaching.com but no coordinates were listed.... wonder how folks know to search for it.. that is the back of the cave and all up hill..

4040571364_824776db21_o.jpg

just to the lower rite of the dew bottle..looks like loose gravel... is where i believe we got it...the top layer was like concrete clay was difficult to get thru the first layer ..once we did that the dirt was soft....we filled in all the holes...

You climbed into that!!! You must be nuts!!!!!

Flash all I did was go to google and typed in Pig Latin and it explains it very clearly.

This works great on foreign coins to, just type in the letters on the coin and it will pop right up.

Take care guys, this has been alot of fun.

That is an awsome find

Serious, Someone left you a time capsule. maybe to say good-bye to a school, an era, or a loved one.
No foul play here, unlikely anyhow.
It will be a blast when you meet the owner.

TON OF FUN!!!
Good Luck Sleuth

It will be fun for sure. He's 65 ,he didnt bury the ring and is happy to get it back. Show him all that stuff and see if he can make any sense out of it. Keep us posted.
Great pics by the way. Very cool. You couldn't get me to go in.:nono:

well i took the ring to the jewelers to get polished... he is coming today a little after 1200 and he is bringing his yearbook.. is going to show me the photo of the suspected t.m.b.

i will see if he minds a photo to post...

he seems like a nice enough guy on the phone.. wasn't really wanting me to mail it.. i'm thinking he is afraid it will get lost again... on a side note.. i found mine and the stone is in bad shape..jostens has a lifetime warranty for replacement of chipped or damaged stones.. think i'll take my to the jewelers and see if he will send it in.

one last thing for now.. my brother went back the cave... he got himself a bh discovery 3300 and was trying it out.. apparently there were a lot more bats and they tend to get active at dusk.. he found out how active.. cramped quarters with them flying out.. said it was nerve wracking seeing them come at you in the flashlight and no place to run.. felt them brushing by etc.. had my other brother and his 14 year old daughter with them...apparently she was the calmest of them at the time.... lol

Hey, on the Andy Griffith show I learned that if bats get in your hair and lay eggs, you will go insane.

Be careful.

well it's concluded... at least my part in the story is..

met clarence and his brother don.... nice guys. told them the story and gave them the stuff... the jewelry store didn't charge for cleaning and for kicks i asked how much for to scrap it and my ring as well... 75 for the one we found and 125 for mine... think i'll keep mine.. and the chipped stone as well.. seems they redo them when they replace the stone.. i think the wear gives it character...

they showed me the photo of the suspected t.m.b..... the guys year book entry reads like a who's who.. latin club, german club, theater, debate squad, cross country track etc.... doesn't appear likely..

the guy in the photo looked familiar to clarence but no bells.. they took me out for lunch and i showed them the cave... if they find out anything he said he'd be sure to let me know... and he did want to reimburse me for cleaning etc.. but i told him i'd feel insulted if he gave me anything.. the value in this find was in the story.

so we talked for about an hour and a half and had coffee etc... like i said nice guys and i invited them to look me up if they were in town.. maybe we'll go fishing... who knows..

seems like i'm constantly editing... keep forgetting something or the other... here is a photo of the ring and it's owner reunited..

one more of the ring after cleaning..
4047046767_120d30cc2e_o.jpg

forgot.. the guy in the photo and the guy in the yearbook...obviously two different guys... one's face was long and the other rather wide... not even close.... if it was put in for a red herring it was definetly effectlve......... so t.m.b. is still a mystery...

Clarence looks like Dick Cheney.

Be very proud of the job you did. If you knew the real story behind all of this it would probably be boring. So are you going to go back into those caves and scrap all of that GOLD off of those walls.

And someone please tell Mark that bats don't lay eggs.

Take care all. Dave

Dave 5710:

I remember that show when it was on at 9:00 pm on the CBS affiliate, KOIN TV in Portland Oregon in the mid 1960s. There was no FOX TV back then.
