I got my little Silver umax---Silvia is her name!----Doesn't EVERYBODY name their detectors??? :)-----She's a good little ole girl--how would ya beat her? --------Del

While I don't thoroughly read other forums, this is the only forum that anybody "admits" to naming their detector...Not even in the bounty hunter forum have I read such a thing. I would keep it in the closet if I were you.

No, Silvia (or her name) are TOO GOOD to keep in the closet!----Besides that, I'm glad there are some other "dorks" here besides me!!----Hey, you go thru life without some laughs & you've missed "half the trip"!----------Happy New Years everybody, Del

how can you improve on the tejon, im finding bullets and buttons that other machines dont find, and im pretty sure my tejon costs half as much.

they have a "great" lineup now!..they try to keep it easy, and they have had tremendous success doing just that!
i really don't believe they are all that interested in trying to go "head to head" so to speak with other manufacturers
i get the "impression"that they don't feel that they HAVE to do that!..their designs are sound, proven, and
they like to "kiss"...AND it's been a very successful formula.,along with their "exclusive" lifetime warranty!

since the advent of "2001" the security industry has really taken off!
no doubt, this area can be "lucrative" to a company "scoring" big contracts!

When I found a 14k gold chain WHILE discriminating out hairpins and paperclips with my Compadre, and couldn't find another machine to even bleep on it WHILE in AM mode, nobody had to hit me over the head and say "?duh??"

I never owned a Tesoro but I have read so many outstanding
things about them.

The best warranty is the business ......that's something we can all agree on!

I agree with that!!!----Fisher (at one time) had a lifetime warranty also---too bad they did away with it.---Tesoro warranty (and service)---best in the business! --------Del

Not only a lifetime warranty, the Tesoro repair dept. is fast and good. The legendary Rusty Henry (who has listened to more detectors than anyone in the historyof metal detecting!) signs off on every repair.

You got that right marcomo!----Here awhile back, I sent a detector in & turn around time took a little longer than usual.---Rusty apologized to me about it & explained that he had to have his appendix removed during that time.---Even then, that detector didn't go anywhere until Rusty had personally checked it out to make sure it was "right" & then signed off on it.----Is that good or what??---I REALLY appreciate that kind of service.-----I have been at the Tesoro plant (Prescott, AZ) several times & they are ALL just good people!------Here's something that pretty much "says it all"---I was visiting with a Tesoro employee in a Prescott city park once.---He was telling me about how well (Tesoro) treated the employees & how he/they liked their job(s).---It wasn't a "snow job", he really meant it--was sincere.-----When you really think about it, a happy employee(s) = a good (well put together & checked over) product! ----------Del

i have heard the same thing in the past!
the "giffords" have always been good to the employees.
it's a well run company, and dedicated to producing a terrific product!
their detectors just plain work well, and are very well built!

Maybe Tesoro's making the money they want to make abroad and in the security industry, and they just don't want to put out another detector at this time. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure they'll put out something new when they feel the time is right.

Hey Hardrock Miner.
You sound like a horse and buggy manufacture ripping into the auto industry in fear that somehow someone is saying your precious horse carage's are inferior.
I clearly said in my post I love Tesoro and I want them to be on top. I am not sure what synapse's misfired in your heads to somehow think that I am a plant from another manufacture LOL.
I am a detector technology enthusiast. If you read my years of previous posts you will see I hold no punches with any company that makes metal detectors. These comments that I work for Minelab, Garrett, or whites are a joke. My first machine was a Tesoro Royal saber from the 1980's. If Roger Ebert criticize movies are you to say he must work for the music industry since he slams so many films and would rather people listen to music? The fact is that Tesoro has dragged its heels for the past few years over a simple connector for a water machine, and they are loosing money to the other guys who offer water machines. I am in the market for a water machine and I would love it to be a Tesoro with their Lifetime warranty. But it looks like it is going to be either an At-Pro or an Excalibur or even a CZ-21. I want Tesoro to survive and if anything I would want my post to inspire them to offer something new. Yes their machines are tried and true. But Ford went beyond the model-T even though at the time it was the cats meow. No matter how hard I try to politely make a criticism I always get the cultist's upset. I mean how many times can Tesoro keep on field testing the Lobo and Tejon in their newsletter. You all know as well as I do that Tesoro's Lifetime warranty is what keeps them in the game along with their current lineup. But things move forward and the Cortes is just not justified for its price and technology when you have other machines that offer the same and more for less cash and less battery requirements. I think it would be great if Tesoro made a Golden Saber with the H.O.T technology but I see nothing on the horizon with that prospect. Whatever happened to the advertisement from Tesoro when the Tejon and Vaquero came out saying to watch out for more of the H.O.T technology? I will say it again that when Jack decided to retire I feel as though Tesoro lost it's enthusiasm. Of course they have the best customer support. Can they afford not to? Like I said look at previous post made by me through out the years. I let Garrett have it for continuing to offer the GTI 2500 as their top of the line machine year after year. And I will lay into them again if 2011 offers the same Green monster as their flagship. The only thing SOME (NOT ALL) of your comments show is ignorance and the inability to take constructive criticism. Just relax boys and continue to use you Tesoro's no one says you cant. I hope to be proven wrong with Tesoro getting their act together in the form of a new waterproof coil plug and/or a new water machine with that fantastic Lifetime warranty.
I am genuinely sorry if I personally insulted you, but I can not sit here and be accused of being a mole when the proof is in the pudding in the form of equal criticism of all manufactures for dragging their heels. I think the entire detector industry is dragging their heels offering the same items over and over again under the disguise of " new and Improved" Batteries for instance and LCD technology. Why no company has not gone to the ultra small battery packs offered in cameras and handheld video games is beyond me? technology is mainstream cheaper and why the detector companies are late adopters is beyond me. And I do not want to hear it that most of the Tesoro's only use 1 9V battery. The only reason they do is over an ordering blunder on Tesoro's part when they where making the Toltec II. This can be confirmed with Tesoro, just call them and ask. The reason the Micro-max type of Tesoro detectors exist is because they where committed to this overly huge order of meters for the Toltec II. They needed to do something with the extra meter parts and thus the Micro-max machines where born. Some say that that is when Tesoro started to loose its bearings. I am saying it like it is guys and once again sorry to get your coils in a tangle. Honestly I am sorry but I will prepare for the incoming onslaught. And yes I use a Sovereign GT. That does not make me a Minelab employee. LOL

I personally don't think ANY mfg. is dragging their heels. When trash objects can mimic ANY valuable object, beep-dig is the only way to be sure. Present day units can only ease the pain and provide mostly entertainment value for the aspiring detectorist. It all seems so easy to comprehend to me. I honestly believe the present iron defeating technology as in the AT pro and similar higher priced others by different mfgs. was all started by the simple Compadre and it's ability to find gold in these conditions. It's often passed off as a toy, but it just will not go away and the concerns about depth cause it to be passed over even more.:surrender:

Aw don't sweat it Jason.--If they're going to "tar & feather" you, they're going to have to round me up to!! ---In addition to using/loveing Tesoro, I ALSO use/love Minelabs, Fishers & Teks and I don't work for a SINGLE one of those companies (shock)!! :yikes:-----Likeing Tesoro AND other detectors doesn't necessarily make me (us) a bad person, do it????----Hey, did I ever tell you about my little Tesoro Silver umax??--Her name is "Silvia"--I LOVE that little girl!! :cheekkiss:--------BTW slingshot---If you REALLY want to fight ('conquer") the iron--get a little G2, I LOVE that little girl to--and no, FT hasn't got me "in their back pocket" either (no more than Tesoro does). ------This whole subject has gotten a little off track but the bottom line is---this IS a (great) hobby--and--it IS (supposed) to be fun, right???------I'm goin 'tectin, today's the day I find that gold coin!! ;)---------G'day, Del

jasonspaz1 i srill own my tesoro Royal Sabre that i bought new way back when and it still looks as new as it can for such and old detector, had Rusty tune it up a while back just to make sure all was well for her.I would like to get back in the Tesoro family again some day but like you was not totally happy with all the models being the age they are so i finally broke down and went to a diff brand..I wish the Giffords well but i see other brands taking a bigger piece of the pie....Have a great spring and summer this next year to you all....Markmac
