Sorry to whip a dead horse.

Instead of saying things like " Is Tesoro in trouble" or "when is the Tigershark going to be back in production" I will just say that Tesoro is the only company that has not released anything new in years except for new lower poles. Take it for what it is but Tesoro needs some new machines. Yes I know that their current line up is good but some of the newer middle range detectors from other company's are getting all the fanfare. Perhaps the Gifford boys just don't have the passion that their old man did. A simple statement on their website saying something to the affect " We are still here and wait til you see what we have under development" would go a long way in garnering confidence in their R&D .
I love Tesoro and always have. But come on new lower poles and that is it? I have heard everything like that one of the brothers has health problems and/or one of the brothers sold his share to pursue other things? Perhaps they are just rumors, but those are the only rumors you hear about. Nothing solid is coming out of Prescott. And when it takes years to solve a coil connector...... Ok sorry I wont say it
I want Tesoro to be at the top. We all do!

Take Care
HH

I would actually like ANY company or engineer step up to the challenge and break the 20 year old technology instead of "improving" on the old.

Geez-don't know what got into me-guess I've said all I can say on the wonderful Compadre. I really don't care about this topic anymore. If they did make the "miracle" machine, newbies wouldn't have to work for their finds and there would be holes all over the place, and everybody would be buying a metal detector. I like it the way it is-those who are out for fun use the ID machines and believe whatever it says and leave the gold and stuff that ID as bad for the"dig it all" guys. Heck, I even saw a gold ring on the ground with my eyes, and it turned out to be a PLASTIC gumball ring. If the best God-given detector can be fooled--. And what does it take to find a ring a couple of inches in the ground?

"If they did make the "miracle" machine, newbies wouldn't have to work for their finds and there would be holes all over the place,"

Yep, then metal detecting would be banned everywhere and it would be dead as a hobby. I'm really tired of people trashing Tesoro because Tesoro is not doing what "they" want. I strongly suspect this post is just a competitor or his lackey doing his level best to turn people away from Tesoro.

I am with the OP. I am no competitor or lackey. I am just a Tesoro guy who wants more. Not a miracle machine. Maybe a waterproof TID Tejon.. Bought a used TS because it was the only way.

What a laugh...your post "Sorry to beat a dead horse" is just above the post "Bring back the best of the old models". Nuff said.

Just look how long Garrett took to produce a new machine that can now maybe compete with other brands.
Garrett has been in the dumps for years. I liked the Gti 1500 and 2500 for non mineralized soils. To me the AT is nothing more than a
repackaged 2500 with some newer bells and whistles in a Black ACE 250 case, made waterproof without the imaging.

If Garrett owners could wait 10 years for a newer version Gti-AT Pro, then Tesoro owners can wait for the Tesoro ALTerra. Tesoros new
water proof all terrain metal detector. Can't rush perfectionists.

puh puh please,,,,

the reasoning is "probably" because they DON'T have any thing "new"
under development...only time will tell!

garrett appears to be concentrating their "efforts"
on the "security" market which,PERHAPS is a more
profitable market?...dunno for sure!..just an opinion!

Reasoning should tell you they do have something under development... What company, as big as tesoro, doesn't have anything in development.. I'm willing to bet its something waterproof since the tigershark is " *Temporarily out of production* " (that's from their website). I'd say they are working on some new stuff..Otherwise they would just call it quits and hope to sell off their remaining stock. What company just sits back and dose nothing. They know they will have to pay the bills.

More than likely so, have to go where the money is and security is big business.

If the un thinkable happened and Tesoro went kaput, I would sell my hunting rifles and buy a couple more units. May sell one anyhow to buy a Tiger. working on an old Garrett now to trade off for a Tesoro. The only other brand as far as I am concerned is Nautilus, and my area is not well suited for them due to trash. relics limited, but i do plan to acquire one in case later. I wish they would team up with Tesoro. My buds have all of them. Nautilus does not change much. These pro relic hunters i know use them in their travels, and guess what they also carry? Tesoros! If ya can't beat'em, join'um!

Could be probably said as their newest models cost half as much as competitors and go just as deep and many 20 year Tesoro's are going strong...with a company that still has parts and delivers fantastic service after the sale. I will say a meter model is needed to keep up with the competition and a lightweight oldie but goodie like the Toltec 100 would be on my wish list..

My observations are made from many of the Tesoro's old and new I have used over the years...

Not to much in the way of water hunting around here so I'd love to see them come out with a model comparible to Teknetics T2/T2 SE or at least the Omega 8000,

I got my little Silver umax---Silvia is her name!----Doesn't EVERYBODY name their detectors??? :)-----She's a good little ole girl--how would ya beat her?---Depending on how I want to hunt, I can put the 5.75" concentric, 7" conc., 3X18" widescan, 8" conc. (stock) coils on her.----Plus, if I want "ridiculous" deep depth out of her, I stick the 10X12 conc. on her and WOW--"look out Nellie"!!------Nah, I don't think we need another Tesoro detector---got excellent ones already.--------Del

I got lucky. My Compadre is already aptly named..

Hey Del, Little Tess ( my Bandido II uMax and Sylvia's sister) says howdy!! Remember when they were making the original VW beetle and one of the biggest selling points was that it didn't change? In decades of "magnumitis", has sales for the 30-30 or 30-06 dropped off? We live in a technological society and some expect the latest technology in what they buy and that's their right. There are some of us, however, that were raised in a generation where quality and service were what mattered. I like Tesoros although I also have others. I like knobs and being able to control the detector myself. If anyone isn't satisfied with what Tesoro is marketing, then please look elsewhere. They need to stop trashing a great company, with great products ,and the "best in the industry" service policy. Who else offers a lifetime warranty on their detectors? Do the new " whiz-bang" models from competitors come with one? Why not? Please be happy that Tesoro doesn't change the decals and color scheme, add a 12" coil and sell us a "new, improved Tejon PRO"!! Are there deeper machines on the market? Sure. Are there better TID machines out there? Probably. Are there better made detectors with a better reputation for quality and customer satisfactioin on the market? Answer that yourself.
