Seems the focus on the posts is not on the actual X-70 . . . .

does the exterra series Id target properly in the all metal mode .......like do square nails come in and are represented by an id number ?? and is the lower 7.5 coil better for deep silver ? (provided ground conditions are moderate) and do you see one set of headphones to be more adequate for the exterra series than another ?? and if so which do you feel is best ?? thanks >>>

If you mean the ALL METAL option in COIN & TREASURE on the X-70 or the ALL METAL mode on the X-30 and X-50, then yes, you can ID targets in all metal but remember, it is NOT a true all metal non-motion search mode; i.e., it is a motion dicrimination mode with everything acccepted. Might sound the same but for those that use detectors with a true non-motion all-metal search mode, they are two totally different search modes. On the X-70, the Prospecting mode is a non-motion mode but it will not target ID in that mode . . . . . just beeps on targets beneath the coil which is what prospectors want.

The LF coil is better for the silver and bad ground but the MF coil is a good general purpose coil . . . .

I'm sure you will get as many different answers as you do posts. Everyone prefers something different. Hate to say it but I use a low-proced set of Calrad's with the 90 degree plug on the X-Terra's and they work fine. Tried the Depthmaster phones which also did fine, especially in the winter keeping my ears warm. But it's a matter of personnal preference in terms of weight, comfort, response and price.

I have the X-50 and have been waiting for a 5" coil. I assume it will be 7.5, but, what size will the LF coil come in? Which will be the best for park hunting, where we don't want to dig any unnessary holes? I have the GT for the beach and I won't be using my X-50 there. Thanks, I enjoy reading all your posts, and, your books too, for that matter.

Keep in mind that the X-50 can only use the MF and HF coils . . . . the LF coil is only for the X-70.

As far as coil sizes for each frequency, that is still in development and what I used during the testing portion may or may not go into production since most coils I got were hand made to test something out.

I am looking forward to the DD coils - preferrably the LF or MF - for coin hunting . . . . 20 years of DD usage has got me in a mindset

To be honest though, the stock coil with the new pinpoint system they developed, the X-5-, 30 and 70 do a pretty decent job zeroing in on a target! See if others agree with this feature . . .

would you say It is similar to hunting the sov. in all metal ,with the exception of now with the exterra you will get a number to accompany the tone ytour hearing ?? I use the sov. as you may know ,and i understand they are two totally different things ..I guess what I really want to know is ..with the sovereign in disc mode the threshold dissapears when over square nails and the like (super common stuff at old sites)so you then go into all metal but you get no numeric id , you just have to try to ''size the target'' and dig pretty much all smallish targets to get coins at theses places,if you run disc you just ''null out'' over these nails which are blanketing the area,so your reduced to hunting in Am or just trying to weed your way through which is virtually impossible......would I be able to go in with the exterra and zip through and id all those smallish iron targets??? I hope this is something that makes sense............Thanks for your time .............Adam

Yuo are onteh border there . . . coppper a tad better than the MF but brass would actually hit a tad better with the HF.

I owned a Vaquero when they first came out and I can assure you that it was not in the same league as the X50.Jerry.

Question on the LF coil various the MF coil for X70. My understanding is the LF coil is a little more sensitive on silver coins. I also understand that lower frequency coils do not always handle the best in adverse conditions. How good is the target separation in trashy areas. How stable is the target ID in trashy areas. Also how well does it handle the above questions in fairly hot ground.
If the MF coil handles these condition with better stability then is the X70 the better buy for coin hunting?
