Seems the focus on the posts is not on the actual X-70 . . . .

Donnie, while I think the X-Terra 50 is a pretty good machine, and am amused by the i.d. and 4 different beeps, in reality the Cibola, Vaquero, and Tejon will eat it for lunch. I got one for something different. It's fun with all the gadgets, but the Cibola at $340 and one simple beep, weighing less also, blows it away. If you haven't used one, save your comments.

I've been using the Tejon since their release to the public or within 2-3 weeks afterwards and owned a Vaquero for 5 months too.
Yes they are good potent detectors in the hands of the right person and in the right place but ....
News Flash, they sure ain't the best thing since sliced bread by any means. They don't fair to well in the iron ore belt at all, at least in my arena, the Super Traq will eat their lunch here and so will the X-Terra and without hesitation.
Point is, what works good for you in places you frequently hunt does NOT guarantee success where I hunt, and that goes for any detector on the market including the Tejon, Vaquero, Cibola, etc; etc; and yes the X-Terra's too.
I enjoy using Tesoro's but after using them as long as I have I doubt anyone could convince me that they were cut from the Holy Grail and all that nonsense.
Stability doesn't always have to come with a price, meaning loss of depth and other nice functions like multi tones and visual display.
Minelab and a few others have proved that many times over and it seems they aren't finished yet.
A lot of folks don't feel the need for TID and multi tones and that's fine with me as long as they are happy, and, I'm happy for them.
Anytime someone wants to come to my hunting grounds and show me how well any of the Tesoro's will put a wiping on my X-Terra, well they are welcome to it, hey, here's an invitation and a chance for you to prove it to me. You can stay right here, I have a spare room and plenty of whiskey for you to drown your sorrows with afterwards :)
Just kidding ya a little bit there, but you are welcome to try your luck and Tesoro's here anytime.
I just like to hunt and would enjoy the company, never met to many folks in the hobby I didn't like.
H.H.
Mike

Sure ain't the one the rest of us are living in. I used Tesoro's for years. I've still got one of the original Sidewinders. I'm talking about the ones with 1/8" jacks and without cam locks on the rod. Sidewinder, Silver Sabre, Amigo, Bandido II uMax, Deleon, Tejon...I've used them all. Garrett, Minelab, Fisher, Shadow...been there done them.

Like I said before, Tesoro is notorious for adding a bell here or a whistle there then re-branding their technology. You keep using that Ebola, I mean Cibola. Just means you are leaving stuff the rest of us can find.

Last I'll say on the matter. Just no fun having an intelligent discussion with someone that ain't equipped for the job.

Whoa, you really got me on that one! But I do question the intelligence of a guy who has used Tesoro's for years--Sidewinder, Silver Sabre, Amigo, Bandido II Umax, Deleon, Tejon, and continues using equipment that he feels is truly inferior. Wow, I got a stomach bug last week- can't wait for the next one!

Neither one is in the Exterra's league. Of course they are much less expensive too. It's really comparing apples to oranges since one is an ID machine with a lot more bells and whistles while the other is not. Plus, you can't even begin to compare the build quality of both machines. I'm sorry but the Tesoros still have the "toy" quality in them. HH George

George, I am totally puzzled by the "toy" quality you speak of about the Tesoro's. They are very well built, and that's one of the reason's for the lifetime warranty, which I have never had to use. If you are referring to their size, that's preposterous. My Apple Mini Mac CPU is smaller than a mouse pad, about 3 inches high, and has more power than just about anything out there. I guess they kind of look like a toy. So does my Walther PPD, but it packs a wallop, just like the Tesoro's.

Actually the new Intel cube looks interesting, and I wouldn't be disappointed to find a P99C under the X-mas tree.

I've tried to avoid making any comments along this line since you first started posting the endless string of "I hate Minelab" posts Friday and even tried to explain what I know of the development and release process as have many, many (did I say many) other people on this forum. Yet, you seem complelled to continue to post the same tired rhetoric complaining about the company, the marketing, the development, the detectors . . . . . even in light of the overwhelmingly, and increasingly hostile responses. Do you see the continuation of your posts adds ANYTHING to the forum? Does antagonizing others do something for you?

If you feel your Tesoro's serve you better for your style of hunting, stick with them and post your comments on the Tesoro forum. I have 6 Tesoro's and I & my family too have done very well with them over the years having started using them from day one . . . . 20+ years ago.

Unless I am way off base, 99.9% of those on any of the forums are there to learn about new gear, exchange ideas and become better treasure hunters and NOT simply do nothing other than complain about things outside of our control . . .

1. Lunch must be served a little differently where you come from.
2. :pulltab:

I know you weren't, I just don't get the reason why other people complain??

I agree on all points (including the Mac Mini and Walther). I love the small size and light weight of Tesoros and find them to be excellent, well-built machines.

Now that you have used all 3 of the X-Terras and probably know how each one does which one would you recommend to a person that coin hunts 95% of the time ( I think that is the biggest use of a metal detector, coin hunting). We are looking for depth, target ID for coin hunting. I know all 3 will work good for coins, but without using it I feel the 70 will be the better IDing detector for coin hunting. The reason is the 30 uses the 4 number segments, the 50 a 3 number segment and I believe the 70 is a 2 number segment, so it will be a better ID plus the multi tones will also help ID without looking at the meter. Am I looking at this correctly??

Thanks
Rick
