Question about age????

38 here and having a blast. I only started two years ago with a Spectrum XLT that I got from a friend fairly cheap. I later sold it for a DFX and recently traded that for an SE and think I have found the one that I am gonna stay with. Before the DFX trade, I got an Xterra 70 and do like it too. I have a Tiger Shark coming the end of this week and cant wait for the warm weather. I guess I got it pretty bad but am absolutely loving it. The get together sounds pretty fun, I think I could talk my buddy arjim into making a road trip depends on advance notice. Would like to meet folks anyway!!

Hello All: Coming this June I will be 85. My wife is 90. I have been MDing for 2 years. Why am I doing this?
Thats easy, It keeps my sanity. We have been married 60 years. The Lord has blessed me with health and strength
to keep going. I am now full time care giver for my wife,24/7...... At 90 she loves to read. I cannot leave her out of my sight. She goes with me and when she needs anything she just opens the car door. Thats the end of the hunting for the day. This is the only way to keep both of us from being HOUSE BOUND. We manage to get out at least twice a week MDing. This is GOOD for both Mind and body. I have found a whole box of Whatsits, Along with some goodies. 615 coins , and a VIETNAM SERVICE Medal..( I am in the process of trying to find it's owner, it has
initials on it.) Happy Hunting. Wyandotte

Hello, Coinnut. You know I'm old if I cannot remember where I'm at:shrug: But seriously....I am the same age as you(46), and started hunting in the early 80's.

In 1961 my father read in Argosy magazine how to build a machine to fine tresure. He got the plans and at the time we lived in Yorktown,Va.For about 3 years we detected the battlefields in the surrounding areas and we filled at least 10 grocery bags with bullets, buckles, buttons and the list is endless. At that time no-one gave a S!!! and there was no laws to stop anyone.Guess what, over time we lost intress and put the bags at the curb for the garbage men to pick up......If I had those today,$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

What you should do is locate that dump!!!! And metal detect those finds all over again. That's too bad for loosing all those items. They probably built a school of something over that site any ways. But it's a thought!

That's Great!! My wife used to detect, but when we went go out together, she would read a book too. Now I mostly hunt woods, so she stays home. It's a great hobby and it does help my sanity. It clears your mind and gets you good exercise too. Good luck to both of you!

Hi coinnut my age 63, retired 3 times, have been detecting since 1972......(36) yrs, started with BFO's, most ther's dont know what they are! Just brought a new :tesoro: Sand Shark, work the beaches in southwest florida, thats my new job:clapping: "Have a Great Day and Year":usaflag:

Ahhh, the good old days of BFO. You get to choose, metal or mineral. It seems like hot rocks are both:rofl:. My Bounty Hunter (Rebel & Outlaw). It was the heyday of detecting. Parks had lots of jewelry and silver!!! And people were friendlier too. I was young then, I wish I knew then what I know now!!

I bough an old Army Mine Detector in 1961, I was 18 years old at the time. I kept it for about two years and found quite a few CW Minnie balls with it. I did not own another detector until two years ago when I bought an ACE 150 while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. Since then I have owned an ACE 250 and I now have a GTP 1350. I am 65 years old and detect every day that the temp is above 45 and not raining. I have never used any detector but Garret's and probably never will, they make a great detector.
Your Friend.

shreve ohio is very close to me!! count me in. ive always wanted to hunt with a bunch of you guys!! im 41 and been metal detecting for only 4 years and have found alot of great stuff. also am retired from the state of ohio and have some time on my hands. who do i contact??

I'm 41.Have been MDing for 3 months, and already my wife and 9 year old son are tired of me pointing out places to metal detect as we drive down the road. They think I'm obsessed with MDing. Is that a bad thing :detecting:

coinnut

I am 41 young and just got my first MD two days ago and can't get enough. I went with the Garrett Ace 250. I have always wanted to try MDing but other things seemed to get in the way. Anyway! I got rid of her and 2 years later (now) there's nothing to stop me.:detecting:

:usmc:

greatwhite,

it's a good thing.:wiggle:

if you really enjoy it,:detecting: sooner or later they will apperciate that, and that
will be your space.

But watch out,:O once they see you enjoying your self,:detecting: they may want
to join in.:twodetecting: But you can still have your space.:detecting:

Just turn on, tune in:nerd: and head out:detecting:

OH........Don't get lost!!!.....:poke:

Here's the truth of it greatwhite. The minute you find a nice diamond ring and plop it on her finger, she'll be pointing out places to you. You'll create a monster. Don't worry, it fades after a couple of decades. Good luck, it's a great hobby. As soon as the kid gets older, you may have a great hunting partner. HH
