Hello......... Before I rush out and buy a Vibra-probe 580, do any of you have one and how do you like it? Thanks all info.. Ron.

Garrett's pro pointer is the one .

Oh there is a contest. If you like loud than the Garrett is for you. The Vibra-probe is quiet & very good at what it does.

>>Vibra-probe 580<<

One of my pin pointers is the "570" and it can cross talk with my DFX. If I put the DFX off to one side, I have no problem.

The in-line DX-1...At times I have problems with false target noise. Also at times it will NOT hit on a target even when touching the coin. It now sits on the DFX in the corner while I use the new Vision V3.

The White's BullsEye 1 works good...but the switch rubber will go bad and then dirt will jam the switch.

The WIZARD VIB-PROBE works good...LOOKS LIKE A GUN ;-) $49

The Cen Tech from Harbor Freight works good...made cheaply...good for a kid/beginner. $15 ;-)

GOOD LUCK

Jerry

Easy to solve that if you have trouble with the sound a few covers of black electical tape and voila quite as a sleeping baby:cheers:

I've got to admit I don't own one yet but this video clearly points to a winner

My 2 Reales worth..

I don't find my loud at all - actually packing the black RTV helps keep water/dirt out of that little opening - and yes attenuates the audio just right.

You may have to wear ear protection - it's excruciating - kids scream in agony and dogs cry for miles around

That looks like a mighty big hole to me. I like the Garrett Propointer but Imight try the Pistol Probe if I have to get a new one.

To tab-nabit. Is that your pinpointer in the pouche, the little charcoal grey thing? If so what is it? Do you like it? Thanks, Ron.

The Pro Pointer is by far the best probe of the four I've used. I've also used the Pistol Probe, Treasure Mate and Cen-Tech.

Yup - that's my small pouch for just the short little local jaunts. Other times, a pouch or two of larger size & leather. Add a fishing vest when out in the hills a good walk away from the vehicle so I can bring snacks, drinks, and load up whatever else I want to take.

Well I decided to go with the new Fisher F Point? New, shipped on E-bay. We'll see what I get. Any else out there using one? ;)

I have the F-Point also. Came with my F-75. I didn't order it extra, it just came with it. I have never installed a battery in it to try it - haven't taken it out of the box for that matter. It's somewhere around the house unless some kids got their meat-hooks on it.

Hey tab-nabit, where did you get the white ball with the rod sticking out of it. It's kinda like ice pick but different.........! thanks, Ron.

They are a porcelain ball with brass probe. I have a few since sometime back in the 80s. If I recall, when I had bought a Whites 6000 Di Pro back then from Kellyco, I ended up with some probes, the thermometer and probably a few other things on that purchase.
I use the probes for lawns to check target location after pinpointing. The nice thing about the porcelain ball is when the probe tip hits rocks, coins etc., it more or less transmits the vibration up into the ball area. The materials allows better vibration transmission compared to say a wood handle that would absorb more. Can kind of work the tip at a target and work it around - rough odd shape like a rock? - sized like a coin? Oh well - was a good thought like using a fishing pole, cork handle compared to foam. Tickle the pole tip on the tips of grass - see what absorbs and see what high module materials can be felt in the hand.
As you can see, the thermometer has seen better days. What happened was it used to be mounted in the backyard. Well the wife pulled it and stuck in the the dirt of one of her plants. You see the results:rant:
The one that is shorter is also a thinner brass rod. It slips into the soil easier and stays sharp from a lot of use. I think I seen them at a local dealer a few month ago. I don't know if it's something in the Whites line or not.
Sent PM for info
