Mr. Seitz....This is my first post in these forums. I just wanted to point out that that bit of glass you found on Easter isn't 1920s. Actually it dates about a hundred years earlier. It's a master salt. It is "lacy" pressed glass made by the Boston and Sandwich Glassworks circa 1830. If you wanna pin down exactly which one it as and how rare (or not) it is see "Pressed Glass Salt Dishes of the Lacy Period 1825-1850" by L.W. and D.B. Neal. There are 5 varients of this design, OP 2, 2a, 2b, 2c, and OP 3. The primary diference being found in the rays on the base. All are scarce to very rare.
BTW I'm a fellow privy hog. Found lotsa pontiled sodas, a few flasks, and some great inks and meds over the years. Found a Cobalt Columbia/eagle flask once.....in about eight pieces.....siggghhhh. Nothin' like a broken $50,000 flask to wreck your day. I picked the pieces for my first pick on the divy. Still got 'em around here somewhere. If I ever track 'em down I'll post pics. about 95% complete. How about an open pontil olive amber Zollickoffer's Antirheumatic Cordial. Found that one in Camden N.J.. Tough neighborhood but was GREAT diggin's. That one is long gone. Money talks, you know how it is. 3 grand is tough to say no to.
I do alot more beepin' (detecting) these days. Love my minelab Exp.. My buddy and I do have a coupla pits lined up for when the weather coolas off a but though. Can't wait. They're in Burlington N.J. oldest part of rown. Some ASTOUNDING stuff has come off the street we are eyeing up. Even dug a colonial there awhile back. Jersey sodas are GOLD GOLD GOLD!!!
