Hi, just getting into the hobby and this site as well.
Waiting on my BH 505 to arrive so I can get out and start finding stuff.
I don't care what, just for the fun of it.
I'm retired so I have lots of time to hunt.
I'm also in Central Florida so the weather is good too.
Glad to be here.
Gordon.

Oopps, just realized I posted before.
I told you I was old.

Just registered. Am not new to detecting but new to this blog. I use an e-trac, and I have an AT Pro for water and back-up. Cold up here in Michigan.

Hello, I am new to this forum, and kinda new to metal detecting. I have a Winbest by Barska detector. I bought it used, and don't know much about it. Any info on it woud be great. Thanks

HAVEN'T BEEN METAL DETECTING IN A LONG TIME I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT GETTING BACK INTO IT.I HAVE A GRANDMASTER GARRETT,AND A FISHER,I'VE HARDLY EVEN USED MY FISHER I BOUGHT IT FOR UNDERWATER HUNTING.ANYWAY I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO GET BACK INTO THE HOBBY I DO FIND IT RELAXING.

I am not new to the forum but it has been a very long time since I have posted. I started using a Etrac but due to back injuries I let the hobby go by the wayside. I am wanting to get back into MD but I am wanting to go in a little bit different direction. I want to use a detector that does not have a screen. I want to learn the sounds the different items make. Later I'll move up to one with a screen. I have looked closely at the Minelab Sovereign GT or the Minelab Excalibur II Metal Detector. Is this a good way to get started or should I back-up and regroup.

Bought a used White's Spectrum XLT about 6 years ago. Sat for a while, but recently got it out and had a blast only a few minutes from my house, finding a .50Cal bullet head, and a 1847 German 2Pfennig coin w/in about 15 minutes of each other. Still using it today, but have a CTX3030 on the way. Should be here Monday. C-A-N-T W-A-I-T to try it out! Now if the ground would just thaw!!! Chipping through permafrost is no fun...

Have read lots about the CTX3030 here already, and am watching lots of you tube live dig MD-p0rn until I can get the new toy out there.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their 3030 intel already.

Hi I'm a new forum member in TN. Have been detecting for 10 months now using a Fisher F2. Love it but looking to upgrade.

I purchased a Minelab Sovereign Gt in July and actually made my first finds in August. I struggled mightily with the sounds that the GT puts out. I was regretting purchasing the GT I also dug a lot of trash. I purchased one of the Meters that Ron in Michigan makes out of a volt/ohm meter and started using it so that I could learn what each sound from the GT meant. After using the GT for six months I am getting to the point that I am learning some of the sounds. My hearing is not what one would call good. I wear hearing aids but upper freq hearing is totally Gone. The GT puts out a longer tone than what other detectors use so your brain has a chance to decipher what the detector is telling you. I use mine a lot at the beach and I have dug some clad coins that were deep. Signals on those coins are weak but being on the beach I dig everything that I can get to pin point. No Gold yet but in time I will find some by digging all targets at the beach. I like my machine and am having a blast digging in the dirt.

Newbie to the forums and detecting. Just purchased an ace250 this morning and just waiting for the gold and silver to start jumping out of the ground!!!

New user - BH 505 - Love it! Live in rural AZ, lots of old mines and abandoned bldg. to look at.
Any ideas??? Any other SW AZ users?

Hi Steve Herschbach. I have been mining for fifty years and I have a few gold mines that should be re-opened. I have one of them listed here, http://brownstonemining.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29&sid=63bf45c146257a9bb35bbb870781bca5

Currently I am serving as the lead metallurgist for the Sutter Creek Gold Mine / Lincoln Project where the California Gold Rush of 1849 began. We thought that one should be re-opened first to establish a new precedence for the modern age of so called enlightenment.

Thanks to new processes and equipment the old mines are still our number one prospects because the cost of exploration has already been paid for and proven.

I'd be interested in looking at a few of your mines as well - the ones you mention on your other site here, http://www.detectorprospector.com/mining-claims-for-sale/mining-claims-for-sale-or-lease.htm

If you want to list the one above on your site be my guest.

Hey everyone i reading and learning from this site for months but just joined today. Been detecting since summer of 2012. Have had the F2 and F4. Now I'm swinging the F75 SE and Prolly will be for a good while.

The Ace 250 is a great entry level detector. It's one among several that I recommend to the new guys in our club. It's easy to learn to use where you can become proficient in metal detecting before stepping up to a higher priced model with more features or a specialty detector. I always have it with me for a new guy to try out....gals too!

:beers:
Cheers

Greetings All,

I've been using the forum(s) for a couple weeks now. They helped me decide on a Garrett AT Pro and they helped me find a great buy (and a good guy) at Big Boys Hobbies (thanks, Bart!) My son-in-law and a co-worker of his bought AT Pros at the same time and perhaps they will be joining us here in time.
I detected years ago (30-35?) in VA and NC for CW relics with a Nautilus and loved it. Just got away from it and now have decided its time to get back at it. I'm in Pleasant Garden, NC with beach roaming and old gold mines in striking distance but my first love is relics and second is OLD coins. Although I picked the AT Pro, I have to say that it's amazing how many terrific detectors by all manufacturers are currently available. It was a difficult choice and I could have picked numerous others and still have picked a great detector. That's enough for now. Thanks.
