My thoughts on the new Cazador...........

n/t

I love Tesoro's but they seem to limit all the detectors with just a 3 3/4 turn ground balance, Our ground is so hot here it needs at least a 10 turn, Minelab PI's have a tough time here, without a DD coil. And several deals have tried with the GPX 4000's with a mono coil and had to switch back to a DD just to cut out ground noise. LoboSt works pretty good with auto ground, but that's the only one. Ok Ok I came back to check in sooner than 6 months, but it looks like speculation is all we have at this point on the Cazador.....as people get their tax checks back and are spending them on other detectors....Tesoro...ya missed the boat this year....shift gears, I think there are a lot of brand loyal users who would like to see this offering.

This is not the only product I'm waiting for that's new and improved. Not easy but hopefully the wait will be worth it. I got my first Tesoro the end of December, a Compadre, and have been very happy with it. Time spent learning the tool and the best way to use it have been great. I'm sure in time I'll be looking for another detector. If their new offering is water proof with the option I have for shallow water detecting I might be on board with it sooner than later.

While I agree with you......... let's cut Tesoro just a bit more slack. I would think that Spring would be the target release date....it better not be much later.

Well you better think again then!-----I talked to the lady at Tesoro & mentioned I was hoping for a Spring market release date on their new detector and she said "that's too soon for us".-----Guess we better cut them quite a bit more slack!

They probably would have released it months ago but all the people with big expectations probably made their offering embarrassing so they went back into the hole.

From what I have heard.....................might as well just go out and buy an Outlaw.
Spring is around the corner, grab a detector and go hunting, have some fun with what you own.
Don't get depressed not getting that new Tesoro, you know, there's life beyond the Kingdom................if you can get out.........LOL.

Well...with all the "build up" the "come up with a name game" etc..... if they just keep putting it off longer and longer..................it better be a really fantastic detector. If it's just another "typical beep and dig with minor improvements" they will surely tick off a lot of potential customers. Hope our wait will be justified. I do want to buy a Tesoro...but not at all interested in an improved Outlaw..........that's not on my agenda.

I have been thinning things in anticipation of the new release but after all of this Hype and no response at all from Tesoro other than a name for the new product . I think I have deduced an Outcome . it will be a cross between a Golden and an Outlaw . I don't see Tesoro improving much on a Target ID Machine as they would have done it before now to stay up with the competition. Same thing as with the Outlaw it is nothing more than a revised Bandito II

Bought the Outlaw last year. It fills the bill for my relic & coin hunting style/needs. I'm hoping for a new machine for prospecting. If that don't happen, I will return to the Lobo, Fisher Gold Bug, or Garrett AT Gold. I guess the last two would be my Tesoro "upgrade." It would be a tough call because I used the Lobo before. The discrimination was awesome. I can take a flat nail, put a dime under it (air testing) and it would still see the dime. We tried that with the MXT and it failed. I love the MXT. Great machine but my swing arm is jacked up. Otherwise, I would have one right now. There are many great detectors out there.
I work in a Casino. Tax returns are now flowing into the slots. People feel good (and rich) right now. What comes next? Oh ya, PROPERTY TAXES! WoW! What a great time to release a product. :clapping:

I will be ecstatic if Tesoro does a remake of a Vaquero or Tejon, but adds tone ID. It would be a plus if this type of detector is able to be under water to ten feet or so. I don't think Tesoro has the financial resources to design a multiple frequency or a unit far superior to the Deleon or Cortes. I hate the saying "it is what it is", but I like what Tesoro currenty "is". Don't expect anything earth shattering, just another lightweight, well performing, reasonably priced detector. That is Tesoro's small corner of the market.

I agree totally . It would be an awesome setup on the Vaquero I wish I would have kept mine but I thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence and went a different direction now I am in debate on another Vaquero this time with the high tone mod if Tesoro will do this still? or to get another Tejon Choices, Choices where do they stop! Not going to wait on the new release . I just cant make myself believe they will do that much improvement on what they have now . As you state their small corner of the market .

My guess is that they may be blowing out inventories on a model or models that may have their sales damaged due to a new but similar release. However, THAT should have been done a long time ago, before tax season and SUMMER!

You could be right there . But I have noticed a decline in some dealers handling the Tesoro line . I know of one here in Texas that no longer sells them due to a problem with his supplier . whoever that might be not sure I was under the assumption they received stock straight from Tesoro but apparently not .

Anyone consider they might go PI on a prospecting machine? I love my Lobo ST but this would be interesting and maybe pull some interest from the other brand loyalists. Either way Im excited to see the new machine and here about its features.

No i don't think that Tesoro will give us a waterproof Lobo with P.I technology I think that is beyond their capabilities. ( But I would welcome the surprise). Let's face it simple beep and dig is all they can produce ..........they are building tape decks............. in and age of MP3's and we all know how that will turn out!!! LOL

There are people out there in the music world that still prefer the pure sound reproduction of reel to reel tape decks and I heard that the LP records are favored by some. I know one thing, I like the analog one tone audio on the Tesoros, they tell me much more than the on/off digital audios on some newer detectors. There are audio differences in that one tone.. that I can tell the shape, size and depth of the detected target just by using coil technique. Tesoros also have a better iron discrimination circuit than any detector I have tried, or seen in person with a signal comparison between detectors on a un-dug target still in the ground.

I checked into this and have found it to be true...................there are many Tesoro "resellers". You don't have to buy from Tesoro.....but then again who cares as long as the customer is looked after. .I'm more concerned with the part of your statement that says there is a marked drop off in Tesoro dealers....................this is especially true in Canada. Their brand is showing signs of wear. A new "top of the line" flagship detector would definitely revive the brand . I was also shocked to find out that one of the Gifford's sons has left.............there's more cause for concern Wow Tesoro is a ship in rough seas.
