appreciate anything you would care to contribute...It's good to let people hear how the coins actually sound..A lot of machines read Silver just a little different from clad............
PS Welcome to the metal detecting forum.......Were honored !!!!

Montanagold:

Thanks but why don't you pick them...............I posted the winners so everyone else that hasn't found Silver is good to go...Thats super of you ..But if you want me to I will. let me know I will send you a PM........

Now the Silver is getting a little thin in the open public parks, or some are just to deep for a lot of detectors.

It's out there in quantity still but only in certain types of sites. Doesn't come out of the ground as much as it did in like the 70's but it's out there. Here are some types of places it can consistently show up still. Hope this helps a bit.

1. Right up tight to the curb in parking strips. So many people end their sweep there and usually old form nails are there to mess with your signal. Work the area laterally. Frequently, silver tends to halo out to lower VDI's, here, it seems.

2. Slopes. Lots of people use improper sweep techniques here. Again, working the hill laterally will give you the other angle (that is passed up for ease of searching by others).

3. Oddball areas that only produce a few items. These usually are fast areas to do because of lack of signals. (Here are the areas that you would reap real benefit by owning machine that has fast target response.

4. Driveways. Hard digging here but... people give these areas less attention because of it. Coins can come out rough but...it's silver!

I never have, but it doesn't surprise me as I'm in historically, one of the poorest states in the Union. So, I relic hunt more than anything else, because it usually a waste of time to hunt old homesites unless you know they're early enough that there might be CW relics there.

I have found silver, but never any gold. Got any extra lying around? Haha. Just kidding. What you are doing is really a nice gesture.

yessir, that's a nice thing for you to do, el. i've also been watching this neat post. it's a great way to give back. your god is surely smiling upon you now. hh!

Jasper12 says on pg. 1 that he's found two silver quarters. Bluewhisper also says that he has found a silver ring before on pg. 1. Not trying to be a poor sport, but how could they win???? You said no silver whatsoever?????:starwars::shrug:

I ended up with more coins than I thought so my pics are, Boris, Tseeker, Pascalburns, Roscue2 and DMJ got one for canewrap too, if I missed anyone let me know. and these people send me your mailing address and I will send:wave: Here is a picture of the coins I will send at random. HH

I asked about SIlver coins......Ring was found at Laundry eye sight not Silver.. Jasper posted twice I didn't see the two SIlver coin post..My error.

Jaspers post

Thanks for this topic Elton.I was beginning to think I was the only one not finding silver coins.Sometimes I log on here and other sights and it seems like everybody and there brother are loading up on Silver coins. It's like walking into a casino and it seems like everyone is winning except you. After reading allot of the other replies on the thread I now know I'm not alone. It tells me if I want silver then get out of the Tot-Lots and start doing some research.asking permission to hunt older home's.etc.
If you think about it ,it's been 44 years since silver was put into our coinage "that's a long time" so it's just not going to be popping up every day, week ,month or even year.I don't feel so discouraged about now.Just my thoughts
Pat

I missed his first post...................you are correct. No Silver coins were to have been found...............Sorry Jasper.......you are out.....
