I have run out of detectors :sadwalk:

I see you've crossed off Garrett's but the only one I see on you list is the ACE 250. That's a great machine for the price, but look at the 1500 or 2500 with imaging.

Or, as indicated earlier, the 1350 with profiling. You might find them addicting. The 2500 is the ONLY Garrett with true ALL METAL mode, so I've been told. They have a 9.5 and a 12.5 inch imaging coil available for the 1500 and 2500, no other imaging coils that I'm aware of. The 1350 appears to use a timed analysis to determine the size of the target. The imaging coils have three internal coils I believe.

Best of luck!

I haven't used the F5, but if you're looking for something different, but with which you will be familiar, the F4 will blow you away.

You don't have a DFX, E-Trac, or a single Garrett. Quit playing around, you've got a lot more detectors to buy.

That's right Mike, quit playin around!!!---Repeat after me (5) times--SLOWLY.----"I'll buy another Coinstrike", "I'll buy another Coinstrike".---You may substitute the word "Coinstrike" for "DFX" if you wish.---Ya know you've been wanting to try ANOTHER one of them to!!! :bouncy:---Hey, get an Etrac!!----Aren't you SO GLAD for all this free advice ur gittin on this thread?---Me, I'm goin to try an Omega! ;)---Wishin you the best with this malady of yours.---Be nice if some of us could find a cure for this "problem", but life wouldn't be NEAR as fun then! --------Del

I have hot ground. Fixed gb machines have to have a very specific purpose for me to want to try them. They don't operate well as multi purpose units for me. The fixed gb units I have have specific purposes:

The Golden has the Cleansweep coil for covering large area efficiently for recent drops.
The Alpha as "alum notch in" with an easy to read and accurate depth display for hunting aluminum range targets at depth.
The Compadre belongs to my wife and she's in love with it and won't let me sell it.

My F5 covers everything else. I'm still working on the Omega.

Hi Jeff
Shooting is an expensive hobby for sure. Did you see the vid where a guy was shooting a 50 cal at a steel plate a 1000 yards away and the bullet bounced back and knocked his ear muffs off his head! :surrender:

Good thoughts to ponder.

Hi Wayne!
That is a good idea. I think about it from time to time, especially coils. I think how great it would be to have a Cleansweep type coil for my F5. It would be a large investment of time that I don't really have though. But its percolating.

Maybe someday I'll break over but right now there is just no interest in them.

Mike you are the main reason I bought the Fisher F5 and if it would not look so funny I would give you a hug. great machine!!!!!!!!!

handshakes and high fives and :beers: are fine

That is not that bad of an idea, Elton. I did that with my production model T2 and F75. Loaned them out to some folks so they could try em out and see what they thought about them. They just had to pay shipping charges both ways. You have to really trust the folks you do that with, though. You want the unit back (without a hassle) and you want it back in the same condition you sent it out in. That kind of trust has to be demonstrated and you can pick those people out of the crowd. They are the ones whose reputation means more to them than the money does.

I've decided to hold my money for the new Fisher Gold Bug. Should be out in the next couple of months.

Hi Mike,

I've been reading some Fisher posts for a while on this site. I've noticed you really like the F5. I'm wanting to pick up a new detector and have been back and forth between the F5 and the F70 and was wondering if you have swung the F70. If so, what are the major differences, in your opinion?

I'm somewhat familiar with both, but just wondering how each handled; pinpointing; depth; ground balancing, etc.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Rob

Hi Rob,
I've not used the F70 yet so I can't speak to it.

What is it about the F5 you like so much? Is it the knobs and the easy to ready layout on the screen? I admit it is a very cool looking unit. Considered getting on myself for a while but wasn't sure if it would work well on the beach in the wet sand area.

If we know what you like than maybe we can suggest something. I am currently looking at the new Minelab Safari.

Had my F5 at the Atlantic and it runs very smooth in the wet sand area. Had no problem with the GB, the only time it would jump around just a bit was when you hit a patch of black sand.
