I have run out of detectors :sadwalk:

Mike Hillis

It is a sad day! I have money to spend on another metal detector and I can't find one that has any attraction for me. I can't even find one I've owned before that I want to repeat again.

Been struggling with this all weekend. I did order a Tek Alpha 2000 last week because it caught my eye but other than that I just can't find any enthusiasm for any of the others.

Am I experiencing beeper burnout? Will this pass or is my malaise permanent?

:help:

Have you given the detectors a fair chance? There is a bunch out there. I have been trying to find the ONE also. I recently tried the F75 LTD. It is the most powerful detector I ever held. But there was just too much noise for me. People that can concentrate with all the chatter will have a powerful detector to find some deep targets. I traded it even up for a new Excalibur. I have only tested it in my yard. I like it so far. Now I need to drive 180 miles to the beach. As far as land detectors I still have the XL Pro. So no menus on either detector. I think I am starting to see a pattern. Good luck with the detector hunt. Maybe a new model will come out by Spring.

I have a Fisher F5
I have a Tesoro Golden uMax with a cleansweep coil
I have a Tek Omega 8000
I have a Tesoro Compadre
I have a Tek Alpha 2000 in transit.

Mike it looks like you have it pretty well covered.

What is it you're looking to do with a detector that these aren't doing up to your satisfaction?

Brian

You still have Notka, KTS, Sledopyt, Zetex, Notsi, Vista, Morsiani, Rutus, Gold Mask, Ducat, Armand, Demet, Atlantis, Blisstool, Viking, Location Technology, XP, Aquasound, Fieldmaster, C-Scope, Deeptech, Wilson, Discovery, Minelab, Whites , Detector Pro, Nautilus and about another twenty manufacturers products to try. As many of them make several detectors it should be enough to keep you going for several years at least.

The detectors you have a plenty good for finding stuff, maybe a new researched hunting spot is in order. No detector will find the metallic objects you desire to find if they are not in the ground. I know reasearch is harped about in all the publications and internet detecting forums, but it is true. I have been fortunate to have searched a few virgin spots, and let me tell you, as long as you have a 'good detector' in your hands, it does not matter what brand it is. Location, location, location is the key to finding the good stuff.

Mike, I'm quite sure your dilemma isn't perminate and something shortly will pic your inquisitive fancy. I also suspect "location" has little to do with your quandary. Save your shekels for a bit. Something new is just over the horizon if your not interested in trying the LTD's.:detecting:HH jim tn

I guess my dilemma is mainly due to the fact I caught up with the American mfgs offerings. And here it looks like you have given me a delightful list of mfgs previously unknown to me to check out. Though I have taken a peek at Armand and XP in the past.

Thanks Brian,

I have lots of good locations. Part of my fun is trying out different units and the various features. Looking to see what clicks and what doesn't. Most of them have been "okay", some have been awful, and every now and then I find a true gem, like the F5 or the Golden uMax. The usual suspects here in the states have run out of offerings that would drive me to buy and try. Well....To be truly honest, I do have a Whites Spectra V3 on the try list but I will only purchase that one with my F5 gold finds and that is still a little ways out.

Is being a detector addict a problem? After all, if something is worth having, two or more is even better. Right? I currently have 8. LOL

Mike, the Cortes is a good remedy for sleepless nights, panic attacks, fear of seeing trash, etc.

Hay Mike, how about a nice Classic III with Mr. Bills Mod on it, has Blue Max 950 coil, this is at least 9 out of 10. $200.00 shipped. Nice Dean

It's truly a sad, pathetic situation. I've owned nearly a 100:stars::nopity: metal detectors. Sometimes I even wish I still had something like my AH Pro:shrug: or the Compass Coin Magnum(about the weirdest detector I've ever owned), or EVEN the very first Tiny Tex bfo-was almost like a walking cane. Believe it or not I still have a Walmart version of the BH Tracker and can almost tell the type of pulltab with it. I'd give anything to have the Golden Umax as the BH turned me on to tones-my Royal Sabre can even be adjusted for tonal id. God, I know beep-dig is the RIGHT way, but my mind just wants to figure out EVERYTHING and just think that someday I'll find the magic in the right detector. Everyone said the Ace 250 wasn't a great detector-but when I got through LEARNING and experimenting with it I found some amazing things to do with it. I even put a tab check on my Silver umax-like the one that was on the Troy detectors, only set at break point of tabs. I found out that my Garrett Hunter BFO would detect gold chains and NOT pick up paper clips, hairpins, etc. God, I love this hobby.

Sorry Dean, but there is no tone id on it. Tones rule you know:goodnight:
