How many COMPADRES ??

When you read the Tesoro Forum everyone will mention there COMPADRE. I really think that the COMPADRE out sells any other detector on the market in its price range and a little above. Just how many of you own a COMPADRE I have three.... Lets find out how many are really out there.... KEN:tesoro:

My brother has two. One is 5.75 and one is 8" coil. If I can't talk him out of one I am going to buy one of my own. :)

I have one of the 7" ones.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a new Compadre with an 8" coil as part of a package I purchased this week. Also
got a new Outlaw with all 3 coils. Needless to say, I have some learning to do with the Outlaw. Looking forward to it.
I too am now a happy member of the church of Compadre.

7" coil owner here.
The best of all worlds as far as I am concerned.
Does the double beep thing next to big iron, but they all do that, hits hard on micro jewelry and targets so small my jaw drops sometimes, razor sharp on the disc and mine has the sense turned up to the max so it goes pretty deep.
I am at least the 3rd owner, I got it from Skiwhiz who bought it from someone else.
It has found a forever home with me, I can assure you.

I have the Compadre's older brother, the Amigo ll with the stock 7" coil, deep little sucker.

I used to own one , but had to sell it in order to get the detector i was intrested in , I still like the compadre like I say I have not found so great a detector as the compadre for getting in and around metal poles and next to fences and sidwaks. i supose the outlaw with the 5.75 in disc would do well but the compadre is ED180 and gives a bit of an edge so its better .

2 here

So is the Compadre a slimmed down Silver or does it have something extra that makes it better? Just trying to figure if people like it as a fun one-knobber or if they take it seriously.

Chalk one up for me...oh and Kapok it is both serious and fun and what makes it special is its alien technology

No it is not a slimmed down Silver, it is a unique model in the Tesoro line up.
Even the folks at Tesoro have admitted they made the thing TOO good, and it cuts into sales of higher end units.

It is a true 180 Expanded Discrimination unit which means it accepts all metal up and down the range...most Tesoros are not and that Silver is 120 ED.

The circuitry is different on the Compadre also, and add these both together you get a detector that can make owners jaws drop because of a few things it can do better than most others at any price.

Take is seriously?
My Compadre that I bought used for $130 has found me about $2000 worth of clad and jewelry in the 2 years I have used it only as a part time detector, not as a prime.
I think that is serious money, not to mention the Compadre is seriously fun to use.

Maybe I shoud have saved my money and bought the Compadre instead of the Vaquero!

I have both so I say, no.
Just keep the Vaq and get a Compadre, too.

Thanks to all of you for the very fun remarks. The COMPADRE really is a darn good detector. You turn up the internal sens. pot and I really think it will keep up with the high dollar ones. It is a lot of fun to use. So easy too. I am happy to see how many of you have and want the COMPADRE. >>> KEN

Can you explain what this means in layman's terms? I hope I'm not messing up this thread by asking this. Maybe I should post the question as its own thread.

Maybe I can help you on that.. If you take a protractor and lay it down so you can see all the numbers. 0 through 180 ... Your disc knob on the COMPADRE will turn all the way down to the 0... This is your all metal. I mean anything... Now on your other tesoros and other brands you have a 120 disc...Now you can not turn it down all the way to all metal like the compadre.. Now I think I am getting mixed up. Something like that.. The compadre is a true all metal. I hope someone else will jump in here and help me out. I know what I want to say, It just don't come out right.... KEN
