Garrett AT PRO Waterproof

Yeah.. but is it RAINPROOF? We get a lot of rain here. I mean a lot. And when I'm not trying to swim with my detector, I'm walking around with it in the rain drinkin' beer. How 'bout beer proof? I've done that before, spilt my beer (though I'm loath to admit it and sometimes it's down the front and I look like I pi$$ed myself, but I didn't, though I'm still pretty pi$$ed. Ha! Ha! ), and I kinda think those beer atoms are kinda smaller since spilt beer gets everywhere, though I drink Molson's and I think the atoms are bigger 'cause it gets me drunker than U.S. beer. These are, like, important considerations.. ya know? ..Willy.

These waterproof questions never appear about the Sea Hunter or Infinium. Why is it so hard to believe that it's "water proof to 10 feet"? Take it at face value. "waterproof". It doesn't say waterproof for up to 8.5 minutes down to 10 feet. Yes, it's hard to believe all these features on a VLF machine that is "waterproof" This is exactly why Garrett will lead the pack on these AT machines. Some of the touted VLF machines "do not" have all the adjustments on the outside. Meaning you have to make certain adjustments after opening the machine up. I never liked that. Garrett stuck ALL adjustment on the front. I haven't seen any VLF waterproof machines have all these features. If there is one I would like to see it. Also I don't know why any dirt digger wouldn't buy one either. No dust problems, clean it up with water, no rain worries and no environmental covers. I think it's a dream machine. This is turning the heads of the other brand users.

That's funny! I do know the Ace 250's are beer proof. I would have to believe that the AT Pro would be Margarita proof!

Talking about jokes and depth.. 2 guys are pi$$ing off the side of the bridge. 1st guy sez " geez, the water sure is cold!".. 2nd replies "..and deep.". Would be perfect if the AY Pro had a beer holder and an under-the-cuff USB powered (Peltier junction) beer chiller for the backup for really thirsty hunting. ..Willy.

Most every question could be answered from simply reading the official Garrett info either posted or on the web site. Here is a link to your answer. http://garrett.com/at_pro/page3.htm

I always hated the plastic or enviro covers. Now you'll look like a pro! Not someone who's carrying their lunch on their machine. It will save on mustard and ketchup too!

Honestly the Garrett AT Pro sounds like a great machine. The Fisher cz6a claims to be splashproof and is very popular. The waterproof feature is something not found on the new Fisher Gold Bug SE or any other new models. Typically waterproof machines don't have an ID meter....makes one leery if it's truely waterproof or just water resistant. Hope the AT Pro works and has a good warranty. Time will only tell how long the seals hold out.

I'm curious whether they're using the speaker as a kind of diaphragm in order to equalise the interior/exterior pressure and make it so the touch-pads don't react to changes in pressure. Would make for an elegant solution and would prevent seal leakage. On the other hand, spilling beer on it might damage the seals. Hmmmm. ..Willy (back to the drawing board)

ID meter, small buttons, and Speaker.....can you imagine using these with scuba gear??? The AT-Pro sounds like an excellent wading machine. Also light enough for land hunting. I'd like this to be a success..... would love an all weather relic machine.

Waterproof is waterproof. To 10 feet also. It has a digital meter for land hunting. No need to even see a meter if submerged because it has tone ID. In the water if it beeps you scoop. Have you ever heard of a Garrett warranty horror story? If something goes wrong they will make it right.

Yes you can submerge it to a max of 10FT....can hunt as long as you want under water as long as you do go over 10FT ......
