Favourite Tesoro

Thanks for sharing parsec, that old Dingo looks the goods....I wonder how many old machines are stashed away somewhere...it would be great if more could see the light of day, and be used in the field again. I'm betting some of them would hold their own against newer machines if they were placed in experienced hands. HH

Tesoro / Laser B1 High Power with fixed or manual G B made for the U K soil conditions, excellent

on heavy iron contaminated sites, and a realy fun machine to use. These machines have a cult

following here in the U K.

Hi All, I've been using Tesoro detectors (amongst others) since 2001, and even in that short time, different machines have come and gone. From what I've read on the forums, different ones are using the newer machines, while others are still using older Tesoros.

What I'm interested to know (if you are willing to share) is this: What is your favourite Tesoro machine right NOW? Is it one of the more recent models, or is it one of the older ones?

Just interested. Thanks.

My favorite Tesoro is the Sand Shark. It is a well built detector, good value for the money, versatile. That being said I like all of the Tesoros I have owned.

Silver Sabre Plus its light to swing inspite of 6AA, like a lobo sorta. two knobs and good with the 7in concentric for the parks. might even let old faithful metal box eldorado go for a good deal--any offers. wrist problems and hate hip mounts so going lighter. if sabre gets too heavy i have an amigo II that is essentially a Compadre i am told, and its a barrell of fun.

Looks like Tesoro have been making machines to suit different parts of the world for a good while now, thanks for sharing leslie.

froggy, I've never used the Sand Shark, but from all reports it's a pretty handy PI machine, thanks.

dixiedigger, My first Tesoro was the Silver Sabre II, and I wish I still had it.....I seem to recall a story about a little old lady who bought an Amigo (as a companion), and pretty quickly found a gold coin with it...I think you're right about the Amigo being replaced by the Compadre...from all reports on the forums, Tesoro is right; less is more. HH All.

One of these "peaked & tweaked" by Keith Wills.

Works really well!

Ned,
Awesome to see your 22nd made Tesoro! Yeah, I would send it Tesoro c/o Rusty! He is a great guy and will take
good care of you. He would probably enjoy seeing the machine too :)
Thanks for the pics

I have been mstly a tesoro enthusist for the lasr several years.
My first I think was a stingray.. Unfortunatly it did not get used as much as it deserved because it was a bit heavy for parks and I did not get to the beach or lakes very often.
I had a diablo umax but again due to work and family it did noot get used as much as I would like and If I remember it was traded to Monte .
I then tried the silver. a good machine but was not my favorite.
I then purchased an eldorado and that was a very good machine.
I added a bandito umax which I added a 4" coil to and that thing rocked on parkways. The grass strips next to the curb outside many homes around here.
Then My collection died aq somebody stole my eldorado qnd bqndido out of my car. But the good members of the original tesoro forum that was actully run my tesoro donated funds and got me a cibola. This is still in my collection but I am considering addng ground balance and a trigger for pinpointing to it.

After that I traged my garrett gta 1000 original which was tooheavy for me and got a golden umax.
I added another diablo umax after that and now I have the golden the diablo and the cibola.
My detectors of choice though are the golden and a different machine. THe GB pro because it is a dave johnson machine like the diablo and light weight and fits in well .
I have severe shoulder pain so swinging heavy machines is just not gonna happen.
I;d like to try the "OUTLAW" and maybe somebody would like trade one to me for my whites gmt with stock 11 and 7 inch coil ?<hint> <hint>.

I think my Fav was the original stingray I got one in 1993 I was able to get 65 rings that year and 41 in 94 .I was hooked on Tesoro ,that same year bought my second fav( which I still use now)Golden Saber ll with my ring money My third fav would be the tiger shark.

I only have one the Vaquero. I came to this forum for suggestions before purchasing it and have made good finds since day one.I really like the idea of the nonmotoin all metal mode of the outlaw. Id like to try pinpointing with that. From my understanding it tune it into the target so there is no mistaking where it is buried.

Jim, I hear you loud and clear on light v heavy machines. I am in the same boat, and cant use a heavy machine. Thankfully there are a number of machines, including Tesoro's, that fit the bill for me. It's great to have a choice and its also great that some manufacturers, including Tesoro, take into account that not everyone can swing the heavier machines.

hatpin, I dont think you would be disappointed with the Outlaw, but it sounds as if you are doing ok with the Vaquero. HH

Wow, this is an old thread, and I'd almost forgotten about it. Thanks for your replies everyone!!
