Favourite Tesoro

For freshwater situations, lake and river environments the Tiger Shark is my choice. Finds small and large gold. I also own an Excal, but love the Tiger Shark in the fresh!

ID unit...Toltec 100 although heavy can be handled hipmounted...runs circles around their newest version ID units.

Non TID...golden sabre 11.....one notch and 2 tones.......Golden U-max has multiple tones and notches which run into each other.

One wonders with exception of weight are we going backwards..

Bobby, bear in mind my soil conditions are extreme and my next choice would be the Lobo ST, great machine.

Furious T,

Three features make the Diablo

Another vote for the Eldorado U-max
I use the stock coil and the 7" coil about equally.
It has paid for itself over and over with good finds.
(My buddy buys new detectors alot, but I find just as much and save alot of coin!)

Thanks PennyFinder, sounds like a great machine, with some features not found on many machines.

Hi werewolf, The Cibola is something else...even with the stock coil (9x:geek: I was finding coins on a beach (dry sand) that were missed by a bloke using a Sovereign with a 15" WOT. Dont know if it was the detector or the bloke swinging it, but I thought the Cibola did pretty well.

I really must give my Silver u Max a go...but, as I said earlier.....it is hard to go past the Eldorado.

When I was working in Australia on a 2 year work visa I visited a detector shop in Perth and there on the wall was,The Dingo. It was made for the Australian Market only and it was a shame it was never sold in the U.S. It would hit hard on everything, even trash. It was designed for the harsh soil conditions of Australia and Tesoro needed a machine to stay with the Minelab....That's my favorite Tesoro.

Thanks candycane! Have you still got yours. I know of the Dingo, but have never seen one (detector, that is). That goes back a few years, too.

While in Texas for a short vacation to visit family,a gentleman offered me more then I paid,so I sold it to him.It was offered for sale in the mid 90's and maybe there was a story about this detector in Tesoro's magazine at that time....Best I can do for you Bobby.

Thank you for getting back to me about it , I would normally email the manufacturer but Tesoro don't answer my previous emails ? :surprised:

Regards Bobby.

Does the Troy X2 made by Tesoro count?

The Vaquero would be my favorite Tesoro because it has depth, light weight, and adjustable Ground Balance.
If it had the tone ID of the Golden it would be almost perfect.

Willee

Willee, I guess any Tesoro-made machine counts....what are some of the qualities of the Troy X2 that appeal to you....and you are right about the Vacq.....a Vacquero/Eldorado /DeLeon with tones would be great.

The Tejon! This machine just hands down rocks. Very easy to learn, it is super light for the all day hunts, DEEP, and well balanced. What more could you ask for?

Tejon is very versatile, relics, coins etc. plus gets great depth in dry sand on beaches (salt)...then you have the dual discrimination feature....yep, a beaut machine.

My favorite tesoro's are my two Panrera's which have a 10 turn gb. notch disc/accept and two tones which are set-able from the front panel. The Pantera's also have the ability to adjust the threshold from the back panel which allows the unit to be tuned for more depth.

Close second place is my Toltec II which also performs perfectly as it should. It has the threshold control on the front panel and has a one turn GB on the back for when an adj may be needed, which isnt often around here.

I have had most every popular brand/type and yet, these two are my main units.

Pantera and Toltec II are older, and by the sound of things, still going strong. Thanks Tony for reminding us that we dont have to have the "latest and greatest" to enjoy our hobby.
