F75 vs LTD field tested differences

Appreciated Jim.Thanx to the guys who contributed answers to my posts here, have a great 2010 and happy hunting.

Jeb, I didn't mention anything about recovery speed. Perhaps that is addressed to a different post?

Thanks guys for your replies, jeb nwr you have some very interesting points, which nobody could clarify, it was not my intent to cause a ruckus over the f75 vs the Ltd ,just to know what the differences were in a few field tests ,side by side ,in the same conditions ,it sounded like all of you guys are happy with the Ltd ,and most held on to thier f75 ,Dont forget to check the E-trac forum :E-trac vs the f75Ltd Happy New Year Earl

I was referring to a post somewhere on the LTD that said the LTD had a slightly slower recovery speed than the Anniversary model. So i made the point that a having just a fast recovery speed or even just a slow recovery speed, could be overcome by having the option of being able to "choose" your recovery speed as the new French detector the XP" Deus" can do.Your at a serious disadvantage with a slow recovery speed searching in the trash, over a detector with a faster recovery speed. It could mean the difference of getting or missing the coin.

My take on the LTD is that in BP they slowed the recoveryspeed down a bit, to get some extra depth (maybe 1 inch), then also increased the volume on the lower lying targets (hence the increased airgap).
Both of these parameters are fully adjustable on the XP DEUS. (Reactivity and Audio Response on the XP DEUS)
This is just my take on the LTD and may not be the truth.

Changing recoveryspeed has a side effect; max depth changes too.

So if I'm correct, the recoveryspeed switch you are asking for is in effect the mode switch on the F75 LTD.
Switching to DE increases recoveryspeed and losses you some depth, whereas switching to BP mode slows te recoveryspeed down a bit and give you the extra depth.
All parameters are adjustable on the DEUS; hence the steep pricetag; it's in effect more detectors rolled up into one.

the LTD still has a pretty rapid recovery speed in the bp mode. Although there is a little depth loss with the 5" DD coil verses the stock DD, that little coil is really amazing in trash and probably makes up for the little less recovery speed. What I am finding in using the bp mode is how well it does on coins on edge, both tone and vdi wise, that I previously missed with the regular F 75. How ever the LTD is doing it, I like it. I can still swing my LTD in BP mode very fast, faster than any other high-end detector I've ever owned, and faster than I'm comfortable to run. The DE mode demands that you swing fast, else the ID is not as good. You cannot do the Minelab Wiggle when running the 75 in the DE mode.

I think my F75 is already an awesome machine and the LTD is clearly better by some margin.

Adjustability is a bonus, but knowledge of the ground you are detecting in is paramount when you
start changing the parameters on lets say a DEUS.
But if you know your soil and you know your DEUS, you could beat a detector with presets.

I don't think however, that many detectorists are that bothered with the electronicsside of the hobby
and just want to start detecting after selecting the on button and 2 or three adjustments.

I myself love all this adjustability of a DEUS, because it opens a world of possibilities,
but after a while would probably use only 1 or 2 preset or selfmade programs.

What is DEUS?

Well thanks for 4 pages of very interesting answers, and 1077 views as of now, well now you can go get another LTD there is another run on them ,lol go gettem Go-rebels,not kidding ,me i waiting for fishers new better machine above ,and beyond the LTD ,keeping the f75 jeb ,i like it .Good Luck to you all ,Putting the last nail in the coffin lol ,anybody wanta help me close it with some ending statements Big Earl Maryland

Fisher is not going to set on their laurels, so to speak, and no doubt are and have been working on the next F 75--LTD--+++ detector. I would be surprised, though, if we were to see this detector any time soon, like this spring or summer. More LTD's? Yes, would be my guess. Nothing wrong with the F 75, but the LTD is the next big step forward. This is all my opinion, of course. HH jim tn

To boost or not to boost lets go boosting all the time a little boost here a little boost there lets pay an extra $1000 for a little more boost you people are nuts just for a stinking boost.
Fisher is boosting all the way to the bank

let's go boosting!..everybody's boosting!..come along and boost with me!..happy boosting!

To set the record straight, the F75 LTD costs $200 more than the original F75, not $1,000.

It's worth noting that the F75 LTD is the :fisher: top-of-the-line detector and it costs hundreds of dollars less than the V3 which is :whites: top-of-the-line.

As for being nuts...I'm an adult who plays in the dirt for fun, so a lot of people probably do think I'm nuts.

But I'm certainly not nutty enough to show my ignorance by going over to the White's forum just to say "you people are nuts" and bash a machine that I never used.

Interesting way to make your first non-:whites: post, R-bass.
