Detech 13" for Sovereign is for sale

The 13 incher is of course 1" longer and 3" wider than the 12x10, so I would think that alone would give it less separation ability, and of course probably why it doesn't get as good of separation as the 11" Pro Coil. On the other hand, that coil does look very much like the Pro Coil, which many say has excellent separation abilities, so if it has a similar detection field it's generating then I could easily see why it would have very good separation, or at least better than a typical round DD coil.

Thanks for posting your experiences so far with the coil, and please chime in some more on your experience will all these coils. Always like to hear this stuff.

So it moves easier in the water than the 12x10? Interesting. I found the 15x12 was too much drag for my tastes in the water. Haven't tried the 12x10 in the water yet though, as I use the 10" Tornado for that which stays on my water shaft. Think I read somewhere that the SEF coils have a more blunt edge to them than say the Tornado or S-12, so that might be why they don't glide through the water as well. I could see that 13 incher becoming very popular with Excal users if it indeed offers low resistance.

I checked out this E-bay site last week, you'll need to read the fine print as they will not ship to the US.

You sure the won't ship to the US? I know many Explorer/Etrac guys were ordering this coil from over seas via Ebay until KellyCo started carrying it. Maybe there are other sellers on Ebay besides that one that will ship to the US?

Searched the web for the Sovereign version of this coil and couldn't even find it on Detech's own website. Looked on Joann Detectors (The UK version of Kellyco) and didn't see it. Looked on ebay and only found this one supplier, which I think you are right you can't have it shipped to the US from them by the looks of it. If you click on shipping and then change where it's going to I don't see the United States listed in the drop down menu of choices. Anybody Email this guy and ask if he'll ship to the US?

JW said they'd have the Sovereign version at Kellyco by around mid May, so I guess it's no big deal to find it elsewhere anyway. I would expect that Joann Detectors will also be carrying it to sooner or later for you guys in the UK. Call'em and ask.

Keep digging, apparently they stopped shipping to the US when Detech work out a deal with Kellyco to be the distributor for the America's.

I asked him why they wont ship to the U.S. this was his answer .

Hello!
For the U.S. and Canada is a distributor:
http://www.kellycodetectors.com/accessories/searchcoils.htm
Best Wishes!
Sincerely Svetoslav!

Apparently both Minelab and KellyCo do not believe there is future in the Sovereign as both company's are starting to wind down on offerings for this machine. Minelab discontinued the meter and is no longer advertises this machine in their new catalog and kellyco chooses not carry this coil, most likely to reduce their inventory of the other Sov coils they have in stock.
I have a colleague in Ireland which inquired on the availability of this coil and found that there was plenty available so I have one coming through him, but it is going to be a real pain in the #$% and expensive.

But JW at Kellyco says they will have it for the Sovereign by mid May, so it appears they are going to carry it. Please give us a report on the coil after you've used it!

Sent JW a PM to ask if they are taking pre-orders for the 13 incher for the Sovereign. Will report back when I hear anything.

Made my own....:yikes:
You made your own what ? explain please . Jim

Hi Bob i saw the pic what coil is that it,s not a SEF ? it looks like the 11" on the e-trac. Jim

Very cool. You should put a How-To together for others. I bet the Geotech website helped you build that thing? Lot's of coil building info on there.

How well does it perform for you? How deep have you dug a coin with it? How much does it weigh?

I do visit Geotech, but figured out how to build sov coils many years ago before I did. Weights 17.6 ounces. So far I've only had a chance to do air testing but I'm happy with the results as compared to Minelab coils and most all others I have made. I do some of my own tweaks which also help. As far as How-to...forgetaboutit, there is just too much involved to try and explain. Geotech would be better for that.

Bob

I went to Detech's website and I don't see the Ultimate for the Sovereign. Not sure where you heard or saw it for the Sov.

This place will not ship to USA but at least the coil is out Jim

High,
When comparing prices UK to USA - don`t forget to add shipping costs and import duty/tax.
Both of those may add up to an additional 25%.

Hey, many of us have been anxiously awaiting Bryce's update on the 13" coil and how it compares in depth and separation to the 12x10. It's been weeks and I think he said he's been too busy with his job and working out at the gym. I have a suspicion he's been field testing the new Minelab for them. Anybody suspect the same thing now?
