Cazador situation??

Ivan

New member
I spoke to a fairly prominent and reliable multi-line dealer and asked about the Cazador project? His response shocked me.....he said Cazador is dead!!! There is no money for that project....Tesoro is in trouble and they can't even put out the Golden UMax or even get the codes for it. So sad. They appear to be going down the Troy highway!!!

Thats scary, I hope they figure it out and start making a profit. I hate to see a good company go down. I think all the new bells and whistles detectors are cutting into their sales. Most people dont realize what they are missing.

well, if you have read the past posts on here. you will find that, that is not the case at all. your mult-line dealer is yanking your crank and does not know what he is talking about. probably wants to sell you another brand unit that he makes more money on.

Your "yank crank" opinion may be true; especially if the dealer doesn't sell Tesoros. However, Tesoro may be "yank crankin' " the public too. Reality bites. Come March, it will be two years since Tesoro announced "heading in a new direction". I am not aware of any company, not just metal detectors, that makes an announcement regarding a new product introduction, then takes almost two years to produce a product. You can argue until the end of time about this but by now Tesoro should have at least come up with a tentative release date.
I am happy with my Outlaw. I've moved on from waiting for new Tesoro product and bought a camera. I am not bashing Tesoro. I'm neither here or there on the fate of the company. If I need a new detector, and Tesoro is history, there are many other choices.
Past posts don't mean diddley squat. Only time will tell.

I recently went through this same type of thing waiting for a new product. It was Replay's new camera the Prime X. Over a year ago talking with their office in CA I was told about a new one. My wife and I shoot video shorts for clients and had been using their then top of the line Replay XD1080P model. I even had gotten PDFs from them to use in presentations when doing talks of things to come in our consulting business. I went an entire season over a year speaking to them from time to time always told it was on the way. The wait was worth it and I've had the new one a couple of months. In the interim I actually had t buy two Sony units to carry us through some work we had scheduled. Bottom line is the wait was well worth it. The new camera is amazing and the firm which is tiny compared to the size of GoPro has likely the best from factor useable action cam out there. We have used it for client work recently with great reviews. All businesses have to be careful with new and improved. A brand must be sure the new can be supported and as much as possible the bugs are worked out in house not in the field with customers. I like the form factor of my little Compadre. It works for me and when I do decide to upgrade I hope another Tesoro will be there at the time.

yes, who really does know? im sure some dealer or people on here who "know more than they can i say" do not really know. the only ones who truely do is the company. so, unless it is from directly from them and not, i heard it from this guy, from a good source. why bother with it. they may have had a model all ready to release and discovered it was not good enough and had to start all over. who really knows but them. so, all these rumors that people think they know, is crank yanking. LOL

Where's tabman?? He'll set this right!!-------Seriously----I got tired of waiting LONG AGO & moved on.----I'm old & can't wait "forever".------For you younger guys--it (may) be worth the wait---I hope so!

Well spit it out, who is this mysterious "fairly prominent and reliable multi-line dealer"? I know you can't say.

Apparently your newly acquired Omega doesn't satisfy you either or you'd be out swinging it and not worrying yourself about the Cazador.

I'm finding that the current models of Tesoro can outpace and are more fun to use than the really expensive latest released models of the other detector companies.

I want to buy some tesoro stock, just don't know how to get it .

I think Tesoro has a niche market and all of their detectors execute beyond expectation. I know there is a migration to higher priced detectors, but nothing is more satisfying then swinging a Vaquero or Compadre and hitting good target. As most of you know I've owned most if not all of the high end detectors and still rely on my Tesoros detectors 90 percent of the time. Why anyone would want to spend endless time analyzing a target in the ground when they can dig it in 15 - 20 seconds and analyze it in their hand? If these rumors are true I hope and pray Tesoro pulls it out.

I have done the same thing with jumping on the next best detector wagon! I hope this is just a rumor!

Haven't we heard this before, maybe just worded different?
Was wondering when some one would start a post again about the Caz to get everyone's juices flowing....LOL
No need to bash your head on the wall awaiting the Caz appearance. There's plenty of machines out there
you can buy and try.

True that!!! I've had the top of the line Whites, Minelab Safari, etc. My Outlaw is the best and most fun detector I've ever had in 40 years of detecting. Now with that said, I admit I'm mesmerized by cool screens with color readouts. I couldn't wait for Tesoro to come out with a new detector (pushing 67 years old:cry:) that may or may not have a spiffy color display so I bought one of those cool indoor/outdoor thermometers with color icons. I think it is the perfect compliment to my Outlaw plus I can stare at it all day!!!

I love tesoros and will always have at least one. Preferably more, like Tabman has. Tesoro has a niche market and have filled it with great detectors. Used detectors pop up all the time and we all trade them back and forth through the used market. If they don't release a new detector I think they will be in trouble. They aren't like other companies whose products wear out and need to be replaced. Tesoros almost never die, and when they do the company usually repairs them for free even if you arent the original owner.:clapping: This is good for us and not so good for them.
I also think that detector tec has basically stagnated. There are limits on how far this type of tec can go and we seem to have hit it about 10 years ago. Tesoro kept building basically the same great detectors, other companies went digital or added bells and whistles that dont really improve the function. They do however improve the sellability. In order to survive a company needs to sell new product. In order to do that they need new product to keep people interested. I was all set to get a Vaquero 3 years ago and then they made the Outlaw. I would have bought the Vaq used but I got a new Outlaw instead. Just for an example. I think Garrett was in trouble a few years back and then they made the AT pro. I dont think they are in trouble anymore. This may be why they haven't released the Caz yet. May be they are trying to build something really new.

That would be a shame if it is true. Maybe that's why we haven't heard much since the original announcement? Beep and digs will pretty much be finished if that is indeed the case. Maybe the years of providing the best service in the industry bit them in the dumper. Let's just hope this is a rumor from a disgruntled dealer.

Well not sure who this Multi line dealer is but have a Good Idea! either way even if Tesoro does not market the Cazador this year I bet it will be out Next Year . I for one will still own and use Tesoro detectors New and Used even though I own another brand and will own other brands in the future but will always have at least three Tesoros in my arsenal, As I have found that the Oldies still perform better than some of the higher priced bells and whistles units out there and one things for sure If the Tesoro company was in a bad way I believe they would have enough Pride to say it Publicly !

Tejon can keep up with the best of theml. Mine has no problem hitting a 10" dime. Comparing the price to high end detectors there is no way I'm leaving Tesoro. I plan on getting more. And I hope the Cazador will be a good one with the depth of the Vaquero/Tejon.

My response to BarryL.......................First let's get things straight ... we do not know if Tesoro is having problems. This only they would know. But if they "were" having problems........then only in "Barry land" would they let the public know. In the real business world companies admit their defeat to the public.....just seconds before they sink or usually............as they are sinking. Oh to be an idealist...again!!!

Well...there was that big push a few years back for all you T users to 'name' the new product 'Cazador'....and its still a market no-show...so on that note alone its only natural a guy has wonderings as to its viability and the overall health of the organization? ...

If any of you loyal Teeboys have some serious dough squirreled away, you should make them an offer to buy the entire outfit!..I would hate to see them go out of business!...this kind of rabid customer loyalty is very difficult to develop...I'm not a Teeboy, but seriously relate to their entrenched customer loyalty and some of the great finds y'all harvest... I had the dough, and they needed a cash infusion, I would most certainly do it...perhaps theres enough of you out there for them to make a pitch and sell shares? I dont know what the answer is, but really, after a certain time, if a mfg is in trouble and need some cash infusion, they should at least look to their 'Tribe' (YOU) and see whats out there before throwing in the towel and going under...

I am an idealist, and hate to see any American mfg go down when all stones havnt been turned over....look to your Tribe, Tesoro, if you are in trouble..these boys here can save you if its possible, or at the very least they will try....or one of them here 'knows a guy who knows a guy'...
