anyone have a metal detector thay can Donate?

I am not sure on the proper procedure with gifts...but what a quick turn around! It has not even been a month since the F2 was given to the child! Also what really is going to be a problem is....you also offer cash! The cash you could of used to buy the boy a detector yourself.... Morris...it is not right...less than a month ago you said you could not afford a detector for the child... Dan was very very generous... How do you think he feels to see you offering the gift and cash for the mxt?? As you know it would have to have been at least a few hundred more to make the deal for the mxt if it was still available.... that is the part that most members would agree makes this very questionable.... Seeing you have the cash now...maybe you should step up and buy Jason a detector.... The way Dan did...

Gregg,

before I got the F75 I had a MXT and Jason used it with no trouble at all.. I made a deal
and got another F75 for it and gave that one to my Dad so we both can go to the North South Hunt.
I did trade one F75 for a Excalibur I still have the other one that my dad used and that I still use today. But you are right maybe I should not have listen to Jason's request and maybe should have told him that the f2 was a gift and not for him to trade but I did what he asked again I am sorry for
that. If Dan feels that he would like to have the F2 and coil back I'll tell Jason and have it sent back to him.

Thanks
Morris

A month ago I did not have the IRS return check and a Safety Bonus from my job that I had no
Idea I was going to get until last Friday.. I have offered to return the F2 to Dan If i was trying to rip him off
or scam someone out of a metal detector why would I offer to return it ??
Morris

Guess I am done with this post... I think the right thing to do is return it... But honestly Morris that is between you and Dan... Good luck with whatever you do.... At least it was discussed in a civil manner... I am sure others have opinions...what you should do...

I agree 100% with you Greg.."The F2 should be returned"...... Morris,Obviously you still have that detector ( F2) under your control. If you did not, then you would never have offered a trade, and, cash deal to LutherLuke.

Think how Dan is feeling right now........Not very good I would imagine.

Why Sir, would you leave that decision up to Daniel...Daniel should not be placed in the position that he has to make the decision. Daniel did what he wanted to do," out of the kindness of his heart". You violated the trust factor here, and made this "Donation" look like it wasn't what it seemed. So step up man, return the detector on your own.It feels like your placing Daniel in the position of.".Well maybe the boy did get it", and when your heart is as big as Daniels he
will not ask for the return...He's much to good a man. Return it on your own Morris....Don't try and make Daniel the bad guy here. He's way above that...
It's your turn to be the "Good Guy" Moris. We all know Daniel is a Good man.

Morris I am not saying you didn't give the boy the detector..I am saying you made it look suspect with your actions. You say you do not want anyone thinking badly of you. Nows your chance to forever correct those thoughts.

I have to agree with Elton TOTALLY... be a man and do the right thing, don't pass the buck Morris.. Send it back to Dan.

My vote's for the return of the detector as you received it.
Let's put this matter to rest, shall we?

GRB

and one last thought.. I am glad your sending it back to Dan...but I am truly hurt by your friends who called me names and everything else... I have lost a lot of respect for some ...

I just saw this entire post today, from the last time I chimed in out about a month ago. Boy, has a lot gone on. I have to say after reviewing everything I am disappointed at the situation. If someone had given me a metal detector when I was that young I would never have thought of trading it. I guess things have changed a lot since I was a kid.I agree with Elton send the detector back to Dan.

The sad thing here is that you started out doing a good deed for these boys but missed the opportunity to teach them a life lesson about gifts and appreciation for the kindness of others. In todays world it is very rare to have someone step up like Dan did in this situation. I wonder how willing he or others in this forum are going to be to step up the next time someone asks for help like this.

Like I have said before I am going to send the unit back to Dan I am not a scammer or did I try to rip someone off.
Yes I missed up by not telling Jason it would be wrong to trade a gift that was given to him so to make it right I'll be buying him and his brother
a metal detector out of my owen pocket .. you have to remember this boys are not my kids.. also this is my last post on this I am sick of it..
in fact this maybe my last post on this forum all togather... have a good life..

I'm not trying to keep this thread going as almost enough's been said and agreed to but!!! I am curious about something:
Were'nt there actually (2) detectors donated; one by Dan and one by Cotton?
Correct me if I'm wrong; just no one's mentioned the "other" detector to my knowledge.

I've been reading through this forum and following some of the topics for quite some time now trying to decide if I really wanted to join another forum or not. I've been meaning to register because I like this site but haven't until tonight. I hate for this to be my first post but I feel I need to say something here.

I just can't get past all the ignorant, ruthless people that was so eager to jump down Bootybay's throat in the beginning just because she had a premonition something was going on. I don't know where or how she got this feeling but she did and I wish Dan would have listened to her. I sat here and read all the harsh comments that were directed towards her for doing nothing but sending up a signal flair for the rest of us to see.

Morris, you were one of the first ones out of the gate to say Bootybay needed to get a life and quit causing trouble. Looks like that one slapped you in the face. No wonder you wanted her off your back, she was ruining your plans of receiving a free detector so you could just embezzle it for one of your choice. You can talk until your blue in the face and it still wont change what you did. There's not a doubt in my mind this was pre planned by you. There's not a kid around at that age that would think of trading a perfectly good detector for another, upgraded one without some prompting from someone that knows whats going on. Kids just don't think like that.

Morris, how do you live in your own skin after doing something like this? Do you feel good about using a child for your ploy? What are you going to do with the second detector GRB was asking about?

I've lost all respect for you Morris and I'll ignore anything you do or say on this forum and any others we might both be members of.

It's just to damn bad that one jackass can ruin the little kindness left in the world for those that really need it.

Over the past year or so I've giving away somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500.00 in cash and detecting equipment for different reasons on other forums to folks that seem like they needed the help for one reason or another. I don't mind doing these things and I don't ever expect anything in return but I'm here to tell ya, if someone pulled this crap on me, I'd be pissed.

Morris, you need to redeem yourself somehow and I don't have the answer for you. Good luck in life.
