Anybody want to start an Ace350 tips thread?

Yea......I guess I just need to work with it more. It's not that I don't have the time! I never was very patient. :stretcher:

One thing that has helped me is to realize that the depth scale is for and based on coins. If you have a coin sized object its depth will read pretty accurately, but if a the object is larger that a coin it will read more shallow than it actually is. By the same token an object smaller than a coin will read deeper than it is. To get an idea of the size of an object that has been pinpointed raise the coil with the pinpoint button pressed, small objects will fall away quickly, but large objects will pinpoint much higher off the ground.

This is what I am trying to say: a car fender at 24 inches deep may read at 8 inches.
: a small earring at 2 inches deep may read at 6 inches.
: 350 says its a quarter, but you can raise the coil at pinpoint 8 plus inches is not a quarter.

I hope this is good info for some of you that are new to MDing like myself. Bruce

I have a 350. I think we need our own forum like the AT Pro.

I agree... or at least an Ace Series forum!

I agree!

Anybody know how to make that request to the site?

I too would like to see an ACE 350 forum on here. Come on moderator, lets get the ball rolling! :clapping:

Where did they all go? I thought we was workin on a ACE forum.

Im 99% sure Im going to order one this weekend...Id like a thread very much.
Has anyone ever used the 9x12 coil with the 350, not the DD coil ? How does that work.
Ill be honest, I hear more negative about the ACE 350 than positive......Im thinking I shouldnt get the 350 now.....

I have used a factory ace 250 coil on my 350, and it does seem a little deeper than my 250, using the same coil. I think the 350 gets its bad name because the DD coil is much different than a standard coil, and they really like bottle caps. After you get used to the 350, you will be very pleased with it. I have a 250 and a 350, with several different coils to interchange between the two. (I like the 250 too, so don't get me wrong!) The 350 is a great detector though.

Is the screen on the 350 the same size as the on on the AT Pro? which I found to hard to read for these older eyes of mine?

I'm new to this forum and I have my second Garrett detector. My newest is the Ace 350 and yes it is different than using the round coil. I've found it to be easier to use than my GTAX400. I've only been out twice with it and have only found some memorial pennies but I am looking forward to my next outing. I'm looking forward to sharing thoughts on this detector.

Darren had told me that he used the standard coil on his 350 and did very well.....with less trash than the DD coil. I went out for a few hours with the 9x12 coil on the 350 and did ok...I defininitely found less trash.....any thoughts ? Are you all pleased with the DD coil or do the other coils infact work better on the 350 ?

I'm thinking that we should all send a message to the moderators through the 'contact us' button at the top of the page... maybe we could get an Ace section then!
