Research And F75 With Small Coil Uncovers Schoolhouse Silver And Gold

Good research can be so rewarding. Great example here. Nice finds and I'm sure there is more to come. The spoon is lovely.

    Just bought me a G2+

It's a great machine. I like my F19 but now prefer the stick handle of my G2+. A higher tone would make it stand out for old coins but I don't think that will ever happen. like IowaRelic mentioned, the stability of the ID at all depths is kind of unique. Also, no matter how bad the ground is it...

    Detector/coil question

I was also wondering about that coil for my G2+. Seems super light for that size. Hard to find. If I can get one I will directly compare it with my beat up Detech Ultimate. It's either the Super Fly, Cors Butterfly or the MGC 13".

Anfibio makes a few finds today

The trick for me is to go to the nastiest old places and put my detector down to find the areas with the most trash (more trash means more people moving about and dropping stuff). I settle for machine gun sounding areas. If I pick up a few square nails and/or a few old pennies from that area...

    A different kind of coin

Nice ! It looks thin in the pictures but at 38 grams, it has to be quite large and thick.

Anfibio makes a few finds today

One silver coin is all it takes to make it a great day. Kudos for posting the trash as well. It takes dedication and practice to fish the good old coins out of a sea of metal debris.

My 2021 detector lineup-play it safe

I'd like to get a review of the Superfly when you get some hours on it. It seems to be rare. I can't find it in Canada. Awesome looks and super light for that size. I have the Detech Ultimate now but it's badly beat up and I don't know how long it will survive. It's hard to decide between coils...

    Last time out in 2020

Winter has finally set in and in 24 hours, the temps dropped from freezing point to way below zero (-10 Celsius or 14F) with a sprinkling of snow. Fortunately I got a few hours of detecting yesterday and found some silver yet again. My first target was a 1940 silver quarter ! Not a bad start. My...

    IowaRelic and the Omega 8500

Thanks Jim. I know one could get used to clipping after a while but I could never quite do it. I hung in there as much as I could with the MX7 and found lots of goodies but in the end, I just had to part ways with it. After 2-3 hours of incessant noise and having to check lots of targets 2-3...

    IowaRelic and the Omega 8500

Are the clipped sounds exactly the same as when the detector came out ? In other words do you think that Fisher improved that aspect of it since it first came out. I've always wanted to try one because it seemed like a logical upgrade to my 8000 and F5 at the time but the reports of clipped...

    Today's hunt with F19

And the date is still super clear.

Two good (lucky) hunts in a row

I don't have any special tricks with the F19/G2+. I use those detectors as my dig all machines when I want to find jewelry AND coins (modern clad and old ones). Since I don't like hearing iron signals in moderate to trashy areas, I shut it off by setting volume at 10. I never use discrimination...

No Silver, but Some Cool Finds

Super cool looking padlock that seems in great condition. I don't think I've ever seen a cigar token before. Nice !

Two good (lucky) hunts in a row

What a stunning ring ! I'm surprised how low a nice chunk of gold can ID on a detector. What's the iron cutoff on an F70, 15 ?

    New Fisher Man

It probably is. I don't have one myself but have been tempted since I got into detecting many years ago. The F19/G2+ is a great dig it all detector but I feel it is hampered by its 2 tone VCO mode when silver/copper coin hunting in heavy trash. With the F75 you can use a concentric coil if you...

    Fors CoRe silver foursome

They just keep on coming ! I went out again today at the same place were I left yesterday. The temperature stayed below the freezing point so I didn't stay too long. The trash here is ridiculous. The two silver dimes shown here were each below a bottle cap. The signal was solid in only one...

    Fors CoRe silver foursome

Thanks for the comments guys. Went back there today. Not as much luck this time. As I got further into the woods, the targets became more and more scarce until there was nothing. I spent 3 hours to find nothing worth mentioning and switched to another area that I thought was detected out. Lots...

Went looking for gold and found big silver!

I would have loved to dig that heavy chunk of silver ! Congrats. Just out of curiosity, did you raise the discrimination on your detector to knock out small foil ? My typical old school finds resemble yours but with a lot more bits of foil or can slaw.
