No. The simplex is deeper and is enjoyable in a variety of park/yard and relic scenarios. It offers a lot of things the g2 does not. The g2 has even less adjustments than the simplex if you can imagine that. When the simplex gets a nice and small coil it will be neck and neck or possibly surpass the g2 in shallow ferrous / non ferrous separation I do own both, as you know. I keep the simplex in the truck for all types of sites. I keep the g2 only for high emi and dense iron, old sites. It’s my primary machine for old field sites.
Now, I’ve added a Patriot for the park/yard/curbstrip scene.
If you must have one, there was a time ranger pro in the classified all little while ago for 250. Good deal. The one I had was a good performer. The simplex has a lot to offers and I think you’d feel like you lost out by just having a g2. JMO. You know me, gotta have both!
