WOW :yikes:

I WISH YOU THE BEST ON THIS FANTASTIC FIND. IT'S A SHAME THEY WEREN'T CASHED IN AND THE COINS BURIED INSTEAD. HH-MARK

Awesome find!

Just my two cents. You probably should just send it to the government undisturbed and let them handle it. They have methods of identifying paper money that we average citizens don't have. check out the link below below.

I have friends who have done that with water damaged paper money successfully!

Good Luck

Wow is right, stop what you're doing in trying to preserve the bills and get in touch with the Bureau Of Engraving and Printing, they're are experts in piecing together bills like you have found, you may do more damage and decrease the value.

Usually you have to have at least 50% of the bill to get it exchanged or get reimbursed, you maybe able to be reimbursed for bill that has less than 50% left of the bill if they can determine that the rest of the bill was in fact destroyed while being buried/mutilated.

Here's a link to where you can submit a claim, and see a video of how they go about checking the bills.

I would let them know what type of bills you have found before sending them in, just in case they want to keep them and not reimburse you because they're no longer in circulation, you know how the government can be sometimes!!!

I added/edited a little more about checking with them first to see if they will reimburse you for bills that are no longer in circulation before sending them in!!

And be sure to let us know how it goes!!

Yes it would have been nice if it was Gold Coins instead. Will see what the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing will say when the get it, and can analyze it.

Because I live in Maryland I drove to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing U.S. Department of the Treasury, and delivered the 2 rolls of $$$$ to them. when entering the building I was told to wait in a waiting room and 2 Treasury employees came out to meet me. One took the money and the other filled out a form and had me sign a receipt. I was told it can take over a year to be reimbursed for the money. Nothing else to do now but wait. Thanks for all the remarks.:beers:

That is so special somebody had a stash and probably died or moved on before retrieving it,better tell someone in the family if you do that we never know if we are coming home.
I love finding things like that it doesn't have to be worth lots just the excitement will do me..

Great and interesting find.I can tell you right know the treasury is checking the numbers to see if they were from past bank robbery.I hope you are prepared to tell them where you found it.To bad the weather got to them you could have really made out at your local coin dealer and no one would have known nothing. Thanks for sharing,If they were in better shape I would have told no one.

Most bills are $100.00 Gold Certificates but some are different and I couldn't Identify them before I turned them in to the treasury. There are a few like this that are also Gold certificates but what denomination?
