AWESOME FIND BRYCE  I remember the first or second time we hunted together at my old park you found a merc with a old pocket knife rusted to the top but i think this one you found is worse...nice find. :please:

I have had similar experiences with my SE in iron infested ground........it's a boar hog of a detector when it comes to rooting out silver in iron....John

Now that's a fantastic find:clap:...........Hercules looks like one heck of a good dog and loyal companion!!! Hawkeye Jim.

Bryce not much left to be said but I'll add this...the pictures are proof that the explorer can do some amazing things. I have been there to see you uncover a few of those crusty, masked finds myself. I also see Herk is still a ham and likes to pose.
Kennon we'll have to try and meet up this year and hunt....and yes Herky still has the "nack" of posing down.:)

All I can say is a picture is worth a thousand words. That takes "finding good targets amongst iron" to a whole new level.:clapping: I would slap a copyright on that photo because I can see that on the cover of the Minelab Catalog. I find nails adjacent to good targets on a regular basis and it never fails to stop me in my tracks and crack a big fat grin  Heck, the other day I found a V-Nickel that had a nail laying on top of it and had layed there all those years despite the efforts of countless MDer's and I thought I was one with the detector :ninja: but MAN! I can absolutely guarantee you I would have walked by that one. Your skill at recovering "impossible" targets is absolutely inspiring. Thanks for sharing your day and for showing us what a Minelab is truly capable of if you put your time in.
Jeff...thanks my friend. I'm sure I have walked over my share of stuff in iron...but sometimes I get rewarded if I pay real close attention. I know there is some luck involved too...but sometimes it takes a combination of luck, skill, and patience. It sure does put a goofy grin on your face when you hit something that has been previously masked though doesn't it?:clapping:

Man you know how to come up with them and they are always good stories fun to read. Makes you feel like we are right there with you on the hunt and digs with those pictures.
I guess that is why time after time we keep coming back here to this place to see what your and others next adventures will bring for surprises. Keep up the good fun buddy!!
Tom
Thanks Tom. I truly appreciate it. There probably arent too many people who could get excited about a simple mercury dime like I did:biggrin:...but I won't ever forget it. It's memories that make this hobby what it is for me...and I will add this simple find to the list of special ones.Take care my friend ...and thanks for responding.

Thanks Phil. I remember that hunt WELL...and how we both just sat there with our pie-holes wide open and stared at it after we uncovered :surprised:it. We pounded the snot out of that place:beers:...but maybe there is still a goober or two left for us there.

I love finding the masked targets also. You wonder how many others passed a coil over that target and had no clue what lay underneath. A few years ago I dug a nice Seated quarter and Seated dime out of the same hole with a large iron nail. The coins were both stained orange from the iron. They came from a park that has been pounded for years. Makes you feel good that you got the ones that somebody else missed !!!
Thanks Ed. Congrats on your iron saves too.

No really, you rule man. Nice find.
Thanks G.R....I'll tell you what my friend...on this day Herky nearly had me beat until I got lucky and rescued the merc from the iron.

That kind of proves a point. There are those who use the Explorer and those that know how to use the Explorer. Bryce is one of those we speak of when we say it depend on whose using it when comparing detectors. Thats a darn good find... tuff tuff to find a coin in the same hole with that big piece of junk.
Dew
Thanks Dew....sincerely. I really appreciate it. Some luck definitely comes into play too though.

thats a cool story inspiring of the se,s capabilitys i,ve done well with my se got some nice silver last fall but what i like most is how it finds colonial copper in iron constant null in conductive sounds or low burbs in ferrous still sniffs out that nice high copper for me most excellent adventure:super:
Thanks Teleman. You're right...the SE is capable of sniffing out the goodies with a variety of settings.

Wow Bryce now that's really neat finding that dime under that old iron, you sure know how to use that detector. I beginning to wonder when you put on your headphones if they don't make a direct connection to your brain. Good Job.....
Thanks B-Rad. SHHHH....we won't tell anyone that the 3 of us got skunked the other night.

I can see why you are stoked Bryce. To hear a slight warble like that and then
find a Merc dime hidden under the iron has got to be totally satisfying for a SE
user like you. Post some info on the date, mint and ETC. when you find out .
Great find/score!! WTG and thnx for sharing. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:
Thanks G.N. It ended up being a 1923 Merc.

Nice going Bryce.:clapping: Silver is silver and iron is iron and you just proved that once again those Minelabs can certainly sniff out the silver even when there is iron in the same hole. HH.

Thanks Eddie. The SE amazes me often. Sometimes you get lucky too.

But that one sure has a rust stain on it... Mud looked worse then usual to for that place. Great find though. I guess we'll find out later if it was a 16 D or not... :D

Thanks G. Most of that place was underwater. Couldn't even hunt by the concession stand.

Totally wow.
I wish I could hear the sweet wobble you are talking about.
I might have to start listening more closely when the machine nulls out, and it does where I hunt.
Congratulations on the find.
Thanks for the pictures, it helps to drive home an important point too.
Been hunting for years, but now I'm a newbie again with my SE PRO.
Thanks Mark. Take your time with the SE and it will reward you well in the future.

You are the reason a lot of people including myself on this explorer forum bought a new se pro, you have proven that time and patience learning the SE pays off. photos like this shows what a SE pro is capable of in the hands of someone who has put in the time to learn what its telling you. Their is a Reason that Andy Sabisch wrote about you in the Minelab Explorer Hand book and why you are the moderator of this forum You know know what doing when it comes to the Explorer like no other person I know of. Congratulations, Finds like this is what sells detectors,
