Who is going to buy an Equinox anymore

So with the release of a 700 and 900 is
anyone going to buy a 600 and 800 anymore? Especially considering the leak and coil ears issues.
I would imagine they are going to have to discount them pretty low as the market will be flooded with ML detectors.
Actually a good thing as their prices are a bit too high anyways.
I don’t think anyone will argue a price drop.
Those that already have one can get a spare if they don’t upgrade

Think I''ll wait to see how and if leakage is corrected. Wouldn't mind buying a 700 if problems are solved. But time and feedback will tell. It took me 3 trys with my 600 to get a good one that didn't leak or have problems. Now it's a sweet machine.

How does replacing a shaft impact the control box leaking just curious how you put the two together.unless you damaged the box while doing it. So then most that have a leaky Nox somehow damaged their control box as well?

In this case the detector did not leak, but the brass inserts that the screws go into that hold the hand grip to the shaft came loose and the plastic around them was cracked.

NOPE. Absolutely, positively not.

On an Equinox, the "watertight seal" DOES NOT OCCUR at the handle-to-shaft interface. Take your handle apart and remove it from the shaft, and note that there is NO RUBBER GASKET OR O-RING between the two parts of the handle that fit together around the shaft. The watertight seal occurs farther up inside the handle -- at the door of the battery compartment (there are two rubber o-rings inside the battery door), AND, as I understand it, farther up inside also, where the handle and the control box meet/join. SO -- the handle-to-shaft interface is NOT a "watertight seal." Using an aftermarket carbon-fiber shaft DOES NOT, and CAN NOT, in any way, risk the "water-tightness" of your Equinox. Period. There is no "seal" that occurs at the handle/shaft attachment point, and so there's no way WHATSOEVER for your shaft -- WHATEVER shaft you are using, to be associated with leakage issues.

I totally agree with you Steve… there should not be any connection between the leaks and using aftermarket shafts.
My post was not to imply that.
It certainly would not have contributed in the leak that occurred around the charging port, as that is the only place that has been confirmed about where the leak occurred on this particular detector.
I do believe over tightening those screws could cause the problem with the handle breaking, but again, that is not due to using an after martlet shaft.

I agree with you, on the screws. Those plastic threaded inserts, that are installed into plastic so as to allow a screw to be "screwed in," can certainly be damaged if the screws are over-tightened. The same thing can happen when threaded inserts are installed into wood -- too much tension on the screws when tightening, can pull the insert free from the wood. But, in the case of plastic, the plastic (especially if it has become brittle over time) will tend to crack, as the inserts are placed under too much stress...

At least both of you admit some of them leak. Your honesty is appreciated for those looking for a waterproof detector thats going to get wet. Its pertinent information. Those that obviously know as most in the industry do and try to be deceptive about it weather for interest in personal gain or just because they are a brand fan is just plain wrong
I know it’s hard to admit fault in something you really like i get it often the right thing to do is harder

Have not been on the forums much... But seeing the 700 and 900 for within $200 in price and the 900 includes a 6 inch coil not sure if this is the same coil from the 600/800 guessing it is>?... Either way you could take the extra coil from the 900 and sell it for at least $100... and really cut the price down.... Or just keep it... the extra coil I think makes the 900 have an edge besides whatever extra features it has over the 700...

But I have done zero research and had seen the Manticore on a u tube video. I just went to the Minelab site... Do not like the fact they left the power button on the side... I do like that the models fold up smaller.... No foldable display yet? I think they missed out on several small changes that would have helped...

Also for anyone that has used any of the 3 newer models... guessing they are out or close? Have they spread the numbers out a little with better target id? I have found a ton of clad this year as well as other items but even listening closely the crossover with the cent and dime being on top of each other number wise is not good (in that 24/26 area)... I can tell the difference by now listening...but did they drop the ball on this too? Better vdi readings with more separation needed...

Also a little better quality parts would help... Cracked plastic stand around 100 uses in this year (was warranted)... Also wore out a coil cover which was not warranted...I drag a little... Things I am sure they have read on the forums...
