Who has said the heck with the $150 LiIon Battery?

Hello Everyone coming to you on vacation in St. Augustine, FL.... Happy to report that the new battery replacement is confirmed. I've detected with the new cells for about 10 hours now and they are holding up as expected. Had to post this photo of my first "help me find my wedding band" request this afternoon as I was leaving the beach for a break. Started a spiral pattern and after about 7 circles or so "bingo" - he was amazed.

Hello Amberjack,
Thanks for the reply to my post . One of my issues I have with using the CTX3030 I can't use my Polarised Sunglasses and look at the digital display without seeing a distorted image.I'm sure when they were testing the CTX3030 before agreeing on a final design they become aware of this issue ? You only have to look at any cheap mobile device none of them have this problem. I ended up having to purchase a new set of prescription glasses that were not Polarised so I can see the CTX3030 display with out the distortion .
I would like to know just how much the actual parts of the CTX3030 cost in total compared to what they sell the detector for ? I'm sure they used the cheapest option when they decided on the final build?

yep I have the same problem with my sunnys, so if on the beach dig everything that solved that problem for me, in the park for old stuff for the most part I night hunt so its not an issue, but I hear ya !!

I don't use the ctx for park gold hunting to big and heavy when I have the other detectors for that that find the gold anyway much better.

so really beach dig everything and use tones for an idea and night hunt the park for old stuff solved my screen problem, but yes it is a problem which my F19 does not suffer or even the gold racer, so they dropped the ball on the screen no 2 ways about it.

they need to send me a detector for testing I will tell them what needs fixing before its released, maybe get people too test who tell the truth and don't get star struck ?? or maybe they just don't listen? :punch:

but still the best deep id machine for old coins on the market that I hunt for so who knows what they think?? maybe brains and common sense don't get handed out together ?? I couldn't design the electronics but I can see how every day use could be made easier so who knows :lmfao:

Hello AmberJack,
Yes the screen issue is certainly a disappointment can't believe they let that one slip through ? The testers must have had guide dogs ? or they did what you do and tested it at night?
I'm sure someone out there knows the contact details of someone influential at Minicab in the design or service department if they could post these details , we could all let them know what a great job they have done?

By the way I went down the beach tonight for a quick search and soon as I turned the CTX on and placed the coil on the sand I picked up a strong 12:40 ID thinking it was a Goldie I pushed the scoop into the sand and picked up a nice White Samsung Phone.
So Iam wondering does anyone know what an Apple iPhone ID will come in at?

I may be wrong, but I believe the reason you cant see the screen with polarized glasses is because the screen itself is polarized. If that's the case, the optical orientation of the light waves makes it impossible to see at certain angles. I would further reason that it is done to make the screen more visible on sunny days for the folks that don't use polarized glasses. So it may be a case of whats best for the majority of users.

good job on the Ph, never found a working Ph on my list, well done  seen they have like scan a finger print now to get in wow :yikes:

so 2 lots of polarization don't cancel each other out :ranting: not to worry screen is there if i really need to look in the day lift sunnys spin machine do a little dance and dig, really though just use the tones in the day screen is there for back up.

aj, actually polarization works by letting only light vibrating in a certain plane thru the filter. If you orientate 2 quality polarized filters 90degrees to each other, zero light will pass. we use this property in microscopic mineral identification (thin slides of rocks).

eta: if you need independent confirmation, contact the mineralogist in your local college's geology dept.

Polarization is thousands of microscopic lines etched into the surface. If you have 2 sets of polarized items, you can turn them until they are parallel and viewing is just fine. Turn them 90 degrees and it will be completely black. Anything in between is blotchy and dark and overall difficult to see.

But yeah, in general you don't want to look a polarized screen through polarized glasses.

Edit - KinTN posted while was taking my time to type out my post

Very Interesting Jason - Seems I remember reading that was the basis of Polarization. I did find some non-polarized sunglasses and they work great with the CTX. On my third day of detecting at Crescent Beach and my conclusion is sanded in conditions. I started making some videos of my hunts - a first in Florida. Here is the first of those to come.

Will be heading south to Palm Coast either later today or tomorrow. Hoping the conditions are better - I understand the beach sand in that location has reseeded.

Good video, I hope the finds bet better for you while you're there!

Just re packed my second lot of batteries...

But getting harder to get these days.

Too many having issues with fires etc and thus the units with internal protection; are a different size.

Best thing I did was but a Battery pack for a Laptop and pull it apart.. There were the ones I was looking for - work like a charm.

But do have a dead pack (Salt water damage to teh pcb) = looking for a replacement PCB :)

OR

A cheep Z battery pack. I understand the 7000 has a bigger capacity.
