Whites newb going for the MX sport!

I called several times, was disconnected twice and eternal hold another time... Looks like confusion..
All I can say is I was in and talking with someone in about 40 seconds.

I was able to get through within a couple of rings. Unfortunately, Mary was busy the first time and I didn't leave a message (pay phone), and the second time (today), she was off work. The receptionist DID tell me to leave my name/address/phone # on an email for Mary and I'd get a shipping label emailed to me. Will see how that works out.. cautiously optimistic.
In the meantime, I still have the MXT Pro and the TDI to play around with, so all's not lost.

I am gonna bow out of this. I have sent mine back and was just trying to help out some. I have told all I know and don't want to add to any misinformation on the mx sport. If I do come across any solid info not shared I will chime in. Enjoy the weekend all and happy detecting!

You feel as I do Stix,

I too don't want to give misinformation, with the differences in firmware settings that work well with one Firmware may not work in the others.

I was trying to share tips to bypass smearing, slow recovery inwhich these settings did accomplish. However, this will only confuse MX Sport users in the long run with not knowing exactly what Firmware they have.

I did send my MXS in again for the latest firmware, Seen a couple of bugs on my second version so I sent it in the after speaking with White's. It arrived today, still in the box. I'll open the box tonight, can't wait!

Looking so forward to using it in the coming weeks ahead. To my knowledge, my unit will be the third version. Be interesting to see the improvements as I'm sure White's took care if them.

What's important here is we need patience, White's will take care of the issues. Those that have patience will be rewarded with a good detector, I seen first hand the potential the MX Sport has and that was with bugs and all. So yes I'm an MX Sport supporter and looking so forward to using my unit in the coming weeks ahead.

Funny thing, just so happy it's back and I don't even care if it's purple, pink, green or whatever just clad it's back home.

Thanks for your contribution,
Paul

I've had my eye on the MX Sport but decided to wait on it until the problems have been corrected and want to be sure the one I get is far enough into the production cycle that everything is up to date.

Paul I think we as customers have this backwards... White's should have a recall.. They should also send out new tested machines to everyone with an already purchased but poorly working machine.. With a return label in the box with a new machine.. I know of two detector manufacturers that do that and have done that..great customer service.. They earn my money not expect it like it seems whites has been doing lately.. They should be on the forums letting customers know what the problem is and the steps to take to get things resolved. I just don't see much from them on any forum.. Again my apologies to anyone I offend ..

I was contacted via PM about my machine from someone at Whites. He asked me a few questions about my Sport and had me check a couple things. Then told me I had the 2nd gen firmware with the low pinpoint audio and told me who to call, gave me the number with his extension. Said they would take care of it and apologized for the inconvience. That is a lot better than what I got from Fisher with the F75 DST fiasco (weak all metal and "momma" bug) where nobody knew what was going on and they denied there was a problem until a few (me included) got vocal on the forums about it. It was only then did they want to do anything about it.

That's good I'm glad they did contact you.. Fisher gave the option of repair or replace all the units with momma bug.. And they didn't know anything about it til I posted the video then they called me immediately and said they would replace my unit.. Another company also said no we will not repair your new detector, we will replace it.. Period.. White's says sure send it back as many times as it takes.. I know it will get taken care of.. But.... No one seems to know what is going on,lol

Hello basstrackerman,

I've voiced my opinion a few times with a recall, several times on various forums and once with White's during a conversation.

White's choose another way to deal with this, and I believe they are seriously trying make it good even though others may feel different.

I've been fortunate to have used three different versions, from what I can tell there are at least four. Daniels is the Firmware I haven't tried, Daniel is a skilled detectorist, I believe him when he says it works great and his has SAT maximum at 6. However, his has the same bugs my Firmware had with the unit having SAT at 8. Which is why a White's representative asked him to send his in and asked me to send in my unit for the proper firmware.

Apparently, Latest Firmware will have SAT with a maximum 8. ......And I'm glad it's 8 instead of 6, users who detect mineralized ground will benefit with the wider SAT window.

Yeah, Things could have been handled different with the MX Sport. Overall White's is dealing with the situation the best they can, they'll make it right.

Best regards,
Paul

Hello TD,

Won't be long you'll be hearing from MX Sport users with the latest firmware, I'll wait with posting until I truly get some serious time with it. From today's quick hunt, was impressed with few improvements White's had fixed from the previous firmware.

Take care,
Paul

I almost bought a mx sport do you know upset I would have been buying a new machine and it being a flop. I came back on the whites forum looking for my son in law who im gonna buy a new machine for. IMO everyone should be highly upset with whites I want to like the machine but taking up for them and saying they will take care of it well to me they should have taken care of it before they released it all those poor people who spent their hard earned money and bought a flop that may or may not work on the 3rd try or 4th time what a joke .whites lost a future customer Im gonna go back to the deus forum and garrett .I dont have alot of money and i have only 1 machine so I would not even been able to hunt for a month if i had got it I almost did went with the deus instead spent 20 bucks on a waterproof case good to go.

I'm still waiting for a reply to my first email regarding sending my detector in for the updated firmware. Sent another email to Mary on Friday and hopefully will get a response. So far, I'm not too impressed with their customer service. Good thing my MXT Pro and TDI didn't require any servicing.

Hey guys, just joined to help you out. I'm the media guy at White's - Tom.

Sorry you're having difficulty communicating with the factory. We have a long-standing reputation for great customer service and take things like this very seriously. Mary is doing what she can to back to everyone. If you aren't able to get a timely reply from her via email a phone call might be better. I know it's old fashioned but phone calls seem to get a quicker response here. Let me know if I can help in any way via PM.

Tom

Here is another contact at the White's factory that Mary put me in contact with, Connie Seward, cseward@whiteselectronics.com. In less than 24 hours after contacting her I received an email with UPS return shipping label. Took the detector to the UPS center, about 5 business days getting there from the Charleston. Received phone call, ( because I forgot to put my information in the box), and email confirmation of receipt on 4/29. Received email confirmation of return shipping on Monday 5/2/16. Detector will be back to me by 5/9/16. That is faster turn around than what I expected. Hope Connie's information can be of help.

I got hold of Mary. Unfortunately, there might have been a bit of a mixup with the UPS, but maybe not. I got the UPS shipping label emailed to me, but I'm a few hundred miles away from home, my mailing address, and I hope it's still valid here. Will go into town tomorrow and try to mail it from the UPS store there. Other than that, I'm happy with White's and hope to be happier still when I get the MX Sport back. Want to do some freshwater hunting and am leery of doing so with my MXT Pro, since my meds give me a bit of vertigo.

UPS store had a little problem for some reason with the shipping label sent to me. UPS center had no problem at all and all I had with me was the tracking number.

Sometimes I think (for me anyways) is to wait one year and let the bugs get fixed and let the dust settle before purchasing a new product. I had the early version of the V3i and I just had to have it LOL lesson learned :)

Have to agree about waiting until all the bugs are worked out before getting a new model. Holds true for many consumer items. How many times will users have to send this unit back for upgrades and still have a question in there mind about it being "Fixed" correctly? Some people will know, others won't. The bigger concern here is how will Whites image be impacted? Back when the announcement of its release was made statements were made about how was going to outclass other detectors that may or may not ever happen. Then came those cheesy and comedic videos which provided no informational values to buyers whatsoever. After the problems were found all of a sudden that person (Howard) hadn't been heard from since. I realize these remarks are probably going to upset many Whites people. It seems it is going to be much harder to repair the company image than repair the detector.
