Whites newb going for the MX sport!

Seems to be a common thing.. White's needs to wake up.. Losing customers.. Me as one of them.. I bought an mx sport and it had issues.. I sent it back and bought a different brand.. I'm done..
 
Alot of people are in the same situation as us.. But most posts are getting deleted. Sad as these posts are education for the people ... I've read on here many negative posts about the MX sport but those posts are all gone now..
 
I have not seen alot though I am new here. I just started visiting the whites forum. I am not trying to be down on the unit. I am just very disappointed by it. Even when waiting and the unit was sent back by the dealer only to receive back units with the old firmware. That part is between the dealer and whites. I waited and was expecting to receive a updated unit. I will not waste my time sending it back to whites as they are not answering emails. I am not even mad but.... I have no other words other than disappointed. I don't think they will delete a thread as long as it is not getting carried away with whites bashing and that is not what I am doing. Nor anyone here for that matter. Just discussing the problems at hand.
 
Closed the book on this detector. Talked to dealer and sending unit back. Case closed for me for now.
 
I have to agree with you, Monte thinks he knows it all. He is a know it all jerk. He thinks he is famous because he has his nail board test.

I've been on here a few years and think Monte is a good guy. I just like to throw some fun jabs at him. Only because some people take what he says the wrong way.

My experience with Whites email has been good. Only once did it take 24 hours for a reaponce. Sent my MX Sport in, forgot to put any paper work in the box. They emailed me that is was received and wanted to verify that it was sent back for the firmware update. You know sometimes old school works real well, like pick up the phone and call. I have never had the factory not answer the phone or return a call. Personally I'm giving the, a chance and the detector a chance. The performance I saw before sending it in was very good. Only reeason I sent it in was to make sure it had the latest firmware available.
 
So is this the second update or the third? I have the ones that was made after the 28 of last month as I read there was another update after that? shortribs
 
Well I got some more information just to set the record straight.

1. I said that the unit I received was a return from the first batch. I was waiting for them to come back to the dealer I have always used. In the mean time he got new ones with the serial number that should have been the newest firmware. Turns out there maybe 3 different firmware's. This is not confirmed yet.

A. We have the original firmware were is tone smears and recovery is lackluster. SAT had a max setting of 6.

B. We have 2nd firmware. Fixed problems but has a SAT setting of 8. Unsure of any other changes/bugs in this one.

C. We may have another revised firmware that fixes problems yet has a max SAT setting of 6 again. <------- This is what we are trying to figure out. I think if this is true it would cause many to be sending units back that really are ok.

This is why all of the confusion. If you're not use to a lightning fast detector like a Deus you might never know what some are talking about. The one I had still was not what I was expecting for separation. I am still a little confused about what is going on. I just wish we had a firm statement of whats going on or a easy way to check firmware revision number.

Just wanted to correct some errors. I believe if first 4 digits of the serial # were greater then 6080 then it has the latest firmware. I also believe those only have a max SAT setting of 6. When I hear something I will put that info out here.

So , mine was sent in and my sat setting goes 8 max. So it should have the latest firmware fix and update, right?
 
Yes it should. The only thing I am trying to figure out is if there is a 3rd firmware that limits the SAT to 6 but still retains all the recovery of the 2nd is all. If you have 8 you have been updated from the original. Or a serial number with the first 4 digits greater than 6080.
 
I read, somewhere, that a serial # over 6087 was good. Mine is 6082 and bloody horrible. Still waiting for White's to contact me.. maybe send them another email.
 
Email is a terrible way to communicate with a large company. Just call the factory and talk to a real person, probably Mary and get your questions answered right away. 541-367-6121
 
Just got off the phone with whites. There are a few different firmware versions. That serial 6080 is not an exact so if you at or near that number you may need an update. Best call them on the phone. I got right through just now. The needed firmware change is from the original. After that just suttle differences.

That is all.
 
I called several times, was disconnected twice and eternal hold another time... Looks like confusion..

Hmm that's odd. I would figure they are all on the same page. It was Jack or John I talked to. There has to be 3 though as the newest machines from what I am hearing do not goto 8 on SAT. I am not sure it really matters after the first firmware but would like to hear from others and what they have experienced.
