What do you NOT like about the MXT?

I've had that happen a few times, but normally I try to check my detector after not having any good signals after a while. I just don't think there's anything we can do about that. Hey, I've got an idea. Duct tape works for everything! Good luck, Nancy

I don't have the trouble of having the knobs turn, but..... One cure is to put small O rings on the shafts under the knobs. The extra friction keeps the knobs from accidentally moving. I've got them on an older Whites. Rob

I do not like the fact that it will not pinpoint in Prospecting Mode. I also do not like the fact that because of it's sensitivity, I cannot hunt within 20 feet of my friend's DFX without it going nuts.....jim

I would guess something is wrong with either the DFX or MXT. Nancy and I have hunted within 3 feet of each other every since the MXT came out, 7-8 years I'm guessing. Detectors will drift off frequency with time.

Thanks, Larry. The MXT is 6 months old but the DFX is a few years old. I would hate to change anything on the MXT because it turned out to be a gold magnet....jim

i have only used the mxt for two hours however the first thing i felt was it had no trouble finding pennies but if i had the idx for two hours i would have found much more clad in that space of time.,lots of trash and a great amount of pulltabs with the mxt.

Well Bowser maybe an IDX would be better for you. I've got a Mr. Bill IDX you could buy. The MXT is not for everyone, that's why Whites makes different detectors. :smoke: I know guys that have multiple IDX and IDX Pro detectors and that is all they use. Rob

geez rob don't get upset i was just rattling your chain ,i am getting an mxt soon and i got a prism 11 from snoop and carl if all i want to do is clad hunt.:surrender: The mxt goes a little deeper in MA. soil and finds much smaller objects , of course if you would like to send me your idx i sure as heck wouldn't refuse it . I may get another one for a backup someday.all the best jim

I wasn't upset Jim. There are guys on the main forum that use nothing but the modded Classics. I'm not getting rid of my MXT but will be getting a new Whites in the next few days. So I will be selling some of my stuff, too many detectors.. Have a good day. Rob

Can't think of anything I don't like about it.
Well, I guess i would be nice if it had a back light because
I would like to try night hunting and find out why so many
people like it so much.

I to would like a back ground lighting on the VDI display for cool evening hunts, I have solved that by a wearing a work light mounted on on a band on my forehead. WHAT I WOULD REALLY LIKE IS A CORDLESS HEAD SET like on the V machine.

I like tone ID and backlight. What is the choice when it comes to whites if I want these features? i DON'T WANT CHATTER EITHER.

I do not like the layout dell'mxt, I prefer the M6, is more balanced and less cumbersome, quickly move the electronics and the display on the handle of m6, missing only the backlight, so, for me, would be perfect.

Those looking for a hipmount MXT might check with Promack M/D in Apache Junction, AZ. When I bought mine I think he had 3 left. Factory installed.
