What do you NOT like about the MXT?

Just wondering what everyone doesn't like about the MXT in comparison to other metal detectors they have owned.

For example what did you like about ______ metal detector that you wish the MXT did or had? (depth/discrimination/etc...)

Thanks.

There is nothing I don't like about the MXT, I think it's a fantastic detector................... but I do wish whites would make a hip mount for the box.......... that would make it a little better when prospecting........:clapping:

Let's see? I've had my MXT for almost 8 years now and I can't think of one thing that I don't like about it. My hubby has the new V-3, DFX, and the high end Minelab and I wouldn't trade all three for my MXT. Does that tell you how much I like my MXT? :inlove: HH to all, Nancy

Nancy, you have had your mxt for 8 years, have you ever sent it to whites for check up? I have had mine for 5 years and it dose fine but just wondered, thinks Dean

I like it fine just the way it is. It is great for finding coins when using the Eclipse 5.3 coil. This is just a good solid work horse. Two metal detectors owned in the past that I enjoyed were the Whites XL Pro and X-Terra 70. Kelley (Texas) :)

Dean, yes I have. Just this past winter it went in for a check-up. :whites: Everything was fine, except for the loose earphone jack. What a machine! HH, Nancy

I don't know anything about hipmounts Bob, but I wonder if the one for the DFX, XLT would work? Same size box I would think. One is for sale on the classifieds, $30.

Nancy, can you comment about the depth differences between the MXT and the V3 or Minelab? Like when you two go out detecting, is he finding lots of stuff that you passed over?

Thanks.

We've have not done a side by side comparison of signals, so I can't say. I know that his DFX and my MXT were right on the money and I don't pass over anything that's worth digging! HH, Nancy

The one thing i dont like about my MXT is that i dont have two of them so i could take someone out with me. i cant compare because its my first and only machine. I THINK I MADE A GREAT CHOICE AND COULDNT BE HAPPIER thanks bryan

Nancy, Do you think my mxt needs a check-up after 5 years? It is still doing fine, but i didn,t know if it is best to have it check-up every so offen. I love my mxt and don,t want anything to go wrong. Thanks for the reply. I see you and Larry check out a lot of Whites detectors and coils, it is good to have someone to ask about them. thinks Dean

Dean, What's the old saying........"If it's not broke, don't fix it". But the way I look at it, it's a bit like insurance. I wanted to get a check-up for mine since it's age and it wasn't much to have White's do so. Now I know it's still at it's peek! I did mine during the winter months since I wasn't going to be using it then. Hope that answers your question. HH, Nancy

The "notch rejection" for a few seldom encountered pull tabs in the C&J mode is something close to useless. The quickly accessed Tone ID of the M6 is a really useful feature. Also, with these hot summer days arriving (here) I miss having a back-light to let me hunt into/during the night. Especially when I travel to some treeless desert ghost towns.

The MXT is, otherwise, a detector that can tackle all my detecting needs. Especially with the 5.3 Eclipse coil.

Monte said it all:thumbup:.....Back-lit screen and Tone ID would be top up-grades.. Having a hip-mount would also be usefull.
I think that the MXT is a great machine that is hard to improve on for what it does.

I agree with Monte on the "notch" feature and would like the M6 tone ID also, but I get along quite well without it.. However, as advancing age catches up with me I definitely don't like the weight. I find my Tesoros more forgiving to swing for long periods.

wish mxt had different tones choices back light and digital discrimination instead of dial up not a m6 otherwise it is a hot detector

Tone ID would be nice, as would a decent notch and (possibly a GB offset). By decent notch, I mean one that can be applied anywhere on the VDI scale. I'd really like one that could knock out 'big silver' since I've seen plenty of trash 'wrap around' to read as high conductor. I also do more hunting for lower conductivity stuff than higher and it would be nice to not have to listen to all that noise (and watch the screen). ..Willy.
