What are your thoughts on this ?

steve in so la

Well-known member
We all know the terrible things that are going on in the world - and they are increasing. My thoughts on them are that Christ said things will get worse toward the end times. So when bad things happen all over the world - or in my neighborhood - I think that's what it says is supposed to happen. And it comforts me somewhat.

Some people will say they come from man's rotten heart and if he accepts the Lord they will improve. Well, it seems like this would go against the Word in the Bible. Kinda like Peter cutting off the guard's ear to "save" Christ.

What are some thoughts on this out there ? Thanks, steve in so az

I believe we are drawing closer to the end of the age as we know it and the Book of Revelation will be fulfilled and maybe sooner than we think, for sinners are becoming worse and worse while the Christians shine brighter and brighter according to Daniel 12:10---

Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried, but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Also Daniel 11:45 and 12:1 thru 4.....And he (the antichrist) shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars forever and ever.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (KJV) (Only Jesus is worthy to open the book!)

Revelation 4:11-- Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created!

Rev 5:1 thru 5-- And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and read the book, neither to look thereon.

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the Tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof!

(The opening of the seven seals will bring destruction and death upon those left behind in the rapture of the saints; so therefore I pray, O sinner, won't you be saved? For today is the day of salvation! Just confess your sins to God with a sincere heart and by His grace you will be saved and live in His eternal glory! Praise God and Glory Hallelujah, for Jesus died for all sinners and gives salvation as a free gift to you! He paid sin's penalty in full and there is no condemnation when truly believing in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord!)

Well Steve I'm a long-winded writer as usual! :)

God Bless!

I believe we are getting closer to end times by what we see everyday in this world!

It's hard to make your thoughts perfectly clear when writing and not using the spoken word. When Jonah went to preach salvation to the Ninivites, you couldn't have found a more wicked nation. They repented and they were added to the lambs book. It was only a temporary happy ending though. Eventually they resorted back to their old ways and were destroyed. God always has the door open for repentance. Do I see the march to the end times? Yes, I do. Is the whole world waxing werse and werse. Yes, I do. Do I know God's time schedule that there might be a chance for a great upheavel of repentance in between? No, I don't. The only part of the mind of God I can see is in God's word. I have posted here that I see the church in general backing away from the gospel. I'm not trying to offend, I'm just trying to express what I have found in God's word. If I have offended, you can let me know Biblically where I erred.
May God bless you and yours,
Paul(NWO)

Steve, I believe that your right and all signs do point to the last days. It says in those days that man will call GOOD evil and EVIL good. It also says that apart from God, our thoughts are continually wicked and evil. This world needs to repent but I see no sign of that happening. Rejoice my friend, for the Kingdom Of Heaven is at hand.

Good evening , Steve, Randy, Paul Mike and Betty, Yes much support and strong aggrement from me. Yes the In my mind, the church is lossing the spiritual battle, we are either POW or AWOL. This verse in Rev.3;15 and 16 has convicted me lately. The Lord says" I know thy works. that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. I believe He is saying, we, the churches are watered down to the point of, unuseable, hot water is usuable, cold water is usuable, but luke warm is very limited is its use, to cold to cook with, too hot to be for a refreshing drink. Yes, I think God is telling them, they have lost thier zeal, there usefulness.By the way verse 16 does not teach that a believers salvation can be lost. Ehp. 5;16 reminds us that our remaining time to serve and glorify and be used of Him , is short. Consider this, since the time it took to read this thread, how many have died and gone to a Christless eternity, Yes the fields are, ripe and ready for the harvest, what a priviliage to be His faithful ambasadors.

Good morning, Randy, I agree with Steve and rentasquid, short answer, no, He does not. Can I offer a very short explanation? Yes, God is soverign, but ask yourself this, will devine sovergnity permit God to do what devine charactor would not allow, if we can trust the charactor of our God of GREAT LOVE and GRACE, we can trust the wisdom of His soverign decisions, buy the way, if God loves us as much as He has demonstrated, and tells us, wouldn"t we be fools to not hear and apply his Holy word, james 1;22. Please read titus 2;11 sorry have to drive the school bus, I will continue later, if you wish. God bless

OK GUYS LISTEN TO THIS VERSES,VERY TOUCHY VERSES THAT DIFFERENT DENOMINATONS ARGUE OVER SALVATION:"ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"---BELIEVES BY MOST BAPTIST;WHILE PENTECOSTALS BELIEVE---"YOU CAN LOSE YOUR SALVATION", YOU CAN LOSE YOUR SALVATION ,BUT CAN BE SAVED AGAIN,THERE ARE VERSES THAT PERTAIN TO THIS.AS WE KNOW,THAT ONCE YOU ARE SAVED,YOUR NAME IS WRITTEN IN THE "LAMBS BOOK OF LIFE" or in the OLD TESTEMENT KNOWN AS "THE BOOK OF LIFE".

IF YOU READ THE BOOK OF REVELATION CHAPTER THREE ABOUT THE CHURCH IN SARDIS,AND IT SAYS :CHAPTER 3 VERSE:4-5 YET YOU HAVE A FEW PEOPLE IN SARDIS WHO HAVE NOT SOILED THEIR CLOTHES.THEY WILL WALK WITH ME,DRESSED IN WHITE FOR THEY ARE WORTHY.HE WHO OVERCOMES WILL,LIKE THEM,BE DRESSED IN WHITE.I WILL NEVER BLOT OUT HIS NAME FROM THE BOOK OF LIFE,BUT WILL ACKNOWLEDGE HIS NAME BEFORE MY FATHER AND HIS ANGELS.
ACCORDING TO THIS ONCE YOUR NAME HAS BEEN WRITTEN DOWN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE,AS BEING SAVED ---IT CAN BE BLOTTED OUT!!??? THAT MEANS YOU CAN BE LOST AGAIN???SO ,DOES THIS MEAN THAT OTHERS WERE BLOTTED OUT ALREADY IN TME PAST???WHAT DO YOU THINK???

HERE'S OTHER VERSES ABOUT A PERMANANT SALVATION:MATTHEW CHAPTER 7 VERSES 21-23 : NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME,LORD,LORD,WILL ENTER THE KINGDOW OF GOD HEAVEN,BUT ONLY HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHERWHO IS IN HEAVEN.MANY WILL SAY TO ME ON THAT DAY,LORD,LORD,DID NOT WE PROPHESY IN YOUR NAME,AND IN YOUR NAME DRIVE DEMONS AND PERFORM MIRACLES?THEN I WILL TELL THEM PLAINLY,"I NEVER KNEW YOU.AWAY FROM ME,YOU EVILDOERS!"

NOW LISTEN TO THIS GUYS,THIS PEOPLE WERE SAVED,THEY WERE PREACHING,DRIVING OUT DEMONS,DOING MIRACLES FOR THE LORD ACCORDING TO WHAT THEY WERE SAYING.YOU CANNOT DO THIS MIRACLES WITHOUT THE ANOINTING?SO,IF THIS PEOPLE WERE SAVED AND THIS POINT THEY ARE GOING TO HELL---THE LORD HAS TOLD THEM TO DEPART FROM HIM ,THEY WERE DOOMED.
SO,WHAT ARE YOUR BELIEVES ON THIS????:stars::shrug:

The Lord said, "Many are called but few are chosen." Also, Paul said that he tested his faith daily, which points to the possibility of one back sliding.

Yea, just got your message, first of all, thank you for this opportunity. Yes , that question, has been debated by great and well meaning bible scollars, and bible students like us. I will atempt to provide you with verses form scripture that will argue for eternal security. This study will be ongoing , and I hope you will find the answers to your questions. Lets start here, with a question for you, if a believer can fall away, or loose his or her salvation, how does he or she get it back? While you search for that answer in the scripture, here is a verse to look at insupport of eternal security. First John 5;11 to 13 , the word record means evedience, it is a legal or judicial term, also the report given for wittness. Verse 13 these things I [God] have written [refering to the record in verse 11] that ye may know [ the word know is a verb in the perfect tence] meaning present and continuing , the subject that know describes, will continue, not to change. Also the word eternal ,means eternal, never ending. Hope this helps , or if it raises a question, we'll answer it. pslm 126;3

going back into willfully sinning again, and then God will not know you, for our sins must be washed away to become white as snow when we confess our sins. If we confess our sins He is quick to forgive them, so we need to ask forgiveness from Him if and when we know we have sinned! The Word of God tells us what our sins are...anything that is unbelief or goes against His will.

Are there some predestined to be in heaven? I believe that every sinner is predestined to be with God, for He says it is not His will that any perish but that all should come to repentance. Therefore, it takes repentance of our sins to be saved. If we sin willfully and do not love nor obey the Lord than we are unsaved. Jesus died on the cross and set us free from being prisoners of satan, but we have to accept and believe in Jesus to have salvation! Those who truly believe and are ready, watching and waiting for His catching up His saints will be serving Him, faithfully!!

Anyone who turns away from following Jesus after saying they accept Him as their Savior and turn back to serving satan by continuing in their sins will need to ask for forgiveness again and do their first works over. And remember many say they are saved and doing those works in His name but aren't really saved and are wolves in sheep's clothing!

Now this is my belief and my faith and if others disagree that is their privilege. I will only disagree if anyone says Jesus is not God's Son nor born of a virgin by miraculous birth and that He didn't die or arose from the grave. These are why God came Himself, manifested in the flesh of man, to die for all and set us free from our sins! Tis a gift and we must reach out and accept that gift when we have the knowledge by hearing and by faith believing the true Word of God!

God Bless!

I dont know if I will cover any or all of your questions, but here goes...
First, I personally don't rely on Revelations as my guide in deep spiritual matters. Like I said, its my personal thought. Although it is inspired by God and the Holy Spirit, and there are many excellent points to be made about Jesus and His divinity, its purpose is rather unclear. I think the gospels and the Pauline letters give better guides to holy living.
Second, It is a known fact that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And when we are saved, our debts are erased. But unfortunately, we as humans are sinful creations that need to be forgiven. Sin separates us from God. And we need to be constantly on our knees asking God to forgive us from sins and to restore us. Does that mean that we need to be resaved? I dont know if I would call it that, but we need to be restored.
I have a mens study bible that has a helpful note about sin and how we are to think about it.... "So, then, are Jesus' followers free from sinful appetites? No (although they wish they could be!), but those appetites no longer have unbridled power over them. Think of sin and its effects as a motorcycle with a disconnected chain. The engine (sin) still has great power, but it can't turn the wheels (action). Similarly, for followers of Jesus, the chain that drives their sinful activity has been disconnected. Their sinful motor is still there, and at times they may re-engage the chain. But the more they realize they're liberated from sin's power the more they find themselves living free of its appetites." All we need to do is ask for the grace you need to stand in the freedom Jesus has given you.

Do we all believe everything the same. Absolutely not! But, I think it is important to follow a couple of things that Paul wrote of in 1 Cor. 1:4 - "I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus"....We need to be thankful for our fellow believers!!!
The secon and last thing I want to point out, is Pauls word, just a few verses down in 1 Cor. 1:10 - "I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought."....What this means to me is that we might interpret a Bible verse differently, but it doesnt divide us in our common belief that Jesus is the Savior of mankind. He died for our sins, so that we can be restored to His Father. In that, we should have perfect unity!

God Bless you SemperFi61!

J.
