Technology is moving really fast right now. Maybe the depth is similar but amongst iron and trash today's detectors really do an incredible job. The scary thing is that the technology is moving faster and faster. What took years to reach just 10 years ago, might be passed by in months. I really expect some incredible advances with detectors the next 2 years or so and some of it will probably be in areas we never thought of.

And it is hard to see our old trusted one beaten. But, you can just say "No detector comparisons" and the thread will be deleted! A bit ironic...

The next wave of technology will be not eliminating the aluminum pulltab, but positively identifying it, so it can be left in the ground. I imagine in the next 5 yrs it will be possible.

Its very funny that these dectectors have only been out for a very short time, and we already have so many people who are considering themselves experts with these machines. Some folks havent even been out of thier house with the detectors, and they are writing reviews.. haha

Hate to add more fuel to the fire here, but there's one glaring discrepancy in the AT Pro vs GTI 2500.. one coil is a larger concentric and the other is a larger DD,It's apples and oranges folks. I'd like to see that test done with a DD on the GTI 2500. ..Willy.

Good point Willy...maybe I'll try it with the 5x10 DD or when I get the new DD for the 2500. I guess the DD would have better target separation.

Test is basically for entertainment, fun and some learning is all....CAUSE ITS WINTER!!!!!!

I don't doubt it and what I was alluding to above was something of the like. Maybe they have been going about it all wrong regarding discrimination. Maybe there is a missing parameter? Ok, wishful thinking.

But with disparate fields converging I wonder if an aid of sorts will come from another "area." You know, it's a bit like psychologists sharing data with immunologists and on and on. Something good will come from it all.

Thanks John for the positive remarks...soem people just dont have those in them. All they see is negatives despite people here doing test for others to enjoy and learn...some are too mentally selfish to see past themselves. Crackbadger doing to much crack...

Just wanted to check what part of that comment, and I am kinda taking it for granted it isn't the crack part, is aimed at me, just so I can attempt to explain why my posts are not personal attacks even though they may seem to feel like they are.

You would fair better comparing a frog to an elephant. These 2 detectors were designed with different frequencies for a reason. I think your test is fuzzy settings, If you cranked the 2500 up to its max potential, Im sure it will hit a high conductivity coin further out than the atpro. I dont know what your motivation for rigging a fuzzy test are , but it sure is fuzzy. Maybe you could go to the vids on you tube by Mr.Brent Weaver, he can explain it to ya. Do you know what a relic machine is, thats what the at pro is. It is designed to pick up mid to low conductive targets, and the fact that the machine can be ground balanced, changes everything. I know more about metal detection than you could ever imagine. Your problem is,, that you THINK you know it all ,and thats why you dont. Plz dont engage in childish personal attacks , stating that someone is a crackhead is slander and can be a prosecutable offense. If you cant engage in intelligent brainstorming, maybe you should just not post your inacurate tests anymore. all of the little gold nuggets and coins and stuff you are making a point to show everyone doesnt impress anybody, you surely bought them, because u surely didnt find them,, not with all of that kitchen floor detecting your so good at.

I am not sure why you have this anal obsessive/compulsive need to constantly criticize Alan's work or finds. .He is one of the most helpful guys on the Garrett forum, and has been for a long time. His honesty and credibility is second to none. Maybe you should chill out a little for a while, or go find another forum that interests you. you became a member 4 weeks ago. this is a great forum and its close to the holidays... merry christmas. i really like reading bearkats posts.. he wasnt doing a lab test of exacts, he was having fun and giving us other members something to read and watch... it is winter and alot of us cant get out....well john does he digs through 4 feet of snow and finds rings all year..lol well anyway merry christmas and happy new year!!

Bearkat4160 has been very helpful over the years with his postings.
This has helped me very much in the hobby.
I think that this wet behind the ears newbie should move on if he can't look beyond the negative side.
Alan I wouldn't take him to seriously you have the support of many on this forum with your good post.
Its not the way to make friends .He may have to learn the hard way or the highway !

well if you all think its ok do metal detection tests on a cement floor full of rebar, then your never going to learn anything. He neded to be corrected, so people new to the hobby dont watch this stuff and think it is ok, because its not accurate information, and the rest of you are encouraging him to keep doing it,, how can that be productive? Instead, he starts calling me names and gets defensive,. Does anyone here think his tests are really accurate?
