Hi again kolks...part 3 of my AT PRO testing....This time target speed recovery test 2500 vs AT Pro using a nickle, quarter, gold ring and a large lead bullet on my floor which contain many iron nails.. AT PRO seems to have better results once again.

Settings: AT PRO, Pro Mode zero, grnd bal 50 manual, 7/8 sensitivity.
GTI 2500: Zero mode Discriminate. sensitivity 9.

Heres the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF5b_78mylI

Enjoy!
Alan

Nice video(s) you have made. Thanks for sharing and taking the time with them.

Can you play with moving the targets closer together to see how close they can get and still recover with separate signals, including ferrous?
I imagine the AT Pro will get them very close together.

That was a good test Alan. I did enjoy it. I am just getting to the point where I can start doing similar things.

Thanks for posting it.

Jerry

Bearkat I hate to say this but neither machine is doing any recovery anyone should be interested in.

If you want to test recovery speed use both ferrous and non ferrous targets together the whole object is to see how quickly a machine will recover from an iron signal next to a non ferrous, I can tell you now having done this test when I first got my AT that it is very impressive and certainly equivalent to the best european machines designed to run in amongst iron 24/7 I posted that video here on findmall on another thread but here it is again just to illustrate how not to miss a good target completey masked by iron lengthwise to the sweep.

Hi there Macedonian,

I dont think you were paying attention to my video there captain. The 4 items in the test were surrounded by iron nails in the floor, which are not visible. There is your ferrous for ya.

Maybe watch again and reassess? Seems some people are interested in it...

My apoligies Bearkat I only viewed the first part of the video where you mentioned recovery speed and then started sweeping across the iron hits in your floor which clearly using just iron would not have been a recovery test.

Having seen all the video now though this is not an acid test for the AT, a), the iron is at a lower level then the good targets, b), the odds are they are vertical so presenting minimal mass compared to your good targets and c), the viewer cannot see how close the targets are to the iron, so you are not beginning to push the AT yet

Sorry Bud I know it may look as if I am splitting hairs here but having seen so many video tests over the years you start to wonder if someone needs to write some basic test criteria so all the hard work actually means something that can be directly compared to any other video test data.

Don't pay me no heed though

heres my asessment, unless your house was built in the 1800s, theres iron r bar in your concrete, and thats messing up the whole test.

haha and another person that doesnt pay attention to the video...

Oh well I have fun doing it.

Those were some great tests Alan. I guess with the GTI 2500 being what...15 years old, it probably wouldn't.t fair as well. Looks like the AT Pro kicks butt, compared to the GTI 2500. Now.....wouldn't it be sweet if the AT Pro could image or profile say down to 10 inches? And being water proof, and light, and great audio features and...oh well, a fella can dream.

Thanks for doing the tests and uploading them on YouTube. Tis the time of year for watching, researching and learning. :)

Thanks John for the positive remarks...soem people just dont have those in them. All they see is negatives despite people here doing test for others to enjoy and learn...some are too mentally selfish to see past themselves. Crackbadger doing to much crack... :puke:

Got one more test to do...The Scorpion vs AT Pro.
Coming soon to the Garrett forum near you!

From what I have heard from Vaughan Garrett...they are working on new Imaging technology....his words were, ..."you just wait and see". concerning their Imaging technology. Cant wait!

Now that one I am looking forward too. It hardly gets mentioned, yet once set up properly, it is great for jewellery, especially gold. And it backs up as a great coin shooter. The price is awesome too. I guess a lot of people figure if it doesn't cost a grand, then it can't be a good machine.

Alan,

What camera do you use to make a YouTube video and how long does it take to upload it? I took a video of an Indian cave some locals showed me in Indiana but a 50meg video file I cannot send to anybody to watch and its only a few minutes long. I used a Samsung flash memory camcorder with MP4 video.
I like your AT Pro video on the nuggets , no need to use an rusty iron target beside a nugget. Maybe a hot rock alongside it might be something to try?

Yeah I think they are working on a new high end machine. Have heard rumors to that affect. Don't think the AT PRO is the end of the rainbow at Garrett.

Hi Tom,

Well I'm using for these short videos a Canon SD1300is Point and shoot camera that does real nice videos. Its a 12 mega pixal camera. I also have used a Canon A560. Both camera less than $200. The 1300 I just got at Bestbuy on sale for $109 normally $180. I feel I dont need a regular video camera for youtube stuff even though I have one. I like the compact feature of these powerful little things.

It takes about an hour to upload on average depending on how long the video is. I upload it directly from the movie making software which has linked to youtube. Your Samsung will work fine.

its like watching a 3 year old continually put his shoes on the wrong feet, I just cant watch without trying to help . Theres no substitute for experience, you cant fake it, if you know your stuff you know your stuff, if you dont ,, its very obvious to those that do. .. We are trying to help you here fella..

I've been detecting since I was in high school and now 44 and also a metal detector dealer....dont need your arrogance or condescension.

Bearkat, Please don't mind my sarcasm. I just love my 2500 and as stuborn as I am I hate to see something put up against it. I guess part of me wants the AT pro and then the other part says no way.

Yeh Kevin I'm in the same boat as you...hard to see the King get beat like that.

I've had my GTI 2500 since 1999 and have found everything from CW Relics to the Beach stuff and Gold Nuggets with it. But the tech is a bit older than the new hot AT Pro.
