Cruising Craig's List this morning for used Tesoro's and one finally showed up. Vaquaro purchased April 2013. Used 6 or 7 times. Guy is asking $340...... good price I think. Orlando area. Still has the warranty card.

Yeah that seems like a bargain I would try to negotiate to $300 or $320 but that's just me lol but the price overall is great IMO, How is your Silver treating you? or did you get it yet?

Yep.. Silver is here. I have been air testing it and found the disc is great bench wise. Humidity just starting to break here... should be out and swinging in a week or so. Very happy with the quality and weight.... last detector weighed about 5 lbs.... Compadre is next.....

Speaking about a used Tesoro, would love to get my hands on a Diablo umax, anyone with a unit for sale, let me know. Also wondering why Tesoro does not re- introduce the Diablo umax, maybe a limited edition, throw a couple of more options on it , I certainly would buy one. It would to good addition to my LST, Tejon, Cibola and my Super Saber II...

Tab Magnet,, When you get that COMPADRE , you will have a blast with it. It is so easy to use. Light weight. Darn good on very small gold items. I took the batteries out of my other Tesoros because I don't use them to muce... KEN

I would like to remind any existing and future customers that if you buy a used machine, even if it has the warranty card, you are not the original owner and the warranty is NOT transferable.

Yep, the lifetime warranty only applies to the original purchaser. That's a fantastic deal for the original owner.

I don't know of any other company that warrants its products for life.

If the machines are in good shape and the price is right.... buy it anyway.

Even if you need service one day.... I'm sure the rates are reasonable and one would recieve the same quality service as an original owner. That is unless Tesoro has a policy that declines paid service on any Tesoro other than original owners machines. I doubt that is the case.

However, I look through the advertisements quite a bit.... rarely ever see a used Tesoro for sale. I think that says something good about the quality and dependability of this company.

As I am the original poster of this thread... that was my point..."Look... a used Tesoro."

I agree. That

What, you don't have the New Golden Sabre uMax with auto retrieve mod?

Duh, too many words going around it my tiny head. First I thought I must I have Sabre on the brain since I'm working on that mod on the silver sabre uMax. But then I noticed that I did the same thing in my signature. Have to correct that - thanks for catching it.

I purchased a used excellent condition Tesoro coil on ebay, still had the sticker on it. Unboxed it yesterday and attempted to install it on my LST, and the mounting ear broke off. I believe one of 2 things happened, either my older style Tesoro pole is slightly larger in diameter, or maybe a manufacturing defect? I contacted Tesoro and was honest about purchasing the coil on ebay, and was advised the poles have always been the same diameter, and it was hinted that I installed it incorrectly, which is not the case. It was also advised that I may just want to toss the coil. I advised Tesoro I will be sending it out in the mail today.

Would be interested to know what happens. Did they indicate they would repair it?

It was not clear to me how this will be handled, I will post back.

I don't know what Tesoro will do, but I know what I would do and what every other detector manufacturer would do. Tell you that it's not covered by the warranty, since you're not the original purchaser and that the shipping cost and the cost of the repair might exceed what you paid for it used off of fee bay. So you might be better off just tossing it.

I wouldn't be surprised that the seller that you bought it from broke the ear off by falling on it, glued it back on and sucked it on fee bay.

What do you expect Tesoro to do?

I knew it would not take long for a response like this.

I do not know why the coil broke?, but I do know it should not have happened. Please re-read my original post, If I believed there was any other possibilities on the breakage I would have said so, and no I do not believe the seller damaged it.

I also said I do not know how this will be handled, and I do not know how it should be handled either?

Prior to my Golden Purchase, I had contacted Tesoro and specifically asked them about purchasing a used Golden on ebay, and specifically asked how I would stand with the warranty, and Tesoro's response was " we are going to take care of you"

With that info, I had no hesitation purchasing an excellent condition used coil on ebay.

Scanman, what do you think " we are going to take care of you" means? I've never been told by Tesoro that the warranty applies to anyone. Who told you that?

From everything that I've read the warranty says it only applies to the original purchaser.

What do you expect Tesoro do about your broken coil that you bought off of fee bay? I mean the warranty is crystal clear and not ambiguous at all.

I know that Tesoro goes out of the way to make its customers happy and will probably take care of your coil even though you're technically not a Tesoro customer.

In my business I just made sure that I was better than my competition. Anything above that is a waste of money and not appreciated by some.

I'm not saying you, but the abusers of the warranty will cause it to be reeled in some. I would have done it a long time ago.

Tabman I do not know how I can be more clear than I have already.

I did not post my situation for Tabman, or anyone else to tell me how you/they would take care of the issue if you/they was king of Tesoro, but hey thanks anyway. I posted the facts as they are.

I was fully aware of the Warranty Statement On Tesoro's web page, before I specifically asked about how I would stand on a Golden Ebay purchase.

Your meaning or definition, of "we are going to take care you of you" may be different than mine, and maybe Tesoro's. Please see line 2.

I do very much agree that anybody that picks up a beat up Tesoro Product sends it in, gets a new one and sells it on ebay is clearly taking advantage of Tesoro's Warranty.
