Uncle Willy Passed Away Today

We are only here a short time, it is how we CHOOSE to live our lives that count. Uncle Willy made wise choices and loved life and loved others. Those of us that knew of him are better BECAUSE of him.

Uncle Willy answered many of my questions about the 250 and Mding in general and was always fun to chat with on the forum. He will be missed.

You will be missed Uncle Willy. I hope for you that the hunting is even better on the other side.

Uncle Willy have helped so many of us, to learn and enjoy our hobby.
If there anything we can to help his family please send out a line
I'm proud to call him my friend, and i will miss him

Bob

My Condolences to his family. He was always there for anyone seeking a positive direction. I will miss him as will many.

What a great guy. He sure will be missed. I really enjoyed his character...

Just heard the news. I've never really posted here at Garrett, but I've known Bill for nearly eight years, many on another forum at findmall, and for another two years off-line since, after I quit posting there.

Bill was one of the most honest, caring, intelligent and helpful people I've ever encountered. He always took the time to answer every PM from me, and his views on everything he discussed were well worth reading and remembering. He was also a most generous man, giving more than he received. We traded a couple packages back and forth in the mail over the years, and I always felt guilty at seeming to come out best in those trades. But I know Bill would have had it no other way.

Bill was also one of the few people I've ever known who was absolutely correct in his political thinking - all the time - in every aspect. He took a lot of heat for his ever-cynical view of our current government and our accelerating progression toward socialism in the past 100 years, offered on that other forum. But no one there could ever argue well against his views because he thoroughly understood the subject, having lived through most of that time with his eyes wide open as he watched the country devolve to what it is today from the comparative state of true liberty the country enjoyed then. He saw the whole picture as an American cyclorama and wasn't deluded into thinking any of the change could bode well for America's future. I've saved a few dozen of Bill's better posts and replies for the opportunity to read them again now and then. His clarity of perspective was phenomenal and, to an ultra-conservative Constitutionalist tea-party type like myself, very inspiring.

I realized today that it had been quite a while since I heard from him and decided to get on findmall to learn what was going on with him. It hasn't really sunk in yet, and right now I find it hard to believe my good friend is really gone. A man of his stature comes around rarely in anyone's lifetime, and he will truly be missed in the remainder of mine. If there is anything we can do for his wife, who is invalid, or for his family in general, please be so kind as to PM me at 'cakashu(at)gmail.com.'

Rest blissfully in Jesus, Uncle Bill. God speed, my friend, until we meet again...

Cashu

I've been away from the board and detecting as you might have noticed. I have been thinking about Bill, and I am deeply sorry to hear that he left us. He did a lot for me personally as a newbie way back when and I will always be grateful for the encouragement he gave me in treasure hunting, writing, and in life. I'm know he's swinging away someplace and I'm glad that the pain he has endured lately is gone. Rest in peace, Bill.

Chris

Allthough I have not been using a Garrett that long I have been following Uncle Willy's posts for a long time. Many of the tips he gave transend all metal detector brands, not just Garrett's. He was a valuable resource that will be truely missed. It is hard to put into words how I feel but the last few days have been a little sadder knowing he is gone. Uncle Willy will be missed by those that knew him and those that never got the chance to know him. I wish his family well...............Jeff aka Jazzman58...........
