Uncle Willy Passed Away Today

I am so sorry to hear the news.

RIP UNCLE WILLY.

Sorry to hear this news....will miss you Bill!

Praying for his family:cry:

Thanks for letting us know John. I half expected it given what he's been through, but was still quite shocked when I actually read your post.He was a great inspiration to all of us and will be greatly missed. He ran this forum, the best of ever seen of any detecting forum, with a very friendly air to it. I know that you will do a great job.
My condolences to his wife and family. As he was a full time carer for his wife, it will hit her particularly hard as she has not only lost the life long love of her life, but the very practical help that Bill was to her as well.
Michael Evans.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Willy.
like many of us on the forums, we get to know a little bit about each other even though we never meet and the forum becomes a bit like an extended family.

Heart felt condolences from Down Under. RIP Uncle Willy. Keep on :detecting: wherever you are.

:ausflag:

Words escape me. Bills irascible manner and his genuine desire to help others will be missed.
He was a stalwart advocate of this hobby that he loved. He loved the technological changes that came, in some 50 years of it's pursuit - and hated the social changes that are even now changing the hobby itself.
He was also from a time when men faced life as it came, and life was both hard and well earned. You got what you got in his world, and you made the best of it without griping.
He was one of the Old Guard, to be frank. When they go, who but we will carry the mantle?

May you rest in the peaceful bosom of the Lord, Bill Revis.

Sorry to hear that. What a great person he was. Always on here to help those in the hobby. Rest in peace old friend.

Rest in Peace Uncle Willy... You've certainly set the bar high for those of us to follow in your footsteps and you've made the world a better place in doing so. Condolences to all his friends and family...

:(

Bill G. Revis was one hell of a man! He has been sorely missed since his illnesses took hold of him over the past several months. He will be missed by all who knew him or knew of him. He had a wonderful since of humor and the man told it like it is! Uncle Willy was a great teacher, a great writer and an awesome detectorist!
Uncle Willy was the GRAND MASTER HUNTER!
He wrote literally hundreds of articles for numerous different treasure hunting magazines over the years.
Here is only just a tiny bit of the vast knowlegde that he sharred with us over the years. He also wrote under the names Jack Slade and Johnny Ringo.

It's very sad that Uncle Willy died, but I try to find solace in knowing that he is no longer suffering. He is in a much better place now. He's lookin' down on us tellin' us not to pass up those good targets.:)

Bill's passing is a big loss to anyone who uses these forums. It is also a loss to our hobby as a whole. However his legacy will live on in those of us that he helped and encouraged and in the information he passed on through his articles over the years. We should mourn his passing, and we should also celebrate his life and the gifts he left behind.

Sad news indeed. He will live on in all of us who had the pleasure to enjoy and enrich ourselves in the knowledge he shared. You are missed Uncle Willy. Rest in Peace.

I was not always the nicest to Bill... We had our battles.... Now I just feel terrible.... This thread brings a tear to my eye...... Sorry Bill you were truly a inspiration and did not care what others thought...... You told it as it was and thats why we had our battles.... Which now of course I regret....... You were truly the most energetic person I have ever met towards this hobby.... RIP Bill

I heard the news about Bill yesterday and was so shocked I didn't know what to say.
Probably still don't but I must say something. Although I never had the privilege of
meeting Bill I feel as if I lost a family member. Even though I am not a regular here
Bill always treated me as if I were. Always surprised me when he did that. A more
caring and sincere person would be hard to find. We were very lucky to have Bill with
us sharing his great knowledge. Bill never expected anything in return for what he did
here but I would be willing to bet what he did get was our remembering him for the rest
of our lives. I know I will. Bill would tell it like it is no matter what. I sure admired that.
A great man and I will truly miss him but I believe his spirit will live on through his writings
and the memories we all have of him. Rest in Peace Bill.
