Threshold

Ive noticed on my Legend that I can increase my threshold from 1 to 11 with no background noise. Hit 12 and it starts a pulsing noise the rest of the way up. Anyone else experience this? Update is 09.

Your threshold is fine and works normal when using a wired headset. I have mine in the 6 to 8 area with the cheap XP wired headsets that fit behind the ear. The issues you are referring to concerns the blue tooth stuff. I received a message today from Dilek in which she said they were working on that for the next update.

I was going to get worried if the EMI was messing, yet again, with some function on my equipment…….. yup, it starts at 12 and pulses all the way to 30!

Well that explains it then…I like a slight threshold hum but noticed the 11-12 thing using the Bluetooth. So they are aware…cool

I had the same problem with the wireless headphones. Nokta has a new update and now mine works great. I always like to hunt with a threshold to listen to.

The neat , and very useful aspect of running the background Threshold on the Legend is that if you are using any Disc or Notch, the threshold will blank/null on the disc'd target. This allows you to better know what is under your coil on tricky signals.

well my threshold is not ok when I use the threshold with the headphones connected or ear buds there is no threshold sound until you hit 12 at a setting of 11 or lower there is absolutely no threshold sound, the threshold with headphones is pretty much useless because at a level of 12 it is to high, as I have said many many times a working threshold is almost a must to detect gold nugget's,as well as a working Ground balance maybe you coin hunters do not need either of those functions to work correctly but as someone that detect's for gold nuggets i need both the threshold and the ground balance to work.

The last update supposedly remedied the issue of no threshold when using wireless bluetooth headphones below level 12.. I use wired ones so cannot confirm it. Look for a 109.1 update???

well the threshold update did nothing to make the threshold work correctly through Bluetooth headphones

I did the V1.09 update & a Factory restart, then did the Threshold update and another Factory restart. Both were successful & now I have a nice soft background threshold tone at 3 with the master detector volume at 4. I'm not sure where the HP volume is set.

You mention the blank/null on disc’d targets….How fast does the threshold reset after going over said targets ? .I haven’t run my Legend with a threshold yet…Thanks

It is really like an inverse tone, if that makes sense. When you try it you will see what l mean. Very useful.

I have been playing with the threshold settings on the Legend here is what I have discovered

I run my volume at 3 on the Legend what I have found out is this at a volume of 3 the threshold will give no sound at all again as I stated in an earlier reply to this thread my Legend had no threshold sound until I raised the threshold level to 12 a threshold setting of11-1 there was no threshold (this is with Bluetooth activated on the Legend and using blue tooth headphones) but in my testing what I discovered is the headphones you are using makes a huge difference, I tried using some ear buds Low Latency 35MS they do not work correctly with the Legend threshold, when I use the supplied headphones from Nokta/Macro its a different story with low latency ear buds 11-1 there is no threshold sound with the supplied Nokta/Macro headphones the threshold works, I can set the threshold at 2 but the volume settings plays a huge part of whether you can run a setting of 2 on the threshold settings the pitch of the threshold has nothing to do with whether you can hear the threshold at a setting 2 or not, at a setting of 4,5 or 6 only then can you hear the threshold a volume setting of 3-1 there is no threshold sound at a setting of 1-11

again the volume setting, the headphones you choose to use plays a big part in whether you are going to have a threshold sound

OK Andy as you requested and discussed on the Phone

without the Bluetooth activated in the Legend the threshold seems to work fine

the below findings are with the Bluetooth activated in the Legend control pod using various wireless earbuds and the supplied wireless headphones from Nokta/Macro

using a set of Black Shark T4 earbuds they are low latency at35 Ms here is what I found with these there is no threshold sound until you set the threshold at a setting of 9-30 the volume has to be at 6 in the control pod at a volume setting of 5-1 there is no sound it was the same with several other brands of low latency earbuds

with the Nokta/Macro supplied wireless headphones my findings below

volume of 2 on control pod there is no threshold sound until the legend is set at a
threshold of 6 at a threshold setting of 1-5 there is no threshold sound

At a volume of 3 on the control pod there is no threshold sound until you are at a setting of 4 on the threshold settings no threshold sound below a setting of 4

with volume set at 4 there is no threshold sound until at a threshold setting of 3 volume level at 5 it is the same as volume level 4 no threshold sound until a threshold setting of 3

at a volume setting of 6 on the control pod you can hear the threshold sound at a
setting of 2 -30, but at a threshold setting of 1 again there is no threshold sound at a 1 setting

I hope this all makes since and yes I think Nokta/Macro looks into this or at the vary least informs Legend users of my findings

You are correct, I fixed mine and only use my wireless.

I just bought a new Legend and updated to 1.09 and the threshold update. My only problem with the threshold on the wireless is that at my settings, 4 on the threshold is louder than I like but at three, I can't hear it at all. I wish they would have made it capable of finer tuning. I like having it on so I accept it like it is but would like it much better if holding the up button made it louder and holding the down button made it quieter kind of like a potentiometer on other detectors. That's just my opinion.
