The Red Sheet Thing Again - - F4 arrived

And this should also mean that I could use the BH hockey puck on the F4 machine, and also buy the the DD coil to use on a QuickDraw II?

Hi Bill

I just haven't had the time this weekend to test those coils with it. From what I was told those coils would work with the F-4. So I guess the reverse would apply also.

I'm sure it would be the same freq., or close enough.

Mr. Bill

Sorry Barnacle, Didn

It may be using Fisher rods. It may have the user interfaces arranged a bit different. It may have the T2 DD coil. But it is still an existing Bounty hunter design marketed under the Fisher name. Maybe they even fixed the bugs and made the threshold audible but its still the same basic machine.

As far as I'm concerned the only good thing that is coming out of this is that now I've got access to a DD coil to put on the BH Tracker IV.

It's depressing.

I'm moving on.

Later guys.

if First Texas didn't enter into the picture. :clapping:

Everyone had a chance to step up the the plate, and didn't. Fisher was for sale for a couple of years, and didn't have any takers. If First Texas had not purchased it, there would not be a Fisher company today.

We just have to go with what has been dealt, and see how it plays out. Never can tell what will happen. :yikes:

Just curious, how many New Fisher detector's did you purchase in the last few years ?

Have a nice day

Bill

... then the DD coil for the F4 could (theoretically) be used with any BH detector and, with a simple adapter, it could also (theoretically) be used with the 6.5 kHz Whites detectors such as the XLT etc.

Another victim of Wal-Mart-itis bites the dust.

So sad that he didn't even try the machine to see how it performed. Didn't even touch it or wait to see what others had to say about it who had tried it.

Just took one look and decided he knew everything about it.

I just enjoy the give and take.:) If we didn't have different opinions then there would be no discourse and we would all be the poorer for it.

Much of the time I will pose questions for the sake of eliciting information at a level that beginners can grasp. If we take the discussion to a level of using terms like gauss, siemens, reactance, imaginary numbers etc, peoples eyes are going to glaze over quickly, and many will also feel excluded as if a foreign language is being spoken or that they are being talked down to.

And I like to inject a certain amount of irreverence and self deprecation to keep a little life in the discussion without it hopefully becoming too sophmoric......Jackpine taught me that word.

Bottom Line: I like to have a little fun at others and my own expense.

Fisher has to make some money. Mid priced detectors with good features and well built will be money in the bank and more machines down the road.

and all I can say is, I think it's great that the Fisher name will still be on someting. But, I'm waiting until the verdict is in on the new line of Fisher detectors, which won't be until they have been out for a few months. I know the T2 was bantered back and forth about it being a Bounty Hunter/Radio Shack detector and questions arose about the quality and performance. I was very impressed with the performance of the T2 for the short time I used it. Furthermore as far as quality, I bought a new Xterra 70 around the same time as the T2 and I wouldn't even put both in the same league with each other as far as performance or quality and can be attested to by all the Xterra sales and trades versus T2's.

and there isn't a whole lot of difference in performance in regards to the Bounty Hunters vs my Fishers. Yes, at times maybe an inch or tw in depth but quite often very similar. But, this is in my soil here in central Florida, which has very mild soil in most places.

I'm certain he'd sell it in a few short weeks and claim the wife told him he had to sell like all the others. :sleepy:

Seems very odd to bring another middle priced metal detector into an already very crowded section of the Fishers cataloge. No water units, but another $500.00 one?

Does this spell the end of those fine machines?

You have to wonder what's going on. But, I'd bet this F-4 is much cheaper parts-wise and such. I may give this F-4 a shot. Was this a George Payne design?

But I'll be keepin' my Excell and 1236x2 in the best shape I can as I feel the writings on the wall ladies and gents.

Dave Johnson in his T2 interview published by FT said:

"Most people don't know it but the visual ID
system in most Bounty Hunter products
is based on George Payne's circuit designs."

The entire interview is located here:

As for the F4 replacing other models, my guess is the
Excel is most likely to become extinct if the F4 sales are good.
But, the Edge is priced about $200 higher than the F4
and the 1236 is about $100 lower so they will most
likely stay.
